Design and analysis of slotted shear walls equipped with energy dissipating shear connectors

  • Shear walls have high stiffness and strength; however, they lack energy dissipation and repairability. In this study, an innovative slotted shear wall featuring vertical slots and steel energy dissipation connectors was developed. The ductility and energy dissipation of the shear wall were improved, while sufficient bearing capacity and structural stiffness were retained. Furthermore, the slotted shear wall does not support vertical forces, and thus it does not have to be arranged continuously along the height of the structure, leading to a much free arrangement of the shear wall. A frame-slotted shear wall structure that combines the conventional frame structure and the innovative shear wall was developed. To investigate the ductility and hysteretic behavior of the slotted shear wall, finite element models of two walls with different steel connectors were built, and pushover and quasi-static analyses were conducted. Numerical analysis results indicated that the deformability and energy dissipation were guaranteed only if the steel connectors yielded before plastic hinges in the wall limbs were formed. Finally, a modified D-value method was proposed to estimate the bearing capacity and stiffness of the slotted shear wall. In this method, the wall limbs are analogous to columns and the connectors are analogous to beams. Results obtained from the modified D-value method were compared with those obtained from the finite element analysis. It was found that the internal force and stiffness estimated with the modified D-value method agreed well with those obtained from the finite element analysis.

Influence of masonry infill on reinforced concrete frame structures' seismic response

  • In reality, masonry infill modifies the seismic response of reinforced concrete (r.c.) frame structures by increasing the overall rigidity of structure which results in: increasing of total seismic load value, decreasing of deformations and period of vibration, therefore masonry infill frame structures have larger capacity of absorbing and dissipating seismic energy. The aim of the paper is to explore and assess actual influence of masonry infill on seismic response of r.c. frame structures, to determine whether it's justified to disregard masonry infill influence and to determine appropriate way to consider infill influence by design. This was done by modeling different structures, bare frame structures as well as masonry infill frame structures, while varying masonry infill to r.c. frame stiffness ratio and seismic intensity. Further resistance envelope for those models were created and compared. Different structures analysis have shown that the seismic action on infilled r.c. frame structure is almost always twice as much as seismic action on the same structure with bare r.c. frames, regardless of the seismic intensity. Comparing different models resistance envelopes has shown that, in case of lower stiffness r.c. frame structure, masonry infill (both lower and higher stiffness) increased its lateral load capacity, in average, two times, but in case of higher stiffness r.c. frame structures, influence of masonry infill on lateral load capacity is insignificant. After all, it is to conclude that the optimal structure type depends on its exposure to seismic action and its masonry infill to r.c. frame stiffness ratio.

Development of Industry-Wide IS Integration Model in the Agri-Industry

  • This paper presents a model explaining industrywide information systems (IS) integration in the agri-industry. Using a theoretical frame of value configuration analysis and IS integration extent we study 15 organizations. We find that product sensitivity, continuous production, value chain captains, and value creation logic explain the industry-wide IS integration. Incompatible value creation logic among stakeholders and the lack of presence of "value chain captains" - powerful actors dominating the entire industry - has and negative impact on industry-wide integration. On the other hand, product sensitivity and continuous production process led to higher levels of integration.

  • The phenomenon that it becomes the damage to the object occurs due to the resonance. I found out the sole vibration frequency at the tractor frame through the finite element analysis and extended the life of the tractor and tested a stability in order to prevent that damage. The results of the experimental and theoretical values were satisfactory, thereby the object of the experiment do not have a theoretical value to find out a problem of vibration was able to grasp.

PHPP를 활용한 조적, 콘크리트, 목조 레이어 구성별 표준주택 냉·난방 에너지 요구량 평가 (Heating and Cooling Energy Demand Evaluating of Standard Houses According to Layer Component of Masonry, Concrete and Wood Frame Using PHPP)

  • 건축물에서 냉방과 난방에 많은 양의 에너지가 소요되고 있다. 건축은 $CO_2$ 발생을 줄이고 에너지 소비 저감을 위하여 냉 난방 부하를 최소화할 필요성이 있다. 그리고 최근 주거문화는 친환경적이고 실내 쾌적성을 중시하는 방향으로 변화하면서 단독주택의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 국내 단독주택의 구조는 크게 조적조, 콘크리트조, 목조 주택으로 구분할 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 세 가지 구조방식(조적, 콘크리트, 목조)으로 구성된 동일 면적 단독주택의 냉 난방 부하와 에너지 요구량을 분석하였다. 구조방식별 벽체, 지붕, 바닥 레이어를 구성하였고, 각 레이어의 열관류율(U-value)은 목조 벽체와 같이 스터드를 고려해주기 위하여 PHPP 계산법을 이용하였다. 또한 스터드 유무에 따른 차이를 비교 분석하기 위하여 목조 벽체에서 스터드를 고려하지 않은 경우(비 스터드)를 분석하였다. 분석은 엑셀을 기반으로 자체 개발한 냉 난방 부하 산출 프로그램(CHLC)과 ECO2를 이용하였다. 냉 난방 부하와 에너지 요구량 결과, 목조 구조가 가장 높은 결과를 보였고 콘크리트 구조는 두 번째로 높은 값을 유지하는 것을 확인하였다. 두 구조방식은 에너지소비 측면에서 불리하다고 판단하였다. 결론적으로, 동일한 조건에서의 조적 구조는 다른 구조방식에 비하여 냉 난방 부하 및 에너지 요구량에 있어 유리하며, 목조 구조에서 스터드로 인한 열교를 제외한다면 에너지소비를 줄일 수 있다고 판단되었다.

