A Study on the Efficiency of Multi-Legged Intersection Through Sensitivity Analysis (Based on the Four or Five Legged Intersection) (민감도 분석을 통한 다지교차로의 효용성 분석 연구 (4지.5지 교차로를 중심으로))

  • 본 연구는 민감도 분석을 통한 다지교차로의 효용성 분석 연구로 신호교차로, Roundabout, 그리고 Modern Roundabout의 특성을 고찰하고 교통류의 특성에 따른 민감도 분석을 통한 교차로 형태를 검토하는 것에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해, 첫째, 신호교차로와 Roundabout의 특성과 사례를 고찰하였다. 둘째, 4지교차로와 5지교차로의 교통류 특성별로 교통량을 산정하여, TSIS Tool을 이용한 분석을 통해 교통류 특성별 신호 교차로와 Round about의 민감도를 비교하였다. 셋째, 민감도 비교를 통한 교통류 특성별 효율적인 교차로 형태를 도출하였다. 4지교차로의 경우, 첫째, 일반적으로 V/C비의 변화에 대해 V/C비가 0.7이하일 때는 Roundabout가 V/C비가 0.7을 초과할 때는 신호교차로가 효율적인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, V/C비별 회전교통량의 변화와 회전교통량 변화별 V/C비 변화에서도 V/C비의 변화의 분석결과와 비슷한 양상을 보였다. 5지교차로의 경우, 첫째, 4지교차로와는 달리 전반적으로 신호교차로 보다는 Roundabout가 더 효율적인 교차로 형태로 나타났다. 둘째, V/C비별 회전교통량의 변화와 회전교통량 변화별 V/C비 변화에서는 V/C비가 0.8을 초과하고 우회전교통량비가 30%∼40%인 경우에 신호교차로가 조금 더 효율적인 것으로 나타났다.

A Study of Level of Service Criteria for Roundabouts (회전교차로의 서비스수준 기준 정립 연구)

  • Korea Highway Capacity Manual (2001) proposes only LOS(Level of Service) analysis method on non-control and two-way-stop intersections, not dealing with the analysis method on LOS for roundabouts, nor even including the term 'roundabout'. This study selects proper MOEs for roundabouts and criteria the LOS through simulation analysis. To attain this goal, the authors reviewed the methods to select proper MOEs in the first step, criteria the Los. For this study, the MOEs were chosen from existing literature, and used for the criteria. The MOEs to be applied to roundabouts in this research were entry traffic volume, v/c (volume/capacity) ratio, and average vehicle delays. The results showed that the maximum entry traffic volume(LOS F) at local one-lane roundabout was analyzed to be 1,700pcph and average vehicle delay 18 seconds LOS A was analyzed as 700pcph and average vehicle delay 3 seconds and v/c 0.41 in this case Maximum entry traffic volume(LOS F) at local area 2 lane roundabouts was analyzed as 2,900pcph and their average vehicle delay as 31 seconds LOS A was analyzed to be 1.500pcph and average vehicle delay 8 seconds, v/c 0.52.

Determination of Intersection Level of Service Based on Intersection Delay Measures (교차로지체측정치에 의한 교차로 서비스수준결정에 관한 연구)

  • 1965년에 출판된 고속도로용량교범(Highway Capacity Manual)은 고속도로, 도시 및 지방도로의 용량과 서비스수준을 판단하는데 기본서 역할을 해왔다. 도시내 신호등이 있는 교차로의 서비스수준은 빈하율(load factor) 개념을 이용하여 산정해 왔다. 그러나 푸른신호 주기동안 차량의 교차로이용도를 기준으로 하는 빈하율 개념은 서비스 수준의 측정치로서 한계가 있고 또 그동안 신호체계가 많이 개선되었고 운전자의 통행행태가 크게 변화하여 1970년대 중반부터 한계통행분석법(Critical Movement Analysis)과 차량의 교차로지체시간 측정법(Intersection Delay)등과 같은 새로운 기법이 소개되었다. 본 논문은 최근에 많이 이 용되고 있는 교차로지체시간측정법의 유용성을 검증하기 위해 15개 교차로의 차량통행량을 기준으로 하여 V/C비를 계산하는 한계통행분석법에 의한 측정치와 비교, 분석하였다. 그 결 과 교차로의 서비스수준을 측정하는데 양자의 방법에 의한 측정치가 크게 다르지 않음을 발 견하였다. 즉 도시내 신호등이 있는 교차로시설을 개선하기 위해 대략적인 교차로 서비스수 준을 측정할 경우 조사인원 및 비용이 많이 소요되는 한계통행분석법보다 조사가 간편하고 비용이 적게 드는 교차로지체시간측정법이 유용함을 밝혔다.

  • An integrated optimal control modelhas been formulated to address dynamic freeway diversion control process. The purpose of this paper is to develop an effective and efficient approach for simultaneous]v solving optimal control measures, including on-ramp metering rates, off-ramp diversion rates, and g/C ratios for traffic signals, on a real-time basis. By approximating the flow-density relation with a two-segment linear function, the non-linear optimal control problem can be simplified into a set of piece-wised linear programming models and solved with the proposed SLP algorithm. consequently, an effective on-line feedback method has been developed for integrated freeway corridor control in the framework of the ITS

  • LOS(Level of Service), the qualitative measure describing operational condition of highway, must be evaluated as quantative index in terms of user service. So, This study is focused on developing the user cost function that user cost is measured in the variation of V/C, MOE(Measure of Effectiveness) of LOS in basic Section of highway. The user cost is calculated as the sum of accident cost, operation cost, travel time cost. The data is collected in the four basic section of Singal-Ansan and Jung bu Highway. As the result of user cost function analysis, the user cost is the lowest When V/C is 0.54. Considering the V/C ratio(0.7) of Basic Section in rural highway suggested in KHCM, We find out that the LOS suggested KHCM increase the user cost of highway.

