A refrigerant-subcooling refrigeration system consisted of a typical single vapor-compression refrigeration cycle, a subcooler, and an ice storage tank. The degree of subcooling at the exit of the condenser can be increased by the heat exchange between the subcooler and the ice storage tank. The cold heat in the ice storage tank was stored by using the refrigeration cycle during night time and then used to absorb the heat from the subcooler during daytime. The performance of the refrigerant-subcooling refrigeration system was measured by varying the degree of subcooling. In addition, the performance characteristics of the present system were compared with those of a conventional refrigeration system. The mass flow rate of the present system was higher than that of the conventional system due to the increase in the degree of subcooling. Generally, the refrigerant-subcooling system showed superior performance to the conventional refrigeration system.

This study was experimentally performed to find the effects of refrigerant subcooling in the refrigeration system and to propose how to get the efficient use of energy. A refrigerant-subcooling refrigeration system consisted of a typical single vapor-compression refrigeration cycle, a subcooler, and an ice storage tank. The degree of subcooling at the exit of the condenser can be increased by the heat transfer between the subcooler and the ice storage tank. The cold heat in the ice storage tank was stored by using the refrigeration cycle during night time and then used to absorb the heat from the subcooler during daytime. The cooling capacity and COP of this system were higher than those of the conventional system due to the increase in the degree of subcooling. Typically, the refrigerant-subcooling system showed superior performance to the conventional refrigeration system and would also contribute to load leveling.
Desiccant systems have been proposed as energy saving alternatives to vapor compression air conditioning for handling the latent load. Use of liquid desiccants offers several design and performance advantages over solid desiccants, especially when solar energy is used for regeneration. The liquid desiccants contact the gas inside the packed column and the heat transfer and mass transfer will occur. This proposal is try study the mass transfer and heat transfer inside the packed column of dehumidifier and regenerator systems. And later on, the rates of dehumidification and regeneration that were affected by desiccant flow rates, air temperature and humidity, and desiccant temperature and all that variation will influence the performance of the systems.

Absorption chiller/heater can utilize the unused energy of the daily life waste heat, the industry waste heat. the solar energy and the earth energy. These can contribute to energy savings. But the absorption chiller/heater has a demerit that the size of absorption chiller/heater is larger than that of the vapor compression type based on same capacity. In this study. the experimental apparatus of an absorber is manufactured as a plate. which is newly applied in an absorber. The experimental apparatus is composed of a plate type absorber. which can increase the heat exchange area per unit volume and thus facilitating to deeply investigate more detail features instead of that done by the existing type. i.e.. horizontal tube bundle type. The characteristics of heat transfer and refrigeration capacity are studied experimentally. The absorption enhancement by using surfactant is closely examined through the experiment and comparative figures are presented in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
In this study, a numerical model for a vapor compression refrigeration system using MPCM slurries as a secondary fluid through an evaporator was developed, and the system performance was compared with that using water Generally, the MPCM system showed higher performance than the water system. The COP of the MPCM system was higher by 16.6 to 18.6% than that of the water system at all conditions. The MPCM slurry yields better performance in the aspect of heat transfer and heat transportation comparing to the sensible heat transfer medium such as water.

The simulation of refrigeration cycle is important since the experimental approach is costly and time-consuming. The present paper focuses on the simulation of a refrigeration cycle equipped with a capillary tube-suction line heat exchanger(SLHX), which is widely used in small vapor compression refrigeration systems. The present simulation is based on fundamental conservation equations of mass, momentum, and energy. These equations are solved through an iterative process. The non-adiabatic capillary tube model is based on homogeneous two-phase flow model. This model is used to understand the refrigerant flow behavior inside the non-adiabatic capillary tube. The simulation results show that both of the location and length of heat exchange section influence the coefficient of performance (COP).
In this paper, three refrigeration systems bypassing hot-gas to compressor outlet, compressor and condenser outlet and evaporator inlet are theoretically compared to offer basic design data for performance depending on cooling load using a HYSYS program. The main results are summarized as follows : First, the COP of third system is the highest. Next, the COP of second system is higher than first one. And, the temperature of compressor inlet of third system is constant for all cooling load. Compared to first and second system, the compressor inlet temperature of the first system is higher than second one for all cooling loads. From the above results, third system, which is bypassing hot-gas to evaporator inlet, is more advantageous when considering the precise temperature control and excellent performance of oil and water cooler of industrial machine.

The simulation of refrigeration cycle is important since the experimental approach is too costly and time-consuming. The present simulation focuses on the effect of capillary tube-suction line heat exchangers (CT-SLHX), which are widely used in small vapor compression refrigeration systems. The simulation of steady states is based on fundamental conservation equations of mass and energy. These equations are solved simultaneously through iterative process. The non-adiabatic capillary tube model is based on homogeneous two-phase model. This model is used to understand the refrigerant flow behavior inside the non-adiabatic capillary tubes. The simulation results show that both of the location and length of heat exchange section influence the coefficient of performance (COP). These results can be used in either design calculation of capillary tube length for refrigeration cycle or effect of suction line heat exchanging on refrigeration cycle.

High water vapour content in air can cause a number of problems as for human or surrounding materials. For human a high water vapour can create physiological stress, discomfort, and also can encourage ill health. While, the cause for the environment is can accelerate the corrosion of metals, accelerate the growth of spores and mould, can reduce the electrical resistance of insulators and etc. Desiccant systems have been proposed as energy saving alternatives to vapor compression air conditioning for handling especially the latent load and also sensible load. Use of liquid desiccants offers several design and performance advantages over solid desiccants, especially when solar energy is used for regeneration. The liquid desiccants contact the gas inside the packed tower of liquid desiccant solar cooling system and the heat transfer and mass transfer will occur. This thesis is trying to study the characteristics inside the packed tower of dehumidifier systems. This characteristics consist of mass transfer rate, heat transfers rate, human comfort and energy that consume by the system. Those characteristics were affected by air flow rates, air temperature and humidity, and desiccant temperature and all that variation will influence the performance of the systems. The results of this thesis later on can be used to determine the best performance of the systems.

In this paper, among various systems applying hot-gas bypass control, outdoor temperature, outlet temperature of water cooler, superheating and subcooling degree, which are the factors affecting the performance of the system bypassing hot-gas to evaporator inlet were analyzed. The main results were summarized as following. Frist of all, performance of refrigeration system bypassing hot-gas to evaporator inlet was affected by outdoor temperature, outlet temperature of water cooler, superheating and sub cooling degree. Thus, providing basic planning date of refrigeration system obtained through optimization of variables is expectable. Thus, providing the basic design data of refrigeration system can be offered by performing the optimization of these variables. Also, the feasibility of this refrigeration system proposed in this paper was obtained by analyzing operating characteristics of the system bypassing hot-gas to evaporator inlet.