정지장면의 연속 프레임 영상 간 통계에 기반한 영상분할 (Image Segmentation based on Statistics of Sequential Frame Imagery of a Static Scene)

  • 본 연구는 정지장면의 연속영상간 각 픽셀위치에서 일어나는 통계적 특성을 활용하여 영상을 분할하는 기법을 제안한다. 공간정보의 획득과 분석에서 디지털 영상 처리 기법의 활용은 아주 중요한 의미를 가진다. 특히 디지털 영상의 영역 구분을 위해 다양한 영상 분할(image segmentation) 기법들이 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 선행 연구한 연속프레임 영상의 분광학적 특성 분석의 결과를 바탕으로 연속 프레임 간 Randomness를 활용한 이미지 분할 방법을 제안하였다. 우선 연속 프레임 간 각 화소에 통계학적인 분석 방법을 적용하여 각 화소의 평균과 표준편차 값을 구하고, 이를 통하여 대상 영상에서 가장 신뢰할 만한 화소들을 찾아 씨앗 점(seed point)을 결정하였다. 그리고 이 씨앗 점들을 시작으로 이웃 화소 간 T-test를 실시하였으며, 이를 기반으로 영역 성장(region growing)의 개념을 적용하여 영상을 분할 할 수 있는 기법을 연구하였다. 제안방식의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 실험을 통하여 기존의 방식과 비교분석을 수행하였다. 이러한 실험의 결과 영상분할에서 영상의 단일 프레임을 활용한 것보다 연속 프레임을 활용한 경우가 유리함을 확인 할 수 있었다.

Structural Design of a Cathode-ray Tube (CRT) to Improve its Mechanical Shockproof Character

  • An electronic beam mis-landing phenomenon on the RGB (red/green/blue) -fluorescent surface has been considered as one of serious problems to be solved in cathode-ray tube (CRT), which is generally caused by mechanical shock and vibration. In this work, structural design concepts on the major parts of the CRT, such as a frame, a shadow mask, and a spring, are studied to improve the mechanical shockproof character of a CRT by FEM-analyses and experimental approaches ; a frame is newly designed to have strength employing the double-corner-beads which reduces considerably the distortion of the frame and the shadow mask : the edge-bead of a shadow-mask is redesigned to maintain the wide curved surface of a shadow-mask after mechanical shock : finally, a spring supporting the frame and the shadow-mask is designed to have enough flexibility along drop-direction. As an example, a conventional type of a 15inch CRT was utilized to demonstrate the feasibility and usefulness of this work. Overall, some favorable information on the structural design of the CRT is achieved, and the mechanical shockproof character of a 15-inch CRT is improved in the degree of 3G $(1G=9.81m/s^2)$ as an average-value.

키넥트 센서를 이용한 인공표식 기반의 위치결정 시스템 (A Landmark Based Localization System using a Kinect Sensor)

  • In this paper, a landmark based localization system using a Kinect sensor is proposed and evaluated with the implemented system for precise and autonomous navigation of low cost robots. The proposed localization method finds the positions of landmark on the image plane and the depth value using color and depth images. The coordinates transforms are defined using the depth value. Using coordinate transformation, the position in the image plane is transformed to the position in the body frame. The ranges between the landmarks and the Kinect sensor are the norm of the landmark positions in body frame. The Kinect sensor position is computed using the tri-lateral whose inputs are the ranges and the known landmark positions. In addition, a new matching method using the pin hole model is proposed to reduce the mismatch between depth and color images. Furthermore, a height error compensation method using the relationship between the body frame and real world coordinates is proposed to reduce the effect of wrong leveling. The error analysis are also given to find out the effect of focal length, principal point and depth value to the range. The experiments using 2D bar code with the implemented system show that the position with less than 3cm error is obtained in enclosed space($3,500mm{\times}3,000mm{\times}2,500mm$).

문재인 케어 정책에 대한 미디어 프레임 분석 (Analysis of Media Frames of Moon Jae-in Care policy)

  • Objectives: This study investigated how Korean daily newspapers frame the present government's health insurance coverage expansion policy, Moon Jae-in Care. Methods: A contents analysis was conducted to construct news frames represented in the four Korean daily newspapers' editorials and columns on Moon Jae-in Care during from April 2017 to April 2018. News text was classified into three different layers of frames: expressive element, narrative structure, and implied values. Results: The analysis revealed that the frequency of narrative frames was as follows: health system improvement (20.8%), public burden (14.6%), opposition by doctors (14.6%), and populism (12.5%). The financial sustainability accounted for 41.7% of the value frame, followed by procedural legitimation (18.8%), and coverage expansion (16.7%). The results also revealed that reported frames were different among newspapers: Chosun Ilbo tended to report in a negative tone, while Hankyoreh shinmun and Kyunghyang shinmun used a positive tone. Conclusions: This finding suggests that there are salient framings in reports on Moon Jae-in Care. Based on the results, the government needs to present a detailed financing plan on Moon Jae-in Care in detail. I discussed another implication of media frames results.

비선형 해석을 이용한 강뼈대구조물의 자동화설계 (Automatic Design of Steel Frame Using Nonlinear Analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 해석을 이용한 강뼈대 구조물의 자동화설계를 수행한다. 기하학적 비선형은 안정함수를 사용하여 고려한다. 보-기둥 부재에 대하여 전단변형 효과를 고려한다. 자동화 설계 기법으로는 직접 탐색법을 사용한다. LRFD의 상관방정식으로 각각의 부재의 상관 계수 값을 계산하여 가장 큰 상관 계수 값을 가지는 부재의 크기를 데이터베이스에서 단계별로 증가시킨다. 목적함수는 강뼈대 구조물의 중량을 사용하며, 계약조건식은 하중-저항능력, 처짐, 층간 수평변위 및 연성도를 고려한다. 2차원과 3차원 2층 강뼈대구조물에 대한 예제 해석을 수행한다.