  • Hydrogenated amorphous carbon nitride[a-C:H(N)] films were deposited on p-type Si(100) at room temperature with bias voltage of 200 V by DC saddle-field plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Effects of the ratio of $N_2$ to $CH_4$($N_2/CH_4$), in the range of 0 and 4 on such properties as optical properties, microstucture, relative fraction of nitrogen and carbon, etc. of the films have been investigated. The thickness of the a-C:H(N) film was abruptly decreased with the addition of nitrogen, but at $N_2/CH_4$>0.5, the thickness of the film gradually decreased with the increase of the $N_2/CH_4$. The ratio of N to C(N/C) of the films was saturated at 0.25 with the increase of $N_2CH_4$. N-H, C≡N bonds of the films increased but C-H bond decreased with the increase of $N_2CH_4$.Optical band gap energy of the film decreased from 2.53 eV at the ratio of $N_2CH_4$=4.

  • The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing phase split algorithm considering the minimum green time in COSMOS. In the case of a signalized intersection where two wide and narrow streets intersect each other, the time required for the pedestrian crossing is frequently longer than the time alloted to the through traffic on a minor street. In order to meet the minimum green time requirement for the pedestrian less time in alloted automatically to the left-turn traffic, creating heavy congestion on the left-turn approach. To solve this problem, this study suggests a new algorithm which shares the barrier using minimum green time and shares the burden with signal phases alloted to the crossing street traffic on the basis of the equal ratio of the degree of saturation, while maintaining the minimum green time requirement. The new algorithm was compared with the existing algorithm by using a microscopic simulation model for COSMOS evaluation developed at Ajou University. The simulation results show that the new algorithm produces better performance than the existing one.

Characterization of the Water Soluble Organic Fraction Extracted from a Sewage Sludge Amended Soil (Sewage Sludge를 시용(施用)한 토양(土壤)에서 추출(抽出)한 수용성유기물(水溶性有機物)의 화학구조적(化學構造的) 특성(特性))

  • The water soluble organic fractions (WSOF) from an agricultural soil (W), a soil treated with sludge for 6 years ($WS_6$), a sludge-soil mixture incubated for one week ($WS_1$), and sewage sludge (SS) were extracted, purified, and characterized by elemental analysis, functional group determinations, infrared, UV-visible, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrosocpy. The SS was characterized by higher organic H, N, and P contents, a higher H/C ratio, and a lower C/N ratio than W. Total acidity carboxyl and phenolic hydroxyl group contents were generally highest in SS, intermediate in $WS_6$ and $WS_1$, and lowest in W. Overall aromatic character and aromatic carboxyl group contents were highest in W, and lowest in SS. Aliphatic proton, aliphatic carboxyl, and phenolic hydroxyl group contents were highest in SS, and lowest in W. Protein decomposition products were the pronounced components in SS, and decreased in concentration as the sludge component in the mixtures decreased. The $^1H$-NMR spectra suggested that the SS-protons were bound to a wider range of functional groups than W-protons. Structural complexities around the aromatic protons followed the following order: SS>$WS_1$>$WS_6$>W.

Determination of Minimum Spacing between Off-ramp Terminus and Intersection Considering the Influence of Adjacent Signalized Intersections (신호교차로 영향에 따른 도시고속도로 유출연결로 최소이격거리에 관한 연구)

  • The interchanges of urban freeways have many problems with traffic operation due to high off-ramp flows and frequent congestion at adjacent intersections. The flow exiting from off-ramps is affected by the operational status and traffic volume conditions of the nearest signalized intersection. As a result, off-ramp flow cannot exit and the queue backs up the freeway mainline when queues from the signalized intersection form up to the junction of the off-ramp and street. The spacing between an off-ramp and an adjacent intersection is likely to determine the traffic conditions at the adjacent intersection. However, the current design guidelines do not consider such a factor. This study is to develop a model calculating the spacing between off-ramps and adjacent intersections considering the signal, traffic, and road conditions. The variables affecting the model in this study are effective green time (g/C), volume-capacity ratio (v/c), the number of lanes, and off-ramp volume. Various scenarios are designed to represent the effects of the variables and the road networks are constructed using VISSIM, which is a common traffic micro-simulation software package. The queue length is derived from VISSIM and this length is considered as the recommended spacing between the off-ramp and the adjacent intersection. Through the simulation analysis, regression models are developed to calculate the queue length reflecting the various conditions such as signals, traffic, and road configurations. The developed model can be used to create road design guidelines to determine the location of off-ramps in the planning stage.

A Study on the Modification Value for Estimation of Traveling Speed During Rainfall in Interrupted Traffic Flow (단속교통류에서 강우시 평균통행속도 산정을 위한 보정계수에 관한 연구)

  • Generally, V/C ratio in uninterrupted traffic flow and average travel speed in interrupted traffic flow are utilized as measure of effect for assessing operational situation of roads. The set of road conditions and traffic conditions are considered to be major variables for assessing operational situation in the traffic flow. However, weather conditions such as rainfall also affect the operational situation of roads. The studies reflected by the rainy situation are conducted in the uninterrupted flow, but the related studies are insufficient in the interrupted flow. In this study, the modification factors during rainfall in the interrupted flow were suggested, and the factors could be used when calculating the average travel speed during rainfall in the interrupted flow. By utilizing the data that were investigated in the same road and traffic conditions and the different weather conditions (rainy day or clear day), the modification factors were founded on regression analysis of the travel speed during rainfall as a dependent variable. Modification factors was suggested in dividing peak time, non-peak time, and whole period. Based on this study, the modification factors can be used to complementing the average travel speed model for assessing the operational situation of urban streets during rainfall.
