  • We observed the radio sources found from the First Look Survey (FLS) field at the 1.4 GHz radio continuum emission with the Very Large Array (VLA) using the A configuration. We identify point sources and multi component sources at ${\geq}4{\sigma}$ level. We also present the submillimeter properties of the selected radio sources in the FLS field from the Herschel/SPIRE 250/350/500/${\mu}m$ and AzTEC 1.1mm surveys. The counterparts of the radio sources at submillimeter for these called 'submillimeter galaxies (SMGs)' are detected at infrared wavelength with the Spitzer MIPS 24 & 70 ${\mu}m$ sources. Based on the MMT/HECTOSPEC red-shift survey, IRS spectroscopy, and SDSS photometric red-shift survey, the radio sources are likely to be the extragalactic sources. Here, we use the star formation rate (SFR) derived from the MIPS 24 and 70 ${\mu}m$ luminosity to compare the measured SFR from the VLA 1.4 GHz luminosity. These results show that a tight correlation between the SFR from the radio luminosity and the MIPS $24{\mu}m$ rather than that from the MIPS $70{\mu}m$ luminosity. Radio and IR correlation is also used to indicate the radio and IR properties of star-formation in the galaxies and active galactic nuclei (AGNs). Using the counterpart sources selected at IR and radio wavelengths, we employ the IR/radio flux ratios to determine the properties and population of the selected galaxies.

  • It is a long known fact that there exists a tight correlation between far-infrared and radio emission both for galaxies hosting active galactic nuclei and for star forming galaxies. We probe the radio - infrared correlation for a sample of extragalactic sources constructed by the cross-correlation of the AKARI/IRC All-Sky Survey Point Source Catalogue, the AKARI/FIS All-Sky Survey Bright Source Catalogue, and the NRAO VLA Sky Survey. Additionally, all objects of our sample were identified as galaxies in NED and SIMBAD databases, and a part of them is known to host active galactic nuclei (AGNs). After remeasuring all the fluxes, in order to avoid small aperture effects, we compare the ratio of radio to infrared emission from different types of extragalactic sources, and discuss the FIR/radio correlation as seen by AKARI and make a comparison to the previous results obtained thanks to IRAS.

  • The motion of 3C 120 Jet relative to the core is reasonably uniform and the VLBI scale jet connects outwards to a VLA ~ 100kpc scale. We measured the jet width variation from the center and found some indication of a power law which indicates the jet expands roughly with a constant opening angle and a constant flow velocity, $V_{f}{\cong}c$, from subparsec scales to ~ 100 kpc. With such a constant flow velocity and based on other physical parameters deduced from observed emission characteristics of the jet, we have established an equipartition jet model which might accommodate the basic parameters of the jet on subparsec scales, with which one can fit the radio intensities over all the scale of the jet even to ~100 kpc.

  • 4, 5-Diphenyl-2-mercaptiomidazole (I) was reacted with hydraziodyl halides IIa-d togive the S-alkyl derivatives III-a-d. Cyclization of IIIa-d afforded imidazo[2, 1-b]-thiazole derivatives Vla, b and VII. Treatment of 1 with a-chloroethylacetoaccetate (IV) gave ethyl 2(4, 5-diphenyl-2-imidazolinylthio)-3-keto-butyrate (V). Compound V coupled with benzendiazonium chloride to give the corresponding phenylhydrazo compound IIId. On heating V with polyphosphoric acid, cyclization took place and 2-acetyl-5, 6-diphenyl-imidazo [2, 1-b] thiazol-3-one (VIII) was obtained. The compound VIII was condensed with aromatic aldehydes to yield the cinnamoyl derivatives 1Xa, b. The antimicrobial activities of compounds IIIa-d, V, VIa, VII were examined.

  • We investigate the rotation measure (RM) of the nearby low luminosity AGN M87 by using archival polarimetric VLA data at 8, 15, 22 and 43 GHz. For the first time, the RM properties of its jet are resolved at at arc-second scales. The distribution of the RM appears to be a gaussian with a mean value of ~200rad/m2 and the power spectrum follows a power law with index -2.5. A simple Kolmogorov model assuming a random turbulent magnetic fields extrinsic to the jet appears not to be adequate to explain the observed RM power spectra. On the other hand, underlying RM gradients possibly connected with the jet could be a possible interpretation.

  • It is well known that water vapor maser emission at 22.2 GHz is associated with the earliest stages of both low- and high-mass star formation and it can be considered a reliable diagnostic of their evolutionary state. Bright Rimmed Clouds (BRCs) are clouds that have been compressed by an external ionization-shock front which focuses the neutral gas into compact globules. The boundary layer between the neutral gas and the gas ionized by the incident photons is often called "bright rim" but the clumps are sometimes classified also as speck globules or cometary globules depending on their appearance. Small globules with bright rims have been considered to be potential sites of star formation and have been studied in several individual regions. We present results from high resolution VLA observations searching for new candidates of recent star formation in bright-rimmed clouds/globules associated with IRAS point sources.

  • A direct tilted-ring fitting method allows us to investigate kinematic structure of spiral galaxies. By employing the method to high-resolution HI data cubes, we can more easily trace warp characteristics of spiral galaxies than ever. In this contribution, we make use of TiRiFiC to VLA HI data cube of spiral galaxies in Virgo cluster, and present our preliminary yet interesting results. The TiRiFiC (Tilted-Ring-Fitting-Code) is publicly available code that provides 'best-fit' tilted-ring parameters (i.e. position angle and inclination) via chi-square minimization technique. We also discuss possible biases (e.g., resolution dependency) and its effect on our conclusions.

  • We probe the tidal perturbation parameter f of Virgo cluster galaxies. The goal is to measure the strength of tidal fields around individual galaxies to get better understanding gravitational processes that can affect galaxy evolution in the cluster environment. The f-value is defined as a logarithmic ratio between the net internal gravitational force within a galaxy and the external tidal force exerted by a neighboring galaxy. Hence, it provides one way to quantify the tidal field strength of galaxies, in particular, due to galaxy neighbors. In this study, we determine f-values of the VIVA galaxies, samples of the VLA Imaging study of Virgo galaxies in Atomic gas, using the Extended Virgo Cluster Catalog (EVCC) which is the most complete Virgo cluster catalog to date. With diagnostics based on the HI gas and R-band morphologies, we discuss the impact of the tidal fields on the evolution of the VIVA sample. Also, we compare the tidal field strength to the intra cluster medium (ICM) pressure for each sample galaxy to pin down environmental processes at work.

  • We investigate the molecular and atomic gas properties of 20 Virgo cluster spiral galaxies by comparing with optical properties to assess the effect of the Virgo environment on the interstellar media of the Virgo disks. CO maps from FCRAO On-The-Fly (OTF) mapping survey and HI maps from VIVA (VLA Imaging of Virgo spirals in Atomic gas) are shown, and radial properties of molecular and atomic gas are compared. H2 deficiency along with HI is investigated, and gas evolution history of the Virgo cluster spirals is also examined.
