Channel Condition Adaptive Error Concealment using Scalability Coding (채널상태에 적응적인 계층 부호화를 이용한 오류 은닉 방법 연구)

  • In this paper: we propose the adaptive error concealment technique for scalable video coding over wireless network error prove environment. We prove it is very effective that Error concealment techniques proposed in this paper are applied to scalable video data. In this paper, we propose two methods of error concealment. First one is that the en·or is concealed using the motion vector of base layer and previous VOP data. Second one is that according to existence of motion vector in error position, the error is concealed using the same position data of base layer when the motion vector is existing otherwise using the same position data of previous VOP when the motion vector is 0(zero) adaptively. We show that according to various error pattern caused by condition of wireless network and characteristics of sequence, we refer decoder to base layer data or previous enhancement layer data to effective error concealment. Using scalable coding of MPEG-4 In this paper, this error concealment techniques are available to be used every codec based on DCT.

Automatic Vowel Onset Point Detection Based on Auditory Frequency Response (청각 주파수 응답에 기반한 자동 모음 개시 지점 탐지)

  • This paper presents a vowel onset point (VOP) detection method based on the human auditory system. This method maps the "perceptual" frequency scale, i.e. Mel scale onto a linear acoustic frequency, and then establishes a series of Triangular Mel-weighted Filter Bank simulate the function of band pass filtering in human ear. This nonlinear critical-band filter bank helps greatly reduce the data dimensionality, and eliminate the effect of harmonic waves to make the formants more prominent in the nonlinear spaced Mel spectrum. The sum of mel spectrum peaks energy is extracted as feature for each frame, and the instinct at which the energy amplitude starts rising sharply is detected as VOP, by convolving with Gabor window. For the single-word database which contains 12 vowels articulated with different kinds of consonants, the experimental results showed a good average detection rate of 72.73%, higher than other vowel detection methods based on short-time energy and zero-crossing rate.

  • 비디오 객체 분할은 MPEG-4와 같은 객체 기반 코딩 단계를 위한 중요한 구성 요소이다. 새로운 MPEG-4 비디오 표준은 움직임 객체의 모양 정보를 고려하여 높은 효율의 부호화 뿐만 아니라 움직임 객체에 대한 내용기반 기능의 부호화를 수행한다. 본 논문은 비디오 시퀀스에서 움직임 객체 분할을 위한 새로운 알고리즘과 VOP(Video Object Plane) 추출 방법을 소개한다. 본 알고리즘은 첫 번째 프레임을 기준영상으로 설정한 후 두 개의 연속된 프레임 사이의 차이 값으로부터 시작된다. 즉 차이영상을 추출한 후 차이영상에 Canny 에지를 적용하고 다음 프레임의 영상에 Canny 에지와 morphologic일 연산을 적용하여 정확한 움직임 객체 에지(Moving Object Edge)를 생성한다. 이후 생성된 에지를 이용하여 VOP를 추출한다. VOP 추출 단계에서 더욱 정확한 움직임 객체 에지를 얻기 위하여 morphological 연산을 수행하였다.

MPEG-4 Rate Control Using GOV Structure (GOV구조를 이용한 MPEG-4 비트율 제어기법)

  • The rate control is very important to solve the difficulties arising from bit-rate on transmission through channel and to improve video quality. It is very important to point out that the amount of output bit obtained the encoding process using rate controller brings many problems on the transmission of channels and furthermore output bitstream decoded affects directly on the visual quality of displayed subject. In this paper, the effective rate control algorithm by rate-distortion modeling using MPEG-4 encoder is proposed. The proposed rate control has applied different weighting by VOP prediction type and even in the same VOP prediction type, the predicted reference allocates more bit. Through these bit allocation the minimization of distortion can be achieved preventing propagation of quantization error The amount of saved bitstream obtained by the proposed algorithm in this thesis is allocated to I-VOP using region of interest(ROI) selective enhancement on the next GOV encoding process and this process brought the improvement of visual quality.

  • MPEG-4는 "내용 기반 부호화"를 전제로 하는데, 영상을 객체 단위로 나누어 처리하므로, 사용자의 의도에 따라 다양한 형태의 조작과 디스플레이가 가능하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 MPEG-4 파일의 분석을 통한 비주얼 요소 중 가장 중요한 I-VOP을 추출하는 알고리즘을 설계 및 구현하여 보다 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스에 적용하는 방안을 마련하였다.

