  • Algorithms based on the QR decomposition of the equivalent space-time channel matrix have been proved useful in the detection of V-BLAST systems. Especially, the parallel detection (PD) algorithm offers ML approaching performance up to 4 transmit antennas with reasonable complexity. We show that when directly applied to STBCs, the PD algorithm may suffer a rather significant SNR degradation over ML detection, especially at high SNRs. However, simply extending the PD algorithm to allow p ${\geq}$ 2 candidate layers, i.e. p-PD, regains almost all the loss but only at a significant increase in complexity. Here, we propose a simplification to the p-PD algorithm specific to STBCs without a corresponding sacrifice in performance. The proposed algorithm results in significant complexity reductions for moderate to high order modulations.

  • In this paper, we propose two novel high-rate high-performance space-time codes for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. When $n_{T}$ transmit antennas and $n_{R}$ = $n_{T}$ receive antennas are deployed, the two proposed codes respectively offer transmission rates of ( $n_{T}$ -I) and ( $n_{T}$ - 2) symbols per channel use and diversity orders of 3 and 5. As a consequence, our proposed codes allow the MIMO systems to employ a simple detection technique based on QR decomposition. Moreover, for equal or even higher spectral efficiencies, our proposed codes always provide much better bit error rate (BER) performances than V-BLAST architecture does when $n_{R}$ = $n_{T}$. Computer simulation is given to verify performances of our proposed codes.sed codes.des.

  • An experimental work was carried out to study the effect of hybrid fiber on the tension stiffening and cracking characteristics of geopolymer concrete (GPC). A total of 24 concentrically reinforced concrete specimens were cast and tested under uniaxial tension. The grade of concrete considered was M40. The variables mainly consist of the volume fraction of crimped steel fibers (0.5 and 1.0%) and basalt fibers (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3%). The load deformation response was recorded using LVDT's. At all the stages of loading after the first cracking, crack width and crack spacing were measured. The addition of fibers in hybrid form significantly improved the tension stiffening effect. In this study, the combination of 0.5% steel fiber and 0.2% basalt fiber gave a better comparison than the other combinations.

  • This research investigates experimentally an effect on the properties of the high flowing concrete to be poured in the under-ground slurry wall of Inchon LNG receiving terminal(#213,214-TK) according to variations of concrete materials. Variables for sensitivity test were selected items as followings. 1) Concrete temperature (3cases), 2) Unit water (5cases), 3) Fineness modulus of fine aggregate (5cases), 4) Particle size of lime stone powder (3cases), 5) Replacement ratio of blast-furnace slag (4cases) and 6) Addition ratio of high range water reducing agent (5cases). And fresh conditions of the super flowing concrete should be satisfied with required range including slump flow(65$\pm$5cm), 50cm reaching time of flow(4~10sec), V-lot flowing time(10~ 20sec), U-box height(min. 300mm) and air content(4$\pm$1%). As results for sensitivity test, considered flow-ability, self-compaction and segregation resistance of the high flowing concrete, material variations and conditions of fresh concrete should be satisfied with the range as follwings. 1) Concrete temperature are 10~2$0^{\circ}C$(below 3$0^{\circ}C$), 2) Surface moisture of fine aggregate is within $\pm$ 0.6%, 3) Fineness modulus of fine aggregate is 2.6$\pm$0.2, 4)Replacement ratio of blast-furnace slag is 45~50% and 5) Addition ratio of high range water reducing agent is within 1%. Based on the specification for quality control, we successfully finished concrete pouring on the under-ground slurry wall having 75,000㎥(#213,214-TK) and accumulated real date in site.

  • The blasting to construct subways in Seoul, Korea. have often increased complaints of ground vibration. In order to prevent the damage to structures, it was necessary to predict the level of blasting induced vibration and to determine the maximum charge weight per delay within a allowable vibration level. A total of 109 blasts were recorded at ten sites. Blast-to-structure distances ranged from 8 to 84.2 meter, where charge weight varied from 0,1125 to 7.85 kg per delay. The data from blast were studied to determine the effect of explosives type on the vibration constants(k). Vibration constants were also analyzed in terms of compressive strength of rock and blasting patterns.

