Crisis Management Strategy for the Korean MICE Industry Using SWOT-AHP-TOWS Analysis

  • Purpose - This study presents strategies to overcome the COVID-19-induced crisis in Korea's meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry. It aims to quantitatively identify the environmental factors affecting the industry and their degree of influence, and derive optimal countermeasures. Design/methodology - The study applied the SWOT-AHP-TOWS framework. An AHP analysis was first performed within the SWOT frame, and then a TOWS analysis was conducted using the results of the SWOT-AHP analysis. In the AHP analysis, the number of pairwise comparison questions was limited to four for each SWOT factor to increase the consistency of responses by reducing the burden on respondents. Findings - The plunge in demand (threats factor) has had an overwhelming impact on the MICE industry, more than any other environmental factor. To overcome the crisis, the ST alternative that takes advantage of dynamic pop culture to minimize the business damage caused by the plunge in demand was the top priority measure. Based on the results, this study presents suggestions for overcoming the crisis in the MICE industry. First, the industry should develop profitable business models to supplement scarce financial resources by exploiting Korea's success with quarantine management. Second, the government must provide emergency relief funds or bailout support to protect MICE facilities and employees. Originality/value - Unlike previous work on the MICE industry, this study utilized the SWOT-AHPTOWS framework to derive quick research results in an abnormal situation. This approach can be expanded to other countries with different industrial environments and situations. Additionally, when applying this method to MICE sub-sectors, countermeasures should be tailored to each field.

신규호텔의 재무타당성분석의 적용방안 (Application Method of the Financial Feasibility study of New Hotels)

  • 경제성 분석에 의한 재무타당성 분석은 이론적으로나 실무적으로 그 타당성이 인정되고 있으나, 할인율 추정이 어려운 관계로 경제성 분석과 결과해석이 실무적으로 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 연구는 신규호텔 건설 시 경제성 분석에 의한 재무타당성 분석의 구체적인 틀과 실무적용방법 및 기술을 제시하는데 근본적인 목적을 두고 연구하였다. 연구의 결과, 첫째, 대용베타방식에 의한 할인율(자본비용)을 실무적으로 추정하는 방식을 제시하여 경제성 분석결과에 대한 신뢰성과 타당성을 증대시킬 수 있었다. 둘째, 할인율과 현금흐름을 이용한 경제성 분석기법(순현가법, 내부수익율법, 수익성지수법 등)에 의한 재무타당성 분석의 전체적인 틀을 설명할 수 있었다. 셋째, 재무타당성 분석의 각 단계에서 요구되는 실무적인 분석기술을 제시할 수 있었다.

주거용 건물의 에너지 실사용량의 불확실성을 내포한 설명변수 인자에 대한 빅데이터 분석 기반의 정량화 방법 - 서울지역의 공동주택을 중심으로 (The Method of Quantitative Analysis Based on Big Data Analysis for Explanatory Variables Containing Uncertainty of Energy Consumption in Residential Buildings - Focused on Apartment in Seoul Korea)

  • Purpose: The energy consumption of apartment units is affected by the lifestyle of the residents rather than system technology. In this study the numerical analysis of assumed energy consumption correlation factors with arbitrary value due to uncertainty. It is intended to be used as a simulation correction value which can be utilized as a predicted value of actual energy usage. The correction value of the simulation is set in the developed form of the existing process that derives the actual usage amount. The simulation results used in the existing evaluation system are used to maintain the useful value as the current system evaluation scale and predict the actual capacity. Method: The method of the study is to statistically analyze the data frames of all complexes capable of collecting the annual energy usage and to reconstruct the population by adding the variables that are expected to be correlated. Repeat the data frame configuration with variables that are assumed to be highly correlated with energy use levels. Determine whether there is correlation or not. The intensity of the external characteristics of the building equipment related to the energy consumption is presented as the quantitative value. Result: The correlation between electricity consumption and trading price since 2010 is analyzed as (Correlation coefficient 0.82). These results are higher than (Correlation coefficient 0.79), which is the correlation between residential area and trading price. This paper signifies the starting point of the methodology that broadens the field of view of verification of simulation feasibility limited to the prediction technique focused on the simulation tool and the element technology scope.The diversified phenomenon reproduction method develops the existing energy simulation method.It can be completed with a simulation methodology that can infer actual energy consumption.

