  • Ink-jet printing technology with ceramic ink of the four digital primary colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black; CMYK) can provide stable coloration even in the high-temperature firing process. Ceramic ink-jet printing can be widely applied in construction and ceramic industries due to the advantages of accurate and fast printing process of digital images for various products. Generally, organic solvent with proper viscosity and surface tension has been used in digital ink-jet printing process. However, the needs of ceramic ink without VOCs emission is increasing. In the present study, eco-friendly ceramic ink was synthesized by combining alumino boro-silicate glass frit and $CoAl_2O_4$ inorganic pigment based on an aqueous solvent that does not generate VOCs. The rheological properties and dispersion stability of aqueous ceramic ink were optimized. Jetting behavior and printing characteristics of the ceramic ink were also investigated in detail. As a result, the formulated aqueous ceramic complex ink showed a suitable jetting behavior without satellite drop by adjusting viscosity and surface tension. The ceramic ink can be printed on glass substrate with minimized spreading phenomena duo to high contact angle.

  • The Protocol adopted in Sep. 1997 included the new Annex VI of MARPOL 73/78, which entered into force on 19 May 2005. Revision for the accept MARPOL Annex VI with make public on 29 Dec. 2005 and enforce on 29 Jun. 2006. For all that not installation at oil terminal or if installed do not used. The purpose of this study is to research and evaluate the methods of sampling and analysis, and the pollution measure of existed VOCs during the bulk liquid cargo operation at vessels. As the sampling instrument of VOCs, Tedlar bag has the effect of decrease in concentration by the chemical reaction and absorption, and the method using the solvent extraction has error cause because of the extraction, the absorption tube has error by the breakthrough. But canister is the best sampling instrument because of having no sampling mistake. The study on VOCs emission is not sufficient for the research on the pollution cause and the analysis data on the HAP during the bulk liquid cargo operation at vessels. Hence, monitoring on the management hazardous VOCs need to be continued during the cargo operation at vessels and VOCs management field must be study for the make progress at a good pace for reason of crew's health.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the terpenoids of Total Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) released during drying of Cryptomeria japonica using the thermal extractor (TE). Considering the drying process of C. japonica, temperatures of TE were set at $27^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, $80^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, and $120^{\circ}C$, respectively. As the result, the emission factors of VOCs and terpenoids were increased as temperature increased. The amount of terpenoids included in VOCs emission factors were 87.5%, 81.6%, 83.6%, 90.1%, and 97.3% depending on above temperatures, respectively. Especially at$100^{\circ}C$ and $120^{\circ}C$, the amount of terpenoids were measured more than 90%. ${\delta}$-cadinene was the highest yield at each temperature and 32 types of terpenoids were collected. Emitted terpenoids were classified into the sesquiterpene group which consists of 15 carbon sources. These 32 sesquiterpenes were used for determining the useful bioactivity such as antifungal activity by the agar dilution. As the result, they showed the antifungal activity against Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Microsporum gypseum. The 5,000 ppm concentration of terpenoids showed a strong activity with 100% against the 3 fungi. At the 1,000 ppm concentration of terpenoids, the antifungal activities against three fungi were 95.2%, 98.7%, and 97.3%, and their activities were a little inhibited at 100 ppm concentration.

  • This study was performed to prevent the health damage of environmental contaminants in Industrial Complex Area. And, this study aimed to identify the concentration levels and distribution characteristics of environmental contaminants and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) at soil in Industrial Complex Area and control area. The concentration of the soil pollution standard such as the heavy metals in the soil, VOCs, PAHs, and PCB were measured and analyzed using the soil specimens in the Industrial Complex Area and control area. Soil specimens from the Industrial Complex Area (the direct exposure area) and the control area were surveyed. Songdo-dong, Haedo-dong and Jechul-dong, which are in the direct exposure area and near the emission source, showed relatively high concentrations of contaminant materials when compared with Jangki-myeon, which is far off and in the control area. The concentration of zinc was 20.8-58.9% of the level of concern (300 mg/kg) in the 1st region, which is a relatively high concentration. The concentration of fluoride was under the standard in every region, but it was about 74% of the level of concern (400 mg/kg) in the 1st region. It is recommended that controlling fluoride emissions is necessary. Levels of organic phosphate, phenol, and VOCs like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene were under the detection limit of the analysis instruments. The concentration of TPH was high in Songdo-dong. The concentration of contaminants in Jechul-dong was high. In addition, it was observed that the level of soil contamination changed depending on the distance from the emission source. The concentration of PAH compounds in the soil was 18.71-1744.59 ng/g, and the concentration of six potential cancer-causing PAH materials was 6.54-695.94 ng/g. The highest concentration was in Songdo-dong. The PAH concentration in the direct exposure area near the complex was relatively high compared to the indirect exposure area.