  • Vibrio vulnificus is an aquatic bacterium causing septicemia and wound infection in humans. To understand this pathogen at the genomic level, it was performed whole genome sequencing of a cefoxitin-resistant strain, V. vulnificus 1908-10 possessing virulence-related genes (vvhA, viuB, and vcgC) isolated from Gadeok island coastal seawater in South Korea. The genome of V. vulnificus 1908-10 consisted of two circular contigs and no plasmid. The total genome size was estimated to be 5,018,425 bp with a guanine-cytosine (GC) content of 46.9%. We found 119 tRNA and 34 rRNA genes respectively in the genome, along with 4,352 predicted protein sequences. Virulence factor (VF) analysis further revealed that V. vulnificus 1908-10 possess various virulence genes in classes of adherence, antiphagocytosis, chemotaxis and motility, iron uptake, quorum sensing, secretion system, and toxin. In the comparison of the presence/absence of virulence genes, V. vulnificus 1908-10 had fur, hlyU, luxS, ompU, pilA, pilF, rtxA, rtxC, and vvhA. Of the 30 V. vulnificus comparative strains, 80% of the C-genotype strains have all of these genes, whereas 40% of the E-genotype strains have all of them. In particular, pilA were identified in 80% of the C-type strains and 40% of the E-type strains, showing more difference than other genes. Therefore, V. vulnificus 1908-10 had similar VF characteristics to those of type C strains. Multifunctional-autoprocessing repeats-in-toxin (MARTX) toxin of V. vulnificus 1908-10 contained 8 A-type repeats (GXXGXXXXXG), 25 B.1-type repeats (TXVGXGXX), 18 B2-type repeats (GGXGXDXXX), and 7 C-type repeats (GGXGXDXXX). The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) showed that the RtxA protein of V. vulnificus 1908-10 had the effector domain in the order of cross-liking domain (ACD)-C58_PaToxP-like domain- α/β hydrolase-C58_PaToxP-like domain.

  • The cautious blasting works had been used with emulsion explosion electric M/S delay caps. Drill depth was from 3m to 6m with Crawler Drill ${\phi}70mm$ on the calcalious sand stone (soft -modelate -semi hard Rock). The total numbers of test blast were 88. Scale distance were induced 15.52-60.32. It was applied to propagation Law in blasting vibration as follows. Propagtion Law in Blasting Vibration $V=K(\frac{D}{W^b})^n$ were V : Peak partical velocity(cm/sec) D : Distance between explosion and recording sites(m) W : Maximum charge per delay-period of eight milliseconds or more (kg) K : Ground transmission constant, empirically determind on the Rocks, Explosive and drilling pattern ets. b : Charge exponents n : Reduced exponents where the quantity $\frac{D}{W^b}$ is known as the scale distance. Above equation is worked by the U.S Bureau of Mines to determine peak particle velocity. The propagation Law can be catagorized in three groups. Cubic root Scaling charge per delay Square root Scaling of charge per delay Site-specific Scaling of charge Per delay Plots of peak particle velocity versus distoance were made on log-log coordinates. The data are grouped by test and P.P.V. The linear grouping of the data permits their representation by an equation of the form ; $V=K(\frac{D}{W^{\frac{1}{3}})^{-n}$ The value of K(41 or 124) and n(1.41 or 1.66) were determined for each set of data by the method of least squores. Statistical tests showed that a common slope, n, could be used for all data of a given components. Charge and reduction exponents carried out by multiple regressional analysis. It's divided into under loom over loom distance because the frequency is verified by the distance from blast site. Empirical equation of cautious blasting vibration is as follows. Over 30m ------- under l00m ${\cdots\cdots\cdots}{\;}41(D/sqrt[2]{W})^{-1.41}{\;}{\cdots\cdots\cdots\cdots\cdots}{\;}A$ Over 100m ${\cdots\cdots\cdots\cdots\cdots}{\;}121(D/sqrt[3]{W})^{-1.66}{\;}{\cdots\cdots\cdots\cdots\cdots}{\;}B$ where ; V is peak particle velocity In cm / sec D is distance in m and W, maximLlm charge weight per day in kg K value on the above equation has to be more specified for further understaring about the effect of explosives, Rock strength. And Drilling pattern on the vibration levels, it is necessary to carry out more tests.
