Side Slip Angle Based Control Threshold of Vehicle Stability Control System

  • Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system prevents vehicle from spinning or drifting out mainly by braking intervention. Although a control threshold of conventional VSC is designed by vehicle characteristics and centered on average drivers, it can be a redundancy to expert drivers in critical driving conditions. In this study, a manual adaptation of VSC is investigated by changing the control threshold. A control threshold can be determined by phase plane analysis of side slip angle and angular velocity which is established with various vehicle speeds and steering angles. Since vehicle side slip angle is impossible to be obtained by commercially available sensors, a side slip angle is designed and evaluated with test results. By using the estimated value, phase plane analysis is applied to determine control threshold. To evaluate an effect of control threshold, we applied a 23-DOF vehicle nonlinear model with a vehicle planar motion model based sliding controller. Controller gains are tuned as the control threshold changed. A VSC with various control thresholds makes VSC more flexible with respect to individual driver characteristics.

  • 최근 세계적으로 전력계통의 대륙 간 연계나 신재생에너지, 분산전원의 계통 연계를 위해 HVDC(High voltage Direct Current)에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 대용량, 장거리 송전이 필요한 경우 HVAC에서의 전력손실과 송전거리의 한계를 극복하기 위하여 HVDC가 새로운 대안으로 떠오르고 있으며, LCC(Line commutated Converter)와 VSC(Voltage Source Converter)의 기술발전이 비약적으로 이뤄지고 있다. 특히, DC Grid화를 위해서 유럽에서는 해상풍력을 연계한 Windfarm을 DC Grid화 하는 프로젝트가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이러한 신재생 에너지의 계통 연계를 위해서 DC Grid가 본격적으로 논의가 되고 있고 관련분야에서는 기술개발을 앞다퉈 진행하고 있는 상황이다. DC Grid 구현을 위해 VSC HVDC가 최근 주목받고 있으며, VSC로 연계된 DC Grid의 AC 계통과의 연계를 위해 가장 필요한 것이 바로 DC 차단기라고 할 수 있겠다. 본 논문에서는 DC Grid의 고장분석을 위한 기초연구로써 MMC(Modular Multilevel Converter) VSC를 기반으로 한 Point-to-Point HVDC Grid에서의 DC 고장에 대한 분석을 실시하였으며 그 특징을 분석하였다.

An Investigation of Con01 Threshold of Vehicle Stability Control System (제어시점에 따른 차량 안정성 제어 시스템의 제어 경향)

  • In conventional Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) System, a control threshold is designed by average driver characteristics. Despite the stabilizing effort, VSC causes redundancy to an expert driver. An advanced VSC which has flexibility on its control property is proposed in this study. By using lateral velocity estimator, a control threshold is determined on side slip angle and angular velocity phase plane. Vehicle planar motion model based sliding controller is modified with respect to various control thresholds. The performance of the proposed VSC algorithm has been investigated by human-in-the-loop simulation using a vehicle simulator. The simulation results show that the control threshold has to be determined with respect to the driver steering characteristics. A VSC with variable control thresholds would provide an improvement compared to a VSC with a constant threshold.

Treatment Efficacy on Oral Malodor according to Pre-treatment Volatile Sulfur Compound Level (구취의 심도에 따른 치료 효과에 대한 비교 연구)

  • Considering various factors contributing oral malodor, the accurate prediction of prognosis is very important to both clinician and patients. The present study has been performed to invetigate the relationship between treatment effeicacy and pre-treatment volatile sulfur compounds (VSC) level. Ninety patients were divided into three groups, A(<150ppb), B(150< <200ppb), and C(>200ppb) groups, according to pre-treatment VSC level detected by Halimeter, and each group included 30 patients. Routine therapeutic measures for oral were provided to each patient which consisted of oral prophylaxis, tooth brushing and flossing instruction, tongue scraping by proper device, and gargling of 0.25% ZnCl2 Solution. The group with high pre-treatment VSC level (>150ppb) showed significant reduction of VSC level at 1 and 3 weeks after. However, the group with low pre-treatment VSC level (<150ppb) did not show any significant reduction during the experimental periods. Collectively, the results suggested that patients with high pre-treatment VSC level show better prognosis.