  • We studied for high transmittance panel technology in the FFS mode. We found that fine slit of pixel electrode makes increase of panel transmittance, and at the same time this structure has an issue which is increasing operation voltage (Vop). We analyzed the reason of high Vop in the FFS pixel with fine slit using two-dimensional LC analyses. Finally we suggest the solution which has high transmittance with suitable operating voltage.

  • 유압 시스템(System)은 원동기의 기계적 에너지를 유압펌프가 작동유를 압력 에너지의 형태로변환 시켜 이것을 유합 실린더(Cylinder)등의 엑츄에이터(Actuator)가 다시 기계적 에너지로 변환시켜 부하 를 구동하게한다. 상용차(NT-1, KH 등)용 파워스티어링(Power Steering)에 장착되는 Vane Type Oil Pump (이하 VOP)가 바로 이와같은 역할을 담당하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 VOP의 성능과 관련되어지는 주요 제원(Parameter)인 미끄럼부에서의 틈새, 작동유점도, 압력변화, 회전수 등을 다양하게 변화시키는 모의실험(Simulation)을 통하여각각의 조건하에서얻어지는 누설 유량과 체적효율을 수치적 으로 예측하고 이것을 주요제원을 고려하여 해석해서 정량적인 값을 얻는 것을 목적으로한다.

Encryption Scheme for MPEG-4 Media Transmission Exploiting Frame Dropping

  • Depending on network conditions, a communication network could be overloaded when media are transmitted. Research has been carried out to lessen network overloading, such as by filtering, load distribution, frame dropping, and other methods. Among these methods, one of the most effective is frame dropping, which reduces specified video frames for bandwidth diminution. In frame dropping, B-frames are dropped and then I- and P-frames are dropped, based on the dependency among the frames. This paper proposes a scheme for protecting copyrights by encryption, when frame dropping is applied to reduce the bandwidth of media based on the MPEG-4 file format. We designed two kinds of frame dropping: the first stores and then sends the dropped files and the other drops frames in real time when transmitting. We designed three kinds of encryption methods using the DES algorithm to encrypt MPEG-4 data: macro block encryption in I-VOP, macro block and motion vector encryption in P-VOP, and macro block and motion vector encryption in I-, P-VOP. Based on these three methods, we implemented a digital rights management solution for MPEG-4 data streaming. We compared the results of dropping, encryption, decryption, and the quality of the video sequences to select an optimal method, and found that there was no noticeable difference between the video sequences recovered after frame dropping and the ones recovered without frame dropping. The best performance in the encryption and decryption of frames was obtained when we applied the macro block and motion vector encryption in I-, P-VOP.

Texture Coding in MPEG-4 Using Modified Boundary Block Merging Technique (변형된 경제 블록 병합 기법을 이용한 MPEG-4의 텍스처 부호화)

  • In this paper, we propose a modified boundary block merging technique for the texture coding of MPEG-4. We propose an ORP(Optimized Region Partitioning) method that partition the VOP-based reference position to minimize the number of coding blocks. The merging possibility is improved by adding +90。and -90。 Rotation merging. We propose a MRM(Multiple Rotation Merging) method which applies the rotation merging in the order of 180。, +90。and -90。. If a pair of boundary blocks has low correlation, existing BBM's padding technique is not efficient. Our padding after merging method gives better result even if it has low correlation. The proposed method showed 5 ~8(%) coding bit reduction at the same PSNR values compared to BBM method.

A Study on Parallel Processing System for Automatic Segmentation of Moving Object in Image Sequences

  • The new MPEG-4 video coding standard enables content-based functionalities. In order to support the philosophy of the MPEG-4 visual standard, each frame of video sequences should be represented in terms of video object planes (VOP’s). In other words, video objects to be encoded in still pictures or video sequences should be prepared before the encoding process starts. Therefore, it requires a prior decomposition of sequences into VOP’s so that each VOP represents a moving object. A parallel processing system is required an automatic segmentation to be processed in real-time, because an automatic segmentation is time consuming. This paper addresses the parallel processing: system for an automatic segmentation for separating moving object from the background in image sequences. The proposed parallel processing system comprises of processing elements (PE’s) and a multi-access memory system (MAMS). Multi-access memory system is a memory controller to perform parallel memory access with the variety of types: horizontal, vertical, and block access way. In order to realize these ways, a multi-access memory system consists of a memory module selection module, data routing modules, and an address calculation and routing module. The proposed system is simulated and evaluated by the CADENCE Verilog-XL hardware simulation package.
