We present a high-resolution van Leer-type numerical scheme for the isentropic model of fluid flows in a nozzle with variable cross-section. Basically, the scheme is an improvement of the Godunov-type scheme. The scheme is shown to be well-balanced, as it can capture exactly equilibrium states. Numerical tests are conducted which include comparisons between the van Leer-type scheme and the Godunov-type scheme. It is shown that the van Leer-type scheme achieves a very good accuracy for initial data belong to both supersonic and supersonic regions, and the exact solution eventually possesses a resonant phenomenon.

300년 전에 발표한 fractional calculus의 개념인 fractional 미분 방정식을 제어공학, 수학, 물리학 등에 적용하고자 하는 노력이 지속되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Van der Pol 방정식으로 표현되는 동적 방정식을 정수 차수와 실수 차수를 가진 fractional 차수로 표현하고 실수 차수의 값을 변화시켜 가면서 시계열 데이터와 위상공간으로 정수 차수와 실수 차수의 비교를 수행한다.

Van Doesburg founded the magazine De Stijl with Mondrian in 1917. De Stijl movement was influenced by Cubist painting as well as by the mysticism and the ideas about ideal geometric forms in the neoplatonic philosophy. De Stijl proposed ultimate simplicity and abstraction by using only straight horizontal and vertical lines and rectangular forms. Furthermore, their formal vocabulary was limited to the primary colours, red, yellow, and blue, and the three primary values, black, white, and grey. The works avoided symmetry and attained aesthetic balance by the use of opposition. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements In 1924 their different concepts about space and time were split between Van Doesburg and Mondrian. Van Doesburg launched a new concept for his art, Elementarism, which was characterized by the diagonal lines and rivaled with Mondrian's Neo-Plasticism. The works of De Stijl would influence the Bauhaus style and the international style of architecture.

Van de Vusse reactor is known as a highly nonlinear chemical process and has been considered by a number of researchers as a benchmark problem for nonlinear chemical process. Various identification methods for nonlinear system are also verified by applying these methods to Van de Vusse reactor. From the point of view of identification, only the Volterra kernel of second order has been obtained until now. In this paper, the authors show that Volterra kernels of nonlinear Van de Vusse reactor of up to 3rd order are obtained by use of M-sequence correlation method. A pseudo-random M-sequence is applied to Van de Vusse reactor as an input and its output is measured. The van der Pauw technique is one of the popular methods for determining the conductivity of flat metal samples. Traceability of the national standard for the conductivity has been achieved by direct current measurement techniques in national measurement institutes of many countries. But recently, alternative current measurement techniques for determining the conductivity of flat metal samples is also interested. In this study, we measured the conductivity of non-ferrous and ferrous flat metals at alternative current using van der Pauw technique. As measurement results, the conductivities of the samples were decreased according to increasing the test frequency even though the decreasing ratio was different.

The paper presents the field investigations and seismic analyses of a historical masonry brick minaret damaged during October 23 (Erciş) and November 9 (Edremit), 2011 Van earthquakes in Turkey. Ulu Mosque Minaret located on Tebriz Kap1 Street in the city centre of Van, Turkey is selected for investigation. Two earthquakes hit the minaret within seventeen days, causing progressive damage. It was seen from the field investigations that the minaret was heavily damaged. To validate the field investigations, three dimensional finite element model of the minaret is constituted by ANSYS software using relievo drawings. Finite element model of the minaret is analyzed under the Van earthquake records to determine the seismic behavior. The displacements, maximum and minimum principal stresses and strains are obtained from the analyses and compared with field observations.

Lately, electronic commerce through the Internet has been rising in attention. An important element in such commerce is EDI. EDI is mainly used with VAN but its use is not common due to the high cost of EDI transfer. Thus, only large corporations with frequent use of EDI are able U benefit from it, To smaller companies that have small usage, EDI is becoming a burden. Considering this fact as well as current changes within the enterprise environment, it is apparent that a new generation of EDI is required. To resolve the problems of VAN EDI, the proposed Internal EDI was implemented. Internet EDI deals with the use of the widely spread Internet instead of VAN. By using Internet EDI, it is possible to reduce the high cost that came when using VAN. There would be no extra transfer cost since transmission will be done through the Internet. Also, electronic commerce that is mostly used today between an individual and a company may grow to become a true electronic commerce between companies.

김신과 이진용은 최근 논문에서 전건 긍정 규칙의 반례를 둘러싼 기존의 선행 연구를 비판하고 새로운 입장을 선보였다. 나는 여기서 그들이 내세운 주장 가운데 다음 두 가지를 논의한다. 첫째, 확률 개념을 이용해 반례를 설명하는 방안은 반 멕기 자신의 입장과 맞지 않는다. 둘째, 반 멕기의 반례는 애매어의 오류를 범하고 있다고 보는 것이 적절하다. 나는 첫째 주장은 설득력이 없으며, 둘째 주장 또한 그다지 강력한 대안이라고 보기 어렵다는 점을 밝힌다.

This paper presents the Global van Hiele (GVH) questionnaire as a tool for mapping knowledge and understanding of plane and solid geometry. The questionnaire facilitates identification of the respondents' mastery of the first three levels of thinking according to van Hiele theory with regard to key geometrical topics. Teacher-educators can apply this questionnaire for checking preliminary knowledge of mathematics teaching candidates or pre-service teachers. Moreover, it can be used when planning a course or granting exemption from studying in basic geometry courses. The questionnaire can also serve high school mathematics teachers who are interested in exposing their students to multiple-choice questions in geometry.

The prevalence resistance genotype and antibiotic susceptibility of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) were determined. Prevalence of VRE in chickens, healthy children and intensive care unit (ICU) patients was 43.0%, 12.7% and 24.1%, respectively. Forty out of 56 isolates from chicken intestines were identified as Enterococcus faecium, and 12 were E. faecalis. All the isolates contained the vanA gene. Nine out of 13 VRE isolates from patients and two out of 21 from healthy young children were identified as E. faecium. The resistance types of E. faecium, E. gallinarium and E. casseliflavus were VanA, VanCl, and VanC2, respectively. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of E. faecium, E. gallinarium, and E. casseliflavus to vancomycin were 512,8 and 4 g/ml, respectively. Specifically, E. faecium isolates were resistant to most of antibiotics except ampicillin and gentamicin. This is the first report of high VanA type VRE prevalence in nonhospitalized young children in Korea.
