Puck 파손기준-손상역학 연계이론을 활용한 적층 복합재료의 점진적 파손해석기법 개발 (Development of Progressive Failure Analysis Method for Composite Laminates based on Puck's Failure Criterion-Damage Mechanics Coupling Theories)

  • In the present study, an evaluation method for progressive failure of composite laminates has been proposed based on Puck's failure criterion and damage mechanics. The initial failure (or initiation of crack/delamination) has been assessed using Puck's failure criterion, and the progressive failure (or growth of crack/delamination) has been evaluated using fiber- and matrix-dependent damage variables. Based on Puck's failure criterion-damage mechanics coupling theories, the ABAQUS user-defined subroutine UMAT has been developed in order to analyze the progressive failure of glass/carbon fiber-reinforced composite laminates efficiently. In addition, the developed subroutine has been applied to progressive failure problem of industrial composite laminates, and the analysis results has been compared to experimental results which have been already reported in publications. It was confirmed that the simulation results were coincided well with the reported composite failure results.

Hashin·Puck 파손기준 기반 적층 복합재료의 섬유 및 기지파손 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Fiber and Matrix Failures for Laminated Composites using Hashin·Puck Failure Criteria)

  • In the present study, the fiber and matrix failure of composite laminates under arbitrary biaxial stresses were evaluated based on separate mode criteria such as Hasnin and Puck theories. There is a limitation to predict the fiber-dominant and/or matrix-dominant failures under arbitrary stress states using limit criteria (maximum stress and maximum strain theories) and interactive criteria (Tsai-Hill and Tsai-Wu theories). There is little literature for failure analysis of ships and offshore composite structures considering advanced failure theories such as Hashin and Puck theories. Furthermore, there is not enough practical commercial finite element analysis (FEA) code which is basically adopted the separate mode criteria. Hence, in the present study, the user-defined subroutine of commercial FEA code ABAQUS for evaluation of fiber and matrix failures of composite structures was developed based on Hashin and Puck failure criteria. And then, the proposed subroutine was validated by comparing with a series of experimental results of carbon- and glass-implemented composite laminates to guarantee the reliability and usefulness of the developed method.

  • 본 연구에서는 유한요소 해석 상용 소프트웨어 중 하나인 ABAQUS 을 이용하여 기존의 ABAQUS 가 고려하지 못했던 상변태와 변태소성을 고려하는 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 실제 용접 공정 해석을 수행하였다. 열원의 크기와 분포, 속도, 이동 경로 등을 모사하기 위해서 DFLUX 를,복합상에서의 재료의 열팽창 계수와 열변형률을 정의하기 위해서 UEXPAN 을 코딩하였다. 또한 재료의 상분율 및 온도에 따른 열적 구성 거동을 정의하기 위해서 UMATHT를 상변태와 그에 따른 변태소성을 반영하여 응력을 갱신하는 UMAT을 구현하였다. User Subroutine UMAT 은 아탄성 수식화와 합분해를 이용하여 증분형(Rate-form)으로 응력을 갱신하며 아탄성 수식화를 이용하여 상변태와 변태소성이 고려된 대응접선 계수가 새롭게 정의되었다. 프로그램의 타당성과 정확성을 검증하기 위해서 이미 그 정확성이 입증된 GFC(General Finite-element Code)를 사용하였다.

유정압베어링 운동특성의 효과적인 예측을 위한 새로운 유막 해석방법의 개발 (Development of a New Analysis Method of Fluid Film for Efficient Estimate of the Moving Characteristics of Hydrostatic Bearings)

  • Hydrostatic bearings are widely used in precision machines due to their high motion guide accuracy, low friction and high load carrying capacity. It is very useful to estimate the moving characteristics of hydrostatic bearings in the design stage. A new method is suggested for the analysis of fluid film in hydrostatic bearings. A combined mesh of 8 node solid elements with negligible deformation resistance and spring-dashpot elements is used in conjunction with the user subroutine of ABAQUS to represent the fluid film. The mesh can be used to capture the deformation of the bearing structure as well as the varying properties of fluid film. Analysis results from the finite element model are compared with theoretical solutions, results from FLUENT analysis and some previous works. With this method, static and dynamic analyses of the system containing the bearings can be performed efficiently.

Waspaloy 터빈디스크의 열간 단조시 결정립분포 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Grain Size Distribution in Hot Forging of Waspaloy Turbine Disc)

  • The microstructure evolution during a hot forging of Waspaloy was investigated using the recrystallization model and FEM simulation. In order to obtain an uniform microstructure, hot forging was carried out by two step. The change of grain size during hot forging has a deep connection with dynamic recrystallization behavior. Avrami-type constitutive equation for the dynamic recrystallization was implemented into an user subroutine of 2D FE simulator. The evolution of grain structure in the two-step forging of Waspaloy was simulated using the 2D FEM user-subroutine. The detailed variation of microstructures due to dynamic recrystallization could effectively be predicted at various locations in a forged pancake.

