FolkRank++: An Optimization of FolkRank Tag Recommendation Algorithm Integrating User and Item Information

  • The graph-based tag recommendation algorithm FolkRank can effectively utilize the relationships between three entities, namely users, items and tags, and achieve better tag recommendation performance. However, FolkRank does not consider the internal relationships of user-user, item-item and tag-tag. This leads to the failure of FolkRank to effectively map the tagging behavior which contains user neighbors and item neighbors to a tripartite graph. For item-item relationships, we can dig out items that are very similar to the target item, even though the target item may not have a strong connection to these similar items in the user-item-tag graph of FolkRank. Hence this paper proposes an improved FolkRank algorithm named FolkRank++, which fully considers the user-user and item-item internal relationships in tag recommendation by adding the correlation information between users or items. Based on the traditional FolkRank algorithm, an initial weight is also given to target user and target item's neighbors to supply the user-user and item-item relationships. The above work is mainly completed from two aspects: (1) Finding items similar to target item according to the attribute information, and obtaining similar users of the target user according to the history behavior of the user tagging items. (2) Calculating the weighted degree of items and users to evaluate their importance, then assigning initial weights to similar items and users. Experimental results show that this method has better recommendation performance.

The Etrance Authentication Systems Using Real-Time Object Extraction and the RFID Tag (얼굴 인식과 RFID를 이용한 실시간 객체 추적 및 인증 시스템)

  • In this paper, the proposal system can achieve the more safety of RFID System with the 2-step authentication procedures for the enhancement about the security of general RFID systems. After authentication RFID Tag, additionally, the proposal system extract the characteristic information in the user image for acquisition of the additional authentication information of the user with the camera. In this paper, the system which was proposed more enforce the security of the automatic entrance and exit authentication system with the cognitive characters of RFID Tag and the extracted characteristic information of the user image through the camera. The RFID system which use the active tag and reader with 2.4GHz bandwidth can recognize the tag of RFID in the various output manner. Additionally, when the RFID system have errors, the characteristic information of the user image is designed to replace the RFID system as it compare with the similarity of the color, outline and input image information which was recorded to the database previously. In the result of experiment, the system can acquire more exact results as compared with the single authentication system when it using RFID Tag and the information of color characteristics.

A Web Contents Ranking System using Related Tag & Similar User Weight (연관 태그 및 유사 사용자 가중치를 이용한 웹 콘텐츠 랭킹 시스템)

  • In current Web 2.0 environment, one of the most core technology is social bookmarking which users put tags and bookmarks to their interesting Web pages. The main purpose of social bookmarking is an effective information service by use of retrieval, grouping and share based on user's bookmark information and tagging result of their interesting Web pages. But, current social bookmarking system uses the number of bookmarks and tag information separately in information retrieval, where the number of bookmarks stand for user's degree of interest on Web contents, information retrieval, and classification serve the purpose of tag information. Because of above reason, social bookmarking system does not utilize effectively the bookmark information and tagging result. This paper proposes a Web contents ranking algorithm combining bookmarks and tag information, based on preceding research on associative tag extraction by tag clustering. Moreover, we conduct a performance evaluation comparing with existing retrieval methodology for efficiency analysis of our proposed algorithm. As the result, social bookmarking system utilizing bookmark with tag, key point of our research, deduces a effective retrieval results compare with existing systems.

A Tag-based Music Recommendation Using UniTag Ontology (UniTag 온톨로지를 이용한 태그 기반 음악 추천 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a music recommendation method considering users' tags by collaborative tagging in a social music site. Since collaborative tagging allows a user to add keywords chosen by himself to web resources, it provides users' preference about the web resources concretely. In particular, emotional tags which represent human's emotion contain users' musical preference more directly than factual tags which represent facts such as musical genre and artists. Therefore, to classify the tags into the emotional tags and the factual tags and to assign weighted values to the emotional tags, a tag ontology called UniTag is developed. After preprocessing the tags, the weighted tags are used to create user profiles, and the music recommendation algorithm is executed based on the profiles. To evaluate the proposed method, a conventional playcount-based recommendation, an unweighted tag-based recommendation, and an weighted tag-based recommendation are executed. Our experimental results show that the weighted tag-based recommendation outperforms other two approaches in terms of precision.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel approach to construction of classification hierarchies for user tags of folksonomies, using WordNet-based Formal Concept Analysis tool, called TagLighter, which is developed on this research. Finally, to give evidence of the usefulness of this approach in practice, we describe some experiments on user tag data of Bibsonomy.org site. The classification hierarchies of user tags constructed by our approach allow us to gain a better and further understanding and insight in tagged data during information retrieval and data analysis on the folksonomy-based systems. We expect that the proposed approach can be used in the fields of web data mining for folksonomy-based web services, social networking systems and semantic web applications.

  • The complexity and consistency are important factors that affect human information processing in use of product. In this study, complexity and consistency of product(remote controller) are measured by Task Action Grammar(TAG) model. Also, new design alternative of the user interface is presented and evaluated. The results show that the consistent system and the good correspondence between hierarchical structure of system and user's mental model lead to the reduction of errors and enhanced user's performance.

  • Currently, the rise of social tagging has changing taxonomy to folksonomy. Tag represents a new approach to organizing information. Nonhierarchical classification allows data to be freely gathered, allows easy access, and has the ability to move directly to other content topics. Tag is expected to play a key role in clustering various types of contents, it is expand to network in the common interests among users. First, this paper determine the relationships among user, tags and resources in social tagging system and examine the circumstances of what aspects to users when creating a tag related to features of websites. Therefore, this study uses tags from the social bookmarking service 'del.icio.us' to analyze the features of tag words when adding a new web page to a list. To do this, websites features classified into 7 items, it is known as tag classification related to resources. Experiments were conducted to test the proposed classify method in the area of music, photography and games. This paper attempts to investigate the perspective in which users apply a tag to a webpage and establish the capacity of expanding a social service that offers the opportunity to create a new business model.

  • Since IR systems which adopt only Boolean IR model can not provide ranked search result, users have to conduct time-consuming checking process for huge result sets one by one. This study proposes a method to provide search results ranked by using coupling information between tags instead of index weight information in Boolean IR model. Because document queries are used instead of general user queries in the proposed method, key tags used as queries in a relevant document are extracted. A variety of groups of Boolean queries based on tag couplings are created in the process of extracting queries. Ranked search result can be extracted through the process of matching conducted with differential information among the query groups and tag significance information. To prove the usability of the proposed method, the experiment was conducted to find research trend analysis information on selected research information. Aslo, the service based on the proposed methods was provided to get user feedback for a year. The result showed high user satisfaction.

A Study on Rule Schemas of User Interface in HCI Devices (HCI 장치의 사용자 인터페이스 규칙스키마에 관한 연구)

  • As humans perform many tasks using computers, HCI(Human-Computer Interaction) has received much attention these days. One objective of HCI research is to propose how to design more consistent systems. In order to evaluate the consistency of HCI devices from the user's perspective, several models such as TAG(Task Action Grammar), GOMS(Goals-Operators-Methods-Selection Rule), and GTN(General Transition Network) have been developed. TAG specifies actions to perform tasks in terms of rule schema. It has been verified that the less the number of rule schema is, the better users perform the tasks due to assumably higher consistency. This paper hypothesizes that the consistency of systems depends not only on the number of rule schema but also on the distances between rule schema. That is, the closer the rule schema are, the easier it is to acquire the whole set of rule schema. An experiment supported this hypothesis. Therefore, distances between rule schema should be considered as well as the number of rule schema when designing systems.
