  • This study attempts to find out the users' attitudes regarding interior design(for finishing, moods, and elements of interior design) and suggests the attitude model of interior design for the apartments, For this purpose, a field survey has been carried out with 321 households living in the apartments in Pusan. The relationships between the residents' characteristics and their attitudes toward interior design were examined in view of developing more diverse interior design alternatives for the apartments. The major findings are as follows: 1. Most residents in the apartments are interested in making diversified dwelling units and want to have diverse interior design alternatives. 2. The users' attitudes regarding interior design are significantly different according to the function of each room(master bedroom, living room kitchen, and bath room) and the household characteristics(age of housewife. income, and family life-cycle). 3. The attitude models of interior design are suggested as 3 types(6 models)according to residents' housing area and income. These findings could be used as useful data for developing diverse design alternatives to correspond with users' preferences.

  • During the last ten years, effort has been made for reducing maintenance cost for aged equipments and ensuring safety, efficiency and profitability of petrochemical and refinery plants. Hence, it was required to develop advanced methods which meet this need. RBI(Risk Based Inspection) methodology is one of the most promising technology satisfying the requirements in the field of integrity management. In this study, a qualitative assessment algorithm for RBI based on the API 581 code was reconstructed for developing an RBI software. The user-friendly realRBI software is developed with a module for evaluating qualitative risk category using the potential consequence factor and the likelihood factor.

  • This study suggests the visual contents of environment education using the Rainwater, Visual contents is more effective than writings in terms of delivering information. Environment education needs to be performed from the stage of early childhood as environment can be dealt throughout the overall daily life of learners. This study is to utilize animation contents for environment education to shift recognition of user on environment and deliver the information. For this purpose, virtual space, a theme park with motif of rain city operated by Rainwater was established. Then the process of utilizing Rainwater was shown using rides. Imaginary animal, a dragon and endangered animals were visualized as characters. So this paper is to suggest the possibility of visualization of environment education contents and stimulate 'interest' and provide educational information' on utilizing the Rainwater.

  • The heart rate is the most important vital sign in diagnosing heart status. The simple method to measure the heart rate in the mobile healthcare device is using the PPG signal. In developing the mobile healthcare device using the PPG signal, the most important issue is the inaccuracy of the measured heart rate because the PPG signal is distorted from the user's motions. To improve the problem, this study proposed the new method that is to estimate the heart rate without an additional sensor in real life. The proposed method in this study is using the histogram filter. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the study compares its results with the moving average method in motion environment. According to the experimental results, the performance of the proposed method was more than 40% better than the performances of the MAF.

  • Residential network is the hybrid technology of wireless, Ethernet, Bluetooth and RF to the internet via broadband connection at home to facilitate the convenient, safe and pleasant daily lives of home user with various home network services regardless of device, time and place. For ubiquitous development more devices will be wireless and most of them will be roaming. Since these roaming devices carry private information of daily life of residential users, the interaction among the roaming devices of residential network must be secure. This paper presents to secure registration of roaming devices using IP Security (IPSec) Protocol Suite without the need to trust foreign agents.

  • The storage style has changed because of diversity of family types, improvement of cost of living, and increase of leisure time. In spite of this change, storage space has still caused discomfort since it did not consider residents' convenience. Therefore, in this study, Brand Apartments were selected, furniture detail drawing was analyzed by plan of housing size and zone to calculate storage area and capacity, and finally needs of storage space were analyzed using survey. Satisfaction of storage space was generally low and $20{\sim}30%$ increase of storage space was demanded. The reasons why the storage space was not satisfied are followed. First, storage space was insufficient. Second, the inner structure of storage space was unified. According to change of life style, needs have changed. To satisfy these needs, the inner division of storage space is planned with considering various items. In addition, development of hardware, flexible division, and priority of storage space with considering user's convenience are needed.

  • Artificial environments and spaces developed in 20th century provided conveniences and comforts and developed spatial thoughts of interior design. But it caused significant environmental estrangement due to environmental disruption and materialism. This caused raising necessity of emotional design in human life spatial design as liberation of human nature is discussed and interest in emotion among human natures is being enhanced. This study manages how emotional design is expressed in basic area of human, residential area. Emotional design is proceeding to the direction designing interface between human and environment considering human physical and psychological characteristics focused on correlation between human and interior space. Therefore through this study, meanings and effects of design considering user emotions are reviewed to materialize expressing factors for combining into actual design.

  • Philippe Starck is a famous french designer known for his creative works in all aspects of life from architectural space to product design. Especially, in regard to furniture, he designed more than 250 works with various design characteristics. This study therefore aims to examinate the characteristics of furniture designed by Philippe Starck through assessment of his design background and philosophy, evaluation of fifty or so of his works in terms of their function, form, material, and emotions, and lastly through a chronological analysis. As a result from this study, following various results are drawn as design characteristic through forty six representative cases: 1) possibility of fabrication and transformation 2) multi-function or optional function for user 3) pursuit of simplicity using the characteristic of singular material or mono block and immateriality 4) emotional approach in design 5) non-design method such as use of archetype or historical form.

  • The process of determining the optimal tool path in PCB(printed circuit board) drilling operations is identical with that of solving a TSP(traveling salesman problem). However, the optimal solution will be ruined when a drill bit needs tracking back in its tool paths. The back tracking occurrences shorten a life of the main spindle and result in inaccurate mechanical movements. In this study, the performances of four heuristics(Nearest Neighbor, Convex Hull, Greatest Angle and Most Eccentric Ellipse) are evaluated to obtain feasible tool paths along with less number of back trackings for a large number of holes(more than 2000holes/bit) and to generate corresponding NC codes for a given CNC drill. Also, the operations of these algorithms are visualized to show a user the graphic image of tool visitation with PCB holes on a computer screen.

  • In this paper, we deal with an optimal software-release problem of determining the time to stop testing and release the software system to the user. The optimal release time problem is considered from maintenance like the periodic distribution of service packs and the unpredictable distribution of patches after the release. Moreover, the environment of software error-detection during operation differs from the environment during testing. This paper proposes the software reliability growth model which incorporates periodic service packs, unpredictable patches and operational environment. Based on the proposed model, we derive optimal release time to minimize total cost composed of fixing an error, testing and maintenance. Using numerical examples, optimal release time is determined and illustrated.
