Feasibility Study for Applying Desiccant to Low Temperature Vacuum Drying Process (저온진공건조 공정에 제습제 적용을 위한 타당성 연구)

  • This study was conducted to improve the performance of low-temperature vacuum dryer by applying desiccant to cold trap. Performance evaluation was carried out using several desiccants. The amounts of absorption and diffusivity were measured based on analytic model. Results of desiccant performance evaluation revealed that silica-gel had the most excellent performance for conditions of low-temperature vacuum drying process. Silica-gel was applied to cold trap for evaluating the drying performance. The experiment results showed that the drying time was extended as the thickness of sample was increased due to increased heat and mass transfer resistance of drying sample. In addition, as heating plate temperature was increased, drying time was decreased due to increased evaporation pressure of drying sample. Furthermore, drying time with desiccant was decreased approximately 20% than that without desiccant.

  • To develop a recycling process of magnesium alloy scrap, a fundamental study on the distillation of magnesium alloy melt was carried out. Melt temperature, vacuum degree and reaction time were considered as experimental variables. The amount of vaporized magnesium melt per unit surface area of melt increases with the increase of melt temperature, reaction time and vacuum degree. The vapor condensed at the tip of water cooling Cu-condenser as a form of pine cone. Magnesium and zinc were vaporized easily from the melt. However, It's difficult to separate magnesium and zinc by vacuum distillation because vapor pressure of zinc is similar to one of magnesium. The contents of aluminum, manganese and iron, etc. in residual melt increase due to the decrease of magnesium and zinc content after the distillation of magnesium alloy.

Synthesis and Luminescence Properties of $YGdO_3:Eu^{3+}$ Phosphor by Solvent Evaporation Method (용매 증발법에 의한 $YGdO_3:Eu^{3+}$ 형광체의 제조와 발광 특성)

  • $Eu^{3+}$ doped $YGdO_3$ phosphors particles which have fine size and narrow size distribution with non aggregated uniform morphology were prepared by solvent evaporation method for the improvement of emission efficiency. Several parameters have been investigated in this study such as the influences of composition ratio of host materials, calcination temperature, amount of activator, surfactant, pH and flux on the photoluminescence intensity, particle size and dispersion. $Eu^{3+}$ doped $YGdO_3$ phosphor presented a strong narrow band emission peak at 612nm. The maximum emission intensity of$YGdO_3:Eu^{3+}$ occurred when $Eu^{3+}$ concentration is 3wt% under vacuum ultra violet excitation. Prepared phosphors were found to have small round-shaped particles about 150nm in size. The addition of PVA as a surfactant inhibits the grain growth and the agglomeration of particles efficiently by reducing the oxygen bridge bonds. As the pH reduces, PL intensity increase due to reducing the formation of oxygen bridge bonds. The particles prepared from solvent evaporation method with 5wt% LiCl were found to have 120% PL intensity compare to particles prepared without LiCl flux.

Calculation of non-condensable gases released in a seawater evaporating process (해수 증발과정에서의 기체방출량 계산)

  • All liquids contain a small amount of gaseous components and the amount of gases dissolved in a liquid is in accordance with Henry's Law. In a multi-stage thermal-type seawater desalination plant, as the supplied seawater undergoes variations in temperature and pressure in each evaporator, the gases dissolved in the seawater are discharged from the liquid. The discharged gases are carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen, and argon, and these emitted gases are non-condensable. From the viewpoint of convective heat transfer, the evaluation of non-condensable gas released during a vacuum evaporation process is a very important design factor because the non-condensable gases degrade the performance of the cooler. Furthermore, in a thermal-type seawater desalination plant, most evaporators operate under vacuum, which maintained through vacuum system such as a steam ejector or a vacuum pump. Therefore, for the proper design of a vacuum system, estimating the non-condensable gases released from seawater is highly crucial. In the study, non-condensable gases released in a thermal-type seawater desalination plant were calculated quantitatively. The calculation results showed that the NCG releasing rate decreased as the stage comes getting a downstream and it was proportional to the freshwater production rate.

  • Transmittances of SiO2 and ZrO2 thin films, made by the electron beam evaporation method, were measured with a spectrophotometer to be used in determining their optical constants and thicknesses in the envelop method. New color glass lenses with high transmittance, which now can be manufactured in the industry, was successfully designed by using these constants. Also the vacuum evaporator could be mechanically corrected with these constants as correction factors.

  • Orthorhombic yellow PbO thin films were prepared by evaporating PbO powder in vacuum and annealed in air. The evaporation was carried out by Hashing method. The energy gap, the type of electric conduction and the grain size of these films were 2.63eV, f type, and 670 nm respectively.

  • We used Cd Se as the semiconductor to analyze the Poly-TFT. Cd Se TFT is fabricated by the vacuum evaporation method and the characteristics curves of the current-voltage are obtained using the results of measurement of Cd Se TFT devices. Employing least square method and Rosenbrock algorithm, we can extract the device parameters(grain boundary mobility, trap density). The current-voltage relations calculated by extracted parameters are in good agreement with experimental results.

  • Cuprous oxide ($Cu_2O$)를 기초로 하여 산화 박막 트랜지스터에 대하여 연구를 하였다. 일정한 두께의 cuprous oxide ($Cu_2O$) 박막을 조건별로 열처리 공정을 하고 그에 따른 변화를 측정을 하였다. 그 측정한 결과 중 가장 좋은 열처리 조건으로 열 증착 방식(Vacuum Thermal Evaporation)을 사용하여 cuprous oxide ($Cu_2O$) 비정질 산화 박막 트랜지스터를 제작 및 측정했다.

  • In this review the methods for production and processing of isolated or agglomerated nanoscale metal particles embedded in organic liquids (nanosuspensions) and polymer matrix composites are elucidated. Emphasis is laid on the techniques of inert gas condensation (IGC) and high pressure sputtering for obtaining highly porous metal powders ("nanopowder") as well as on vacuum evaporation on running liquids for obtaining nanosuspensions. Functional properties and post-processing are outlined in view of applications in the fields of electrically conductive adhesives and anti-microbially active materials for medical articles and consumer goods.mer goods.

  • In this paper, organic thin film LED(light emitting diode) having ITO glass/$Alq_3$/Al structure using an $Alq_3$ was fabricated by the vacuum evaporation and the absorbance, wave length, 1-V characteristics were investigated. Electroluminescence of green and wavelength of 510[nm] were observed in this device. We observed absorbance form 320[nm] to 430[nm] and knew unstability of $Alq_3$ material as light emitting device.