  • 본 논문은 CIGRE 492 보고서를 따른 것으로 최근 해외 선도 기업 및 미국, 유럽, 중국 등에서 도입하고 있는 LCC-HVDC, VSC-HVDC와 기존 송전시스템인 HVAC의 기술 및 경제적 효율성을 비교분석하였다. 분석 방법은 동일한 조건을 설정하여 각 시스템에 모의 적용하였으며, (1) HVAC와 VSC-HVDC와의 비교 (2) LCC-HVDC와 VSC-HVDC와의 비교를 진행하였다. 그 결과 시간 흐름에 따라 AC보다 DC에서의 경제적 효율성을 확인하였고, 또한 HVDC의 전류형과 전압형의 비용 분석에서는 오차범위, 추가적 편익 등을 고려할 시 전압형의 경제성에 대한 긍정적 측면을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 일반적인 PWM 방식을 택하였으나, 추후 연구에서는 최근 선도 기술이라 평가받는 MMC 방식의 전압형 HVDC를 적용하여 연구하고자 한다.

Dynamic Reference-based Voltage Droop Control for VSC-MTDC System

  • The use of voltage source converter multi-terminal direct current (VSC-MTDC) systems is anticipated to increase from the introduction of wind farms and super grids in the near future. Effective control of the DC voltage in VSC-MTDC systems is an important research topic. This paper proposes a new dynamic reference-based voltage droop control to control the DC voltage in VSC-MTDC systems more effectively. The main merit of the dynamic reference-based voltage droop control is that it can reduce the steady-state error in conventional voltage droop control by changing references according to the system operating conditions. The performance of the proposed control was tested in a hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) system based on the OPAL-RT real-time digital simulator and four digital signal processing boards.

  • This paper presents a transfer capability enhancement process using VSC HVDC system which can control active power as well as reactive power. The transfer capability is constrained by stability like voltage stability as well as thermal rating of power system components. Transfer capability of the power system limited by these constraints may be enhanced by reactive power control ability and active power flow control ability of the VSC HVDC system. To enhance the transfer capability of the system using VSC HVDC, selection of the HVDC installation site is performed. In this work, power zones which consist of major power plants and their sinks are identified using power tracing and distribution factor. Alternative route of major AC transmission line in the power zone is identified as VSC HVDC system.

  • The scott transformer is used to supply single-phase power to the AC railway system. Since the scott transformer is a passive facility, it cannot regulate load-side voltage according to load change. Meanwhile, the Voltage Source Converter (VSC) is able to convert the voltage and control active and reactive power. In this paper, the feasibility of a AC railway system based on Back-to-Back (BTB) VSC which is composed of a rectifier, a DC-DC converter, a inverter, has been proposed. A three-phase to single-phase BTB VSC is modeled. The proposed AC railway system based on BTB VSC is tested on Matlab/Simulink.

  • 현재 발전기 스케줄링은 제한된 발전 자원, 에너지 수요 및 연료비용 증가, 그리고 불규칙적인 부하 등 최적리스케줄링에 있어 많은 문제들을 해결하기 위한 새로운 변화가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 Multi-Terminal Voltage Source Converter High Voltage Direct Current (VSC-MTDC)와 Bettary Energy Storage System (BESS)가 결합된 Hybrid Integrated system (HIS)를 통해 발전기 리스케줄링을 위한 최적화 기법을 제안한다. 최적 발전기 리스케줄링을 위한 HIS 퍼포먼스를 위해 VSC station limit과 충 방전을 기반으로 하는 최적화 과정을 수행한다. 최적조류계산 문제는 VSC-MTDC 시스템과 BESS룰 고려하여 정식화되며, 충 방전 전략은 24시간 수요 정보를 사용하여 발전기 리스케줄링을 위한 하이브리드 통합 시스템의 최적알고리즘을 보여준다. 제안된 최적 리스케줄링 기법을 수정된 IEEE 14 모선에 적용하여 효율성을 입증하고자 한다.

Performance Analysis of Hybrid Type HVDC Circuit Breakers in Voltage Source Converter based HVDC System (전압형 HVDC 시스템 적용을 고려한 Hybrid Type HVDC 차단기의 동작 특성 분석)

  • Voltage Source Converter HVDC (VSC-HVDC) are a better alternative than conventional thyristor based HVDC systems. Unfortunately, VSC-HVDC's full potential cannot be utilized up till now due to absence of suitable HVDC protection. Recently, hybrid HVDC circuit breakers (HDCCB) have been developed and successfully lab tested. However, their application and feasibility in VSC-HVDC needs to be investigated. In this research paper we have modelled an existing HDCCB and evaluated its impact on fault reduction and interruption in VSC-HVDC systems. The HDCCB was applied in Korean Jeju-Haenam VSC-HVDC system model and its impact was analyzed for HVDC line-to-ground and line-to-line faults. HDCCB successfully interrupted the fault current and prevented the damages to costly IGBTs and converter transformers.