  • 원자로 내부구조물은 파손시 원자로 안전 운전/정지에 주요한 영향을 미칠 수 있으며 중성자 조사 수준이 높아 중성자 조사와 관련된 다양한 열화가 발생하였거나 잠재적으로 발생할 수 있다. 원자로 내부구조물의 주요 재질인 오스테나이트 스테인리스 강은 중성자 조사에 따라 인장/크리프 물성, 파괴인성 등 기계적 재료 거동에 변화가 발생한다. 각종 열화기구에 대한 원자로 내부구조물의 구조 건전성이 설계수명 또는 계속운전 기간 동안 유지됨을 평가할 때 중성자 조사에 따른 기계적 재료거동의 변화를 고려하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 중성자 조사에 따른 기계적 재료거동의 변화를 고려한 사용자 정의 보조 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 사용자 정의 보조 프로그램을 다양한 조건에 대해 검증한 결과, 타당함을 확인하였다.

열 사이펀의 열전도율 산정을 위한 수치해석 모델 개발 (Development of Numerical Analysis Model for the Calculation of Thermal Conductivity of Thermo-syphon)

  • 북극권과 같은 한대지역의 동상민감성 지반은 계절적 대기 온도 변화 및 설치된 구조물의 온도에 의해 지반의 융기 및 침하 문제가 존재한다. 이러한 동상민감성 지반의 융기 및 침하 방지를 위한 지반안정화 공법으로는 매립 및 치환공법, 열 사이펀 등이 존재한다. 여기서 열 사이펀이란 내부 냉매의 증발, 응축을 반복하며 열 순환을 통해 이상 유동(two-phase flow)의 형태로 냉매가 지반의 온도를 외부로 전달하여 지반 온도를 조절 할 수 있는 공법이다. 본 연구는 이러한 열 사이펀의 성능을 열전도율로 수치화하기 위하여 ABAQUS 내부의 User-subroutine 코딩을 통해 열 사이펀을 지중의 한 열원으로 간주, 경계조건으로 적용시켜 기존 문헌의 열 사이펀 실내모형실험의 온도분포 결과와 비교하여 산정하였다.

Multiaxial ratcheting assessment of Z2CND18.12N steel using modified A-V hardening rule

  • Based on Ahmadzadeh-Varvani hardening rule (A-V model), multiaxial ratcheting effect of Z2CND18.12N austenitic stainless steel is simulated by ABAQUS with user subroutine UMAT. The results show that the predicted results of the origin multiaxial A-V model are lower than the experimental data, and it is difficult to control ratcheting strain rate. In order to improve the predicted capability of A-V model, the A-V model is modified. In this study. Moreover, under the assumption of the von Mises yield criterion and normal plasticity flow rule, we develop a numerical algorithm of plastic strain with the improved model to implement the finite element calculation of the model. Internal iteration in the numerical algorithm was implemented with the Euler backward method, which calculated the trial strain for each equilibrium iteration using the consistent tangent matrix. With a user subroutine, the proposed model is programmed into ABAQUS for a user - executable version. By simulating the uniaxial ratcheting of a round bar made of Z2CND18.12N austenitic stainless steel, we observe that the predicted results simulated by ABAQUS with UMAT are compared with the experimental data. The predicted results of the improved multiaxial A-V model are consistent well with the experimental data.

  • This paper develops a relatively comprehensive and sophisticated constitutive model of concrete for finite element analysis of concrete structures. The present model accounts for the hydrostatic pressure sensitivity and Lode angle dependence behavior of concrete, not only in its strength criterion, but also in its hardening characteristics. The implementation is carried out through incorporating the developed concrete model in User Subroutine Material(UMAT) of the general-purpose FE program ABAQUS(v.5.8). It is found that the model can sufficiently predict the hardening as well as the softening behaviour of concrete under high confining pressure.

ABAQUS 서브루틴을 이용한 레일 보수용접 잔류응력 해석 (Residual Stress Analysis of Repair Welded Rail Using the ABAQUS User Subroutine)

  • Reduction of welding residual stress is very important in the railway industry, but calculating its distribution in structures is difficult because welding residual stress formation is influenced by various parameters. In this study, we developed a finite element model for simulating the repair welding process to recover a surface damaged rail, and conducted a series of parametric studies while varying the cooling rate and the duration of post weld heat treatment (PWHT) to find the best conditions for reducing welding residual stress level. This paper presents a three-dimensional model of the repair welding process considering the phase transformation effect implemented by the ABAQUS user subroutine, and the results of parametric studies with various cooling rates and PWHT durations. We found that heat treatment significantly reduced the residual stress on the upper rail by about 170 MPa.