초창기 한국 휴먼다큐멘터리의 시대적 분석 연구 -노르베르트 베버 총아쁘스의 <고요한 아침의 나라에서>를 중심으로- (A Study on the Early Era of Korean Human Documentary: an Analysis of Norbert Weber's )

  • 본 논문은 1920년대 한국의 일상생활문화의 모습을 담아낸 휴먼 다큐멘터리의 시대적 상황을 살펴보는데 목적을 두고 있다. 특히 다큐멘터리가 지향하는 시대적 기록성과 사회적 목적성에 의한 표현은 기록중심의 계획된 에세이의 중요한 사항중의 하나임을 감안할 때, 본 연구의 분석 대상인 노르베르트 베버 총아빠스의 <고요한 아침의 나라에서>의 분석결과는 인간의 모습을 담아내는 휴먼 다큐멘터리의 관찰자적 양식의 접근 방식은 시대적 기록과 역사성의 의미를 부여한다. 특히 타자의 시선에 비춰진 인물의 관찰과 기록은 수용자에게 중요한 믿음의 상징체계를 구현하고 휴머니즘의 중요성을 강조하고 있는 것으로 분석된다. 기술적 표현 양식의 결과 분석에서는 다양한 프레임의 구성에 따른 관찰과 대상의 리얼리티를 강조하면서 인간의 가치와 경험의 중요성에 대해 서술하고 있는 것으로 분석된다.

위상 최적 설계를 통한 복합소재 대차프레임용 제동장치 브래킷의 경량화 연구 (Lightweight Design of Brake Bracket for Composite Bogie Using Topology Optimization)

  • 본 연구에서는 위상 최적 설계 기법을 활용하여 복합소재 대차프레임의 제동장치 브래킷 경량 설계를 수행하였다. 제동장치 브래킷은 12t 와 9t 로 각각 두 가지 모델을 대상으로 하였다. 위상최적화시 설계영역은 단면적이 가장 넓은 수직면과 수평면으로 설정하였다. 제한조건은 제동장치 브래킷의 Z 축의 변위 값을 초기 변위 값보다 2.5% 증가이고, 목적함수는 제동장치 브래킷의 질량 최소화로 하였다. 또한 최적화 계산 시간을 줄이기 위해 대차프레임을 생략하고 대차프레임 대신 1D beam 요소를 적용하여 Z 축 변위를 기준으로 전체모델과 동일하게 등가시켜 두 모델간의 상관성을 확보 하였다. 그 결과 12t 모델은 60kg, 9t 모델은 31kg 감소하였고, 최적화 모델의 유한요소해석을 통하여 안전성을 검증하였다.

건물 사이에 풍력발전기를 설치하기 위한 기류특성분석 (Analysis of Air Current Characteristics for Installing Wind Turbines Between Buildings)

  • Recently, various building integrated wind power (BIWP) approaches have been used to produce energy by installing wind power generators in high-rise buildings constructed in urban areas. BIWP has advantages in that it does not require support to position the turbine up to the installation height, and the energy produced by the wind turbine can be applied directly to the building. The accurate evaluation of wind speed is important in urban wind power generation. In this study, a wind tunnel test and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis were conducted to evaluate the wind speed for installing wind turbines between buildings. The analysis results showed that the longer the length of the buildings, which had the same height, the larger the wind speed between the two buildings. Furthermore, the narrower the building's width, the higher the wind velocity; these outcomes are due to the increase in the Venturi effect. In addition, the correlation coefficient between the results of the wind tunnel test and the CFD analysis was higher than 0.8, which is a very high value.

An Empirical Study on Emotional Intensity and the Influence of Product Involvement in the Context of the Integrative Framework

