A numerical study of a laminar natural convection of the CuO-water nanofluid in a square cavity using the Buongiorno's nonhomogeneous model is presented. All the governing equations including the volume fraction equation are discretized on a cell-centered, non-uniform grid employing the finite-volume method with a primitive variable formulation. Calculations are performed over a range of Rayleigh numbers and volume fractions of the nanopartile. From the computed results, it is shown that both the homogeneous and nonhomogeneous models predict the deterioration of the natural convection heat transfer well with an increase of the volume fraction of nanoparticle at the same Rayleigh number, which was observed in the previous experimental studies. It is also shown that the differences in the computed results of the average Nusselt number at the wall between the homogeneous and nonhomogeneous models are very small, and this indicates that the slip mechanism of the Brown diffusion and thermophoresis effects are negligible in the laminar natural convection of the nanofluid. The degradation of the heat transfer with an increase of the volume fraction of the nanoparticle in the natural convection of nanofluid is due to the increase of the viscosity and the decrease of the thermal expansion coefficient and the specific heat. It is clarified in the present study that the previous controversies between the numerical and experimental studies are owing to the different definitions of the Nusselt number.

In 1991, Prof. Toshio Masuda of Kyoto University for the first time synthesized a representative of diphenylacetylene polymer derivatives, poly[1-phenyl-2-(p-trimethylsilyl)phenylacetylene] [PTMSDPA]. This polymer is highly soluble nevertheless a ultra-high molecular weight (Mw) of > $1.0{\times}10^6$ which showed excellent chemical, physical, mechanical properties [1]. As one of the most interesting features of PTMSDPA, Prof. Katsumi Yoshino of Osaka Univ. reported that this polymer emits an intense fluorescence (FL) in a visible region because of the effective exciton confinement within the resonant structure between the polyene pi-conjugated chain and side phenyl full-aromatic bulky groups [2]. Very recently, Prof. Ben-Zhong Tang of Hong-Kong Institute of Science and Technology clarified the idea that the FL emission of disubstituted acetylene polymer derivatives originates from intramolecular excimer due to the face-to-face stacking of the side phenyl groups [3]. Thus, to know what influence to intramolecular excimer emission in the film as well as to further understand how the intramolecular excimer forms in the film became more crucial in order to further precisely design the optimized molecular structure for highly emissive, substituted acetylene polymers in the solid state. In recent studies, we have focused our interests on the origin of the FL emission in order to expand our knowledge to developments of novel sensor applications. It was found that the intramolecular phenyl-pheyl stack structure of PTMSDPA in film was variable in response to various external chemical stimuli. Using PTMSDPA and its derivatives, we have developed various potential applications such as latent fingerprint identification, viscosity sensor, chemical-responsive actuator, gum-like soft conjugated polymer, and bioimaging. The details will be presented in the 49th KVS Symposium held in Pyong Chang city.
To prepare acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs), quaternary copolymer syrups were photopolymerized from 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate as default constituents and isobornyl acrylate and tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate (THFA) as variable constituents. After polymerization, 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate and photoinitiator were added and then crosslinked by UV-irradiation to prepare the PSAs. The characteristics of the syrup such as viscosity, molecular weight, and solid content were investigated. As increasing THFA contents, the relationship between molecular weight and solid content of the syrup was reciprocal. Also, the relationship between peel strength and surface energy of the PSAs showed the same tendency. All the PSA samples showed high transmittance (more than 92%), low haze (less than 1.0%) and low color-difference (less than 1.0).
An eddy-resolving free-surface primitive-equation model with nonlinear terrain-following coordinates is established to study the exchange of water masses among the Asian marginal seas and their adjacent waters. A curvilinear coordinate system is used to generate the horizontal grid with a variable resolution for the regional oceans from $5^{\circ}$S to $45^{\circ}$N and $100^{\circ}$E to $155^{\circ}$E. The higher resolution region has about a 10 km by 10 km grid covering the complex geometry of the coastal marginal seas, while the lower resolution region has about a 30 km by 30 km grid covering the eastern Pacific. The model is initialized by the Levitus annual climitology and forced by the monthly mean air-sea fluxes of momentum, heat, and freshwater derived from the Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set. High-resolution and low-viscosity are identified as the key factors for a better representation of the exchange of waters through narrow straits and passages between the marginal seas and their adjacent waters. The dynamics of the loop currents and eddies in the South China Sea and Celebes Sea are examined in detail. It has found that the anticyclonic loop and detached eddies from the Kuroshio through the Luzon Strait play an important role in transporting warm and salty water into the South China Sea, while the cyclonic circulation of the Mindanao Current in the Celebes Sea plays a role in contributing cold water to the Indonesian throughflow. The deep undercurrent of the western Pacific is shown to provide fresher water to the South China Sea and Celebes Sea. These modeling results suggest that the exchange processes via the narrow straits and passages are of fundamental importance to the maintenance of water masses for the marginal sea region.
After manufacturing 2mol% CdO substitute $0.05Pb(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})O_3-0.95Pb(Zr_{0.52}Ti_{0.48})O_3$ piezoelectric ceramics powder as starting material, to manufacture green sheets using Doctor Blade method. The optimum composition of slurry was studied. Moreover, the sintering properties and the dielectric and piezoelectric properties with variation a thickness of the manufactured sheets were investigated. The optimum of slurry was investigated by the rheology with addition of additives, the sintering condition was decided by TGA. And the properties of sheet were investigated through SEM. XRD. The optimum of slurry was the stablest at dispersant 3.0 wt% to solid loading 30vol%. After, at addition of binder/plasticizer(0.75/0.25) 3.0wt%, viscosity was 7.55Pa${\cdot}$s. The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the sheet were increased a little with the increasing of sintering temperature but were not variable with variation of sheet thickness.
Of high strength bolts, the torque shear type bolt is known to be clamped normally when pin-tails are broken. Sometimes the clamping loads on slip critical connections considerably fluctuate from the required tension due to variation of torque coefficient. This is why the viscosity of lubricant affects the torque coefficient by temperature. In this study, the clamping tests of high strength bolts were performed independently at laboratory conditions and at outdoor environment. The temperatures of outdoor environment candidates were ranged from $-11^{\circ}C$ to $34^{\circ}C$ for six years. The temperature at laboratory condition was composed from $-10^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$ at each $10^{\circ}C$ interval. At outdoor environment conditions, the clamping load of high strength bolt was varied from 159 to 210 kN and the torque value was varied from 405 to 556 Nm. The torque coefficients at outdoor environment were calculated from 0.126 to 0.158 when tensions were measured from 179 to 192 kN by using tension meter. The torque coefficients at outdoor environment conditions were analyzed as the range from 0.118 to 0.152. From these tests, the diverse equations of torque coefficient, tension dependent to temperature can be acquired by statistic regressive analysis. The variable of torque coefficient at laboratory conditions is 0.13% per each $1^{\circ}C$ when it reaches 2.73% per each $1^{\circ}C$ at outdoor environment conditions. When the results at laboratory conditions and at outdoor environment were combined to get the revised equations, the change in torque coefficient was modified as 0.2% per each $1^{\circ}C$ and the increment of tension was adjusted as 1.89 % per each $1^{\circ}C$.

