With the development of networking technology, it has become common to use various types of network services to replace physical ones. Among all such services, electronic voting is one example that tends to be popularized in many countries. However, due to certain concerns regarding information security, traditional paper voting mechanisms are still widely adopted in large-scale elections. This study utilizes blockchain technology to design a novel electronic voting mechanism. Relying on the transparency, decentralization, and verifiability of the blockchain, it becomes possible to remove the reliance on trusted third parties and also to enhance the level of trust of voters in the mechanism. Besides, the mechanism of blind signature with its complexity as difficult as solving an elliptic curve discrete logarithmic problem is adopted to strengthen the features related to the security of electronic voting. Last but not least, the mechanism of self-certification is incorporated to substitute the centralized certificate authority. Therefore, the voters can generate the public/private keys by themselves to mitigate the possible risks of impersonation by the certificate authority (i.e., a trusted third party). The BAN logic analysis and the investigation for several key security features are conducted to verify that such a design is sufficiently secure. Since it is expected to raise the level of trust of voters in electronic voting, extra costs for re-verifying the results due to distrust will therefore be reduced.
One of the most important types of Customer Empowerment Strategy (CES) is select empowerment, where firms allow customers to vote on a product to be marketed. However, there is limited research on the advantages and disadvantages of select empowerment. In particular, there are few studies on the composition of a voting system. This study analyzes customer participation behavior, such as willingness to vote and strategic voting (i.e., voting for candidates not based on utility orders), under the different voting systems: 1) the number of votes per customer (single or multiple), and 2) the number of final choices (single or multiple). Uncertainty is proposed as a mediator that links the voting system difference and customer participation. Two research hypotheses are tested using multiple linear regression analysis and a natural effects model based on data from two online experiments. As a result, the multiple voting system (i.e., multiple winners are selected by customer votes) shows a direct positive effect on willingness to vote and strategic voting behavior. In addition, the result shows that uncertainty insignificantly mediates the relationship between the voting system and customer participation. Academic and managerial contributions are discussed with several future research directions.

In this paper, after designing an efficient and secure Internet voting protocol (called as “votopia”) based on modified Ohkubo et. al.'s scheme [8] under Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), we have implemented this system and served via the Internet to select the Most Valuable Players and Best Goal Keepers of 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan$\^$TM/. The sketch of voting protocol, practical implementation and voting result arc described.
This paper introduces a multilevel item-response-theory (IRT) model as a unifying model for hypothesis testing using legislative voting data. This paper shows that a probit or logit model is a special type of multilevel IRT model. In particular, it is demonstrated that, when a probit or logit model is applied to multiple votes, it makes unrealistic assumptions and produces incorrect coefficient estimates. The advantages of a multilevel IRT model over a probit or logit model are illustrated with a Monte Carlo experiment and an example from the U.S. House. Finally, this paper provides a practical guide to fitting this model to legislative voting data.

Many areas of human activities are computerized with the wide spread use of computers and communication networks.Electrinic voting is an important social activity in democtatic society. The realization of electronic democracy is based on the sectrity of edectronic voting scheme. Therefore, it is necessary to use the cryto-graphic technique for secure electronic voting scheme. Therefore, it is necessary to use the cryto-graghic technique for secure election. In this stusy, an dedctronic voting scheme sutiable for large election is proposed. In order to make practi-cal volting scheme, we assume that the voting authorization center is trustful and the chaum's anonymous com-munication channel[6] prepared before the election day.The center authorizes the ballot of eligible voter by using the ID based digital signature scheme in the registeation stage.During the voting stage, undeniable chal-lenge/ response prorocol is performed between the center and the boters to ensure that the intemediate voting results should not affect the entire. The proprsed scheme fully conforms to the requirments of large scale election such as privacy of the voters, fairness, unresuability, unforgeability and eligbility.

Current electronic voting systems are not sufficient to satisfy trustworthy elections as they do not provide any proof or confirming evidence of their honesty. This lack of trustworthiness is the main reason why e-voting is not widespread even though e-voting is expected to be more efficient than the current plain paper voting. Many experts believe that the only way to assure voters that their intended votes are casted is to use paper receipts. In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme for issuing receipts to voters in an e-voting environment using the well-known cut-and-choose method. Our scheme does not require any special printers or scanners, nor frequent observations of voting machines. In addition, our scheme is more secure than the previous schemes.

Electronic voting systems have been widely used in many countries around the world since the mid-1990s. In recent years, studies have applied blockchain to existing electronic voting systems in order to provide reliability, fairness, and transparency for voters. This approach is highly useful as a technology that promotes decentralized citizen participation. However, the existing electronic voting systems using blockchain have not sufficiently considered anonymity. Lack of anonymity acts as an important constraint in cases of small- and medium-sized voting, which is often required in decentralized citizen participation. In this study, we propose a model that provides anonymity to a voting system using blockchain by applying the concept of the master node in Dash cryptocurrency. First, we define the differences in the requirements of the transfer and voting systems in blockchain. We propose a parallel and autonomous model and algorithm to provide anonymity in the blockchain-that is, a decentralized development environment. In addition, a discussion of security and the environment for the proposed model is described.
This study is meaningful in that it is the first analysis of Korean elections using the concept of spatial autocorrelation. Spatial autocorrelation means that an event occurring in one location in space has a high correlation with an event occurring in the surrounding area. The voter turnout rate in the 21st general election of Seoul area was divided into the early-voting turnout and voting-day turnout, and the spatial pattern of the turnout was examined. Most of the previous studies were based on the unit of the precinct and personal data, but this study analyzed on the basis of the lower unit, Eup-myeon-dong, and analyzed using spatial data and aggregate data. Moran I index showed a fairly high spatial autocorrelation of 0.261 in the voting-day turnout, while the index of the early-voting turnout was low at 0.095, indicating that there was little spatial autocorrelation despite statistical significance. The voting-day turnout, which showed strong spatial autocorrelation, was compared and analyzed using the OLS regression model and the spatial statistics model. In the general regression model, the coefficient of determination R2 rose from 0.585261 to 0.656631 in the spatial error model, showing an increase in explanatory power of about 7 percentage points. This means that the spatial statistical model has high explanatory power. The most interesting result is the relationship between the early-voting turnout and the voting-day turnout. The higher the early-voting turnout is, the lower the voting-day turnout is. When the early-voing turnout increases by about 2%, the voting-day turnout drops by about 1%. In this study, the variables affecting the early-voting turnout and the voting-day turnout are very different. This finding is different from the previous researches.
This paper addresses the democracy-oriented regulatory and legal requirements that e-democracy impacts. It demonstrates that the structure of the political system also plays a significant role in the decision to develop an e-voting application. The short term perspective of the questions put before the electorate obliterate the long term perspective in which many policy problems have to be seen. A well-designed e-voting system should produce an audit trail that is even stronger than that of conventional systems (including paper-based systems). Remote Internet voting systems pose significant risk to the integrity of the voting process, and should not be fielded for use in public elections until substantial technical and social science issues are addressed. Conclusively the paper focuses on the specific attributes an electronic voting (polling place) system should respect and ensure such as transparency, verifiability, accountability, security and accuracy in relation to the constitutional requirements such as General, Free. Equal, Secret, Direct and Democratic.