  • A model is proposed for the role of emotional intensity of a web site, and the moderating influence of product involvement, in the Integrative Framework of persuasion (Meyers-Levy and Malvaiya 1999). The model also appropriately operationalizes the constructs emotional intensity of a web site and product involvement The three routes to persuasion, Central, Peripheral, and Experiential correspond to high, moderate, and low involvement (Meyers-Levy and Malaviya 1999). The involvement construct is measured from message recipients using the Personal Product Inventory (Pill, which was developed to capture the concept of product involvement (Zaichkowsky 1985). The conceptualization of the Personal Product Inventory is a contextrree measure that also has robust psychometric properties when applied to advertisements (Zaichkowsky 1994). The propositions highlight the expected importance of emotional intensity of a web site. The moderating influence of product involvement is also proposed. Specifically, what this work proposes is that the emotional intensity of a product site has a larger impact on attitude change under low product involvement, as opposed to moderate product involvement. Support for this reasoning can be found in the persuasion literature (Petty et al 1986). The Petty et al (1986) frame work is a dual process descriptive and predictive frame work in the area of altitude formation and change. Recently, Myers Levy and Malaviya (1999) have proposed a tri-process framework. This is in tum based on the dual process model of Petty et al. (1986). The study outlined in this paper aims to deepen the Meyers Levy and Malaviya (1999) and frame work. The propositions outlined in the model are empirically tested using a repeated measures experimental design. The emotional intensity is measured using a scale that is based on experts judgments. Using a paired comparison t-test two sites are determined to be of high and low emotional intensity. The model is tested using a repeated measures experimental design. The first independent variable Emotional Intensity of the site is manipulated. The Second independent variable, Personal Product Inventory is measured. While, the dependent variable, product altitude change will also be measured. Utilizing Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) the data is analyzed using SPSS. The results suggest that besides the rational content of messages their emotional content can also influence attitude change. Specifically, it is proposed that the manipulation of emotional intensity of a product Web site has a greater impact on product altitudes under high and low product involvement conditions, rather than moderate product involvement. However, the results for product involvement as a continuous variable has a p value of 0.09. Further, the results for three levels of product involvement were far from significant. For two levels of product involvement also, the results were insignificant, the p value approached 0.20. This evidence indicates that it is premature to conclude that there are three routes to persuasion. A caveat, however, must be added, in that the manipulations may not have been strong enough to test the proposed hypotheses. Further, undoubtedly, there is unequivocal evidence the emotional intensity of a product Web site, as measured here, has a direct impact on product attitudes.

패션 브랜드 분류 기준에 관한 소비자 인식 연구 (A Study on Consumer Cognition about Criteria for Classifying Fashion Brands)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out criteria for classifying fashion brand from consumer point of view in order to develop strategy of fashion brands and to manage brand effectively and systematically, and to suggest theoretical frame for application of these criteria. Survey was used as a research method. Subject were 422 age of 20-30 women living in and near Seoul. Questionnaires was developed to based on 37 classification criteria, and SPSS package program were used to analyze data. The results of this study were as follows: First, factor analysis considering 37 classification criteria identified 8 factors as classification criteria. They were the level of brand form, the level of product concept, the level of management item, the level of brand sales ability, the level of customer management, the level of brand advertizing and awareness, the level of brand value, the level of product lead ability. Second, the most important factor was the level of customer management, but comparatively factor of the level of brand sales ability the level of brand value was less important. Third, consumer cognized difference of criteria for classifying fashion brands. And the level of product lead ability was the most important factor in women's wear category and the level of brand form was in general casual wear category.

복합소재 대차프레임용 4매 주자직 유리섬유/에폭시 복합소재의 진동특성평가 (Dynamic Property Evaluation of Four-Harness Satin Woven Glass/epoxy Composites for a Composite Bogie Frame)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합소재 전동차용 대차프레임에 적용되는 4매 주자직 유리섬유/에폭시 복합소재에 대한 고유진동 특성과 주파수에 따른 감쇠특성을 평가하였다. 이를 위해 오토클레이브 성형을 통해 길이와 두께가 다른 유리섬유/에폭시 빔 시편을 제작하였다. 시험결과 감쇠비의 최대값은 최소 고유진동수에서 발생하였다. 또한, 주파수가 증가함에 따라감쇠비는 지수 함수적으로 임계치까지 감소하였다. 이후에는 주파수에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였다.

열교부위를 고려한 커튼월 사무소 건물의 열성능 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Performance Analysis of Curtain Wall Office Building Considering the Thermal Bridges)

  • Currently, office buildings in Korea tend to adopt as their outer wall the curtain wall structure which can be easily constructed and has beautiful external appearance as well. However, the problem is that the curtain wall structure does not have a uniform composition unlike the wall of existing reinforced concrete structures and has a frame made of metal with high heat conduction. Therefore, it is expected that the structure will be highly influenced by the thermal bridge. Thereupon, this study analyzes how to set up the composition of the wall system and heat transmission rate in consideration of the thermal characteristics of the curtain wall structure and applies it in practice by simulation in order to propose a guideline for the energy simulation method of the curtain wall structure and analyze its differences from existing simulation methods.
