본 연구에서는 클러스터 VOD 서버에서의 내장형 클라이언트 플랫폼을 선계 및 구현하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 클러스터 VOD 서버의 구성과 기능을 살펴보고, 리눅스 환경에서 서버의 기능을 지원하면서 리모콘을 통한 제어와 TV를 통한 출력이 제공되도록 클라이언트를 설계 및 구현하였다. 구현된 시스템에 대한 성능 평가를 통하여 문제점들을 분석하고 대책을 제안한다.

A VOD server, which is the central component for constructing VOD systems, requires to provide high bandwidth and continuous real-time delivery. It is also necessary to the sophisticated disk scheduling and data placement schemes in VOD sewers. One of the most common problem facing in such a system is the high initial latency time to service multiple users concurrently. In this paper, we propose a dynamic stream merging scheme for reducing the initial latency time in VOD servers. The proposed scheme allows clients to merge streams on a request as long as their requests fall within the reasonable time interval. The basic idea behind the dynamic stream merging is to merge multiple streams into one by increasing the frame rate of each stream. In the performance study, the proposed scheme can reduce the initial latency time under the minimum buffer use and also can enhance the performance of the VOD server with respect to the capacity of user admission.

본 논문에서는 클러스터 VOD 시스템인 VODCA에 특산품 온라인 쇼핑 시스템을 설계 및 구현한다. VODCA 서버와 클라이언트의 구조 및 특징에 대해 살펴보고, 온라인 쇼핑 시스템의 구조 및 특징에 대해 소개한다. 온라인 쇼핑 시스템은 VODCA 서버의 광고 관리 모듈에 의해 온라인 쇼핑 사이트를 위한 웹서버와 DBMS의 광고 정보를 클라이언트로 전송한다. VODCA 클라이언트의 광고 출력 모듈은 서버로부터 전송받은 광고 정보를 사용자에게 보여준다. 또한 상품 구매 요구를 처리하기 위하여 메뉴 드라이브 방식의 입력 모듈을 구현하였다.

In this paper, a new program recommendation system is proposed to recommend user preferred VOD program in IPTV environment. A proposed system is implemented with hybrid filtering method that can cooperatively complements the shortcomings of the content-based filtering and collaborative filtering. For a user program preference, a single-scaled measure is designed so that the recommendation performance between content-based filtering and collaborative filtering is easily compared and reflected to final hybrid filtering procedure. In order to provide more accurate program recommendation, we use not only the user watching history, but also the user program preference and sub-genre program preference updated every week as a user preference profile. System performance is evaluated with modified IPTV data from real 24-weeks cable TV watching data provided by Nilson Research Corp. and it shows quite comparative quality of recommendation.

In a VOD(Video-On-Demand) system, I/O performance and storage requirements are generally more important than computing capability, Due to the development of CPU tecnology, the gap between the performance of processors and desk speed are widening. Therefore, the disk system typically becomes the bohleneck ina VOD system. In order to allevte those effects from physical constramts, disk array system is used. The I/O performance of disk arrays can be improved by the capability of processors, I/O schefuling polcy, the number of member disks in the array, disk block size, block placemet method etc. In this paper, we considered the disk scheduling schemes including EDF( Earliest Deadine First), SCAN, SGAN-EDF, Round-robm. GSS(Grouped Sweeping scheme), and C-SCAN, LOOK, C-LOOK which are variations of SCAN Mamly focusing on those disk scheduling schemes, we performed the simulation in order to compare and eview the perionmance of disk arrays considening seveial related parameters under diverse environments and analyzed the effects of those parameters to the performance.

In this paper, a new program recommendation system is proposed to recommend user preferred VOD program in IPTV environment. A proposed system is implemented with collaborative filtering method. For a user profile which describes user program preference, a program preference, sub-genre preference, and US(user similarity) weight of the user neighborhood is averaged and updated every week. In order to evaluate system performance, real 24-weeks cable TV watching data provided by Nilson Research Corp. are modified to fit for IPTV broadcasting environment and the simulation result shows quite comparative quality of recommendation. The experimental results optimum performance when user similarity based weighting, five person per group and five recommendation programs are used.

Real time multimedia data services have been made possible by the rapid development of the computer and internet technology. Based on the technology, Many multimedia system developer try to use VOD(Video on Demand) and GVA technologies for distance education. However the system has mainly been developed to provide the video screen of good quality in real time and to compose contents efficiently. Not many researches and developments have been made for providing the users that is taking distance education with various types of service using VOD and GVA. Therefore In this paper we have designed and implemented an active on-demand multimedia service system to improve user-side service quality in distance education using VOD and GVA service. The on-demand multimedia service system can prominently help users to save the time and effort to search and select the studying data by this paper enables off-line search functions through E-mail and periodical current awareness service supported by PUSH technology, user oriented information booking supported by SDI service and feedback service.

In this paper, a von system which is based on current computer technologies is implemented. This von system organizes many personal computers in a local network into a configuration server, storage servers, and clients. To provide reliability, the data is stored using software RAID technology. Also, multimedia services are client-based for efficiency. The software components of this von system are the von configuration software, the von configuration service software, the von management software, and the von service software. Only the von service software runs in the client, while all the others run in the configuration server. The operating system on which the configuration server is run is the Windows NT such that the software executes like the UNIX-daemon process in the Windows NT service manager.

인터넷 이용의 기하급수적인 증가와 정보통신 기술의 비약적인 발전으로 인하여 과거의 정적인 정보의 표현 및 전달에 비해 택스트, 이미지, 오디오 및 비디오가 결합된 멀티미디어 서비스의 요구가 급격히 증가하고 있다. 특히 최근 초고속 통신망의 발달로 인한 인터넷 망 (network)상에서의 방송과 통신이 융합되는 추세 또한 가속화되고 있다. 이에 스트리밍(Streaming) 기술을 기반으로 한 멀티미디어 데이터의 서비스와 데이터 정보의 푸시(push) 기술을 결합하여 인터넷과 고속망상에서의 원활한 실시간 전송 서비스를 위하여 3-tier 방식의 인터넷 방송 서버 시스템을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서는 JMF(Java Media Framework)와 RTP를 이용하여 전체 미디어 서비스를 제공하여, VOD(Video on Demand) 및 실시간 방송 서비스를 제공하는 분산 멀티미디어 스트리밍 전송 시스템을 구현하였다. VOD(Video on Demand) 및 실시간 방송 서비스를 제공하는 분산 멀티미디어 스트리밍 전송 시스템을 구현하였다. VOD 서버, 실시간 방송 서버 및 푸시 서버에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 제공하고, 클라이언트로의 효율적이고 안정적인 서비스를 위하여 미들웨어에서의 부하분배 및 채널 정보의 관리를 가능하게 하였다.