In this study, a spray dryer is used to make granules of Y2O3 and YF3, and then Y5O4F7 is synthesized following heat treatment of them under Ar gas atmosphere at 600 ℃. Single and binary monomer mixtures are compared and analyzed to optimize photocurable monomer system for DLP 3D printing. The mixture of HEA and TMPTA at 8:2 ratio exhibits the highest photocuring properties and low viscosity with shear thinning behavior. The optimized photocurable monomer and synthesized Y5O4F7 are therefore mixed and applied to printing process at variable solid contents (60, 70, 80, & 85 wt.%) and light exposure times. Under optimal light exposure conditions (initial exposure time: 1.2 s, basic exposure time: 5 s), YOF composites at 60, 70 & 80 wt.% solid contents are successfully printed. As a result of measuring the size of the printed samples compared to the dimensions of the designed bar type specimen, the deviation is found to increase as the YOF solid content increases. This shows that it is necessary to maximize the photocuring activity of the monomer system and to optimize the exposure time when printing using a high-solids ceramic slurry.
This study analyzed the influence of process variables affecting the thermodynamic equilibrium and fluid dynamics of interfaces such as reverse micelle, salt concentration, interfacial tension, and viscosity of fluids to optimize the microencapsulation process using the W1/O/W2 double emulsion method. The process variable with the greatest impact on encapsulation efficiency was found to be the difference in osmotic pressure between the W1 and W2 phases. It was observed that increasing the salt concentration in the W2 phase or decreasing the ascorbic acid concentration in the W1 phase resulted in higher encapsulation efficiency. Additionally, a larger difference in osmotic pressure led to increased damage to the surface of the microparticles, as confirmed by SEM images. The introduction of reverse micelles, which was anticipated to increase encapsulation efficiency, either had a low contribution or even decreased encapsulation efficiency. The yield of microcapsules was expressed as a universal function, applicable to all process conditions or solution compositions. According to this universal function, no further increase in yield was observed beyond the Ca (capillary number) of approximately 20.

The effects of glass composition on the wettability and reactivity with $ZrO_2$substrate was evaluated and fabrication variables and glass compositions was investigated. Various glass compositions was investigated. Alkaline earth silicate glass show good wettability and lower viscosity and crystallization of glass could be prevented by $B_2O_3$.The sealant glass begin to wet on $ZrO_2$substrate below $900^{\circ}C$ and porosity occurred in various glass compositions, the crystallization and porosity in the glass could be prevented by the addition of flux into glass composition. But flowability and reactivity of glass with $ZrO_2$substrate was enhanced. Processing variables should be optimized to reduce the porosity by enhancing the sintering of glass powder. Many silicate glasses were investigated for the applications of high temperature sealants. Wetting and bonding of glass was good enough to seal together between $ZrO_2$and other ceramic components of SOFC. But porosity and reaction layer were occurred in the sealant glass. It will be possible to produce glass sealant without porosity and reaction layer at the interface by optimization of processing variable and modify the glass compositions. In present study, wettability of glass-filler composite was investigated. The porosity, shape of filler and interfacial reactions of sealant glass with fillers were examined.
