A Study on the Swash Plate Behavior of Variable Displacement Compressor for Automotive Air Conditioning System (차량용 가변용량 압축기의 사판 거동에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the distinct advantages of comfort, drive ability and fuel economy standard, the variable displacement swash plate type compressor which can control the compressor displacement by increasing or reducing the swash plate angle has been developed for automotive air-conditioning system. That can be obtained constant temperature of car room on the variation cooling capacities or engine speeds. This paper was carried out the analysis of swash plate behavior to obtain the forces and moments applied to the swash plate and to get the variable controlability on the variation of compressor speeds and swash plate chamber pressures. The results of simuation agree very well with the experimental data.

A Study on Dynamic Analysis and Friction Loss of Swash Plate Compressor (사판식 압축기의 동적 해석 및 마찰손실에 관한 연구)

  • A dynamic analysis and friction loss of non-variable swash plate compressor are studied theoretically. Rotating swash plate and reciprocating pistons are modelled kinematically, and forces and torques acting on rotor-bearing system are analyzed. Then, friction losses on 4 roller bearings, 10 sliding parts between swash plate and shoes, and 10 lubricating surfaces between cylinders and pistons are calculated. On each frictional element of sliding surfaces and roller bearings, the same friction loss is obtained, respectively.

  • In this study, a variable swash plate compressor has been used in a vehicle to improve its fuel efficiency. To manufacture the swash plate, either SCM 435 or UNS C67300 was used. The effects of using different materials for the structural reliability of compressor have been investigated. Static analysis was carried out on swash plate A/C compressor by using commercial software ANSYS 13.0v. The results showed that the Max. stress occurred on the swash plate made of UNS C67300 was lower than that made of SCM435, which indicated that UNS C67300 is more suitable for producing the safe swash plate.

  • The variable-swash-plate compressor has recently been adopted as a vehicle compressor to improve fuel efficiency. The rotation torque in the variable-swash-plate compressor and the pressure-affected piston have a great influence on the swash-plate design and deformation. This paper suggests the optimal configuration design by using Chebyshev orthogonal polynomial and optimization techniques. The orthogonal array (OA) and analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques and response surface optimization, are employed to determine the main effects and their optimal design variables. According to the optimal design, we confirm an effective design variable in swash plate and explain the optimal solution, the usefulness for satisfying the constraints of maximum stress and deformation.

  • Recently, it is required that the automotive air conditioning system must keep the cabin temperature comfortable in spite of engine speed, and Improve the fuel consumption during all the seasons. To satisfy these requirements, the variable displacement swash plate type compressor with control pressure valve is developed. In this study, the effects of two type valves, suction pressure control valve and differential pressure control valve, on the performance of swash plate type compressor has been investigated experimentally.

  • At present, using of electromagnetic control valve (ECV) in external variable displacement swash plate type compressor is a common issue. Solenoid operated ECV controls vehicle air conditioning system through a pulse width modulation (PWM) input signal that supplied from an external source. Different port pressure controls the swash plate movement inside the compressor at certain angles that finally determines the refrigerant flow rate to the vehicle compartment for passengers comfort. In this paper, crankcase pressure flow (Pc flow) is calculated with some ECV samples with corresponding to amount of variable supply of current ranges from 0.20Amp to 0.95Amp.
