Effect of GA3 Treatment on Seed Germination, Seedling Growth and Useful Component Content of Angelica acutiloba (Siebold & Zucc.) Kitagawa (GA3 처리 왜당귀의 종자 발아, 유묘 생육 및 유용성분 특성 분석)

  • Germination, growth characteristics, and content of useful components were analyzed through GA3 treatment of Angelica acutiloba (Siebold & Zucc.) Kitagawa seeds, to provide basic data for cultivation technology. The moisture absorption rate of the seeds was 62.07% after 2 hours of soaking, and the highest value was 122.15% after 48 hours. The appropriate seed germination temperature for the species ranged from 10℃ to 25℃. It was confirmed that the growth of seedlings increased as the GA3 concentration increased, but there was no significant difference in the content of useful components according to the GA3 treatment.

Characteristics and Useful Life Prediction of Rubber Spring for Railway Vehicle (전동차용 방진고무스프링 특성 및 사용수명 예측)

  • Rubber components are widely used in many application such as vibration isolators, damping, ride quality. Rubber spring is used in primary suspension system for railway vehicle. Characteristics and useful life prediction of rubber spring was very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability. Non-linear properties of rubber material which are described as strain energy function are important parameter to design and evaluate of rubber spring. These are determined by physical tests which are uniaxial tension, equi-biaxial tension and pure shear test. The computer simulation was executed to predict and evaluate the load capacity and stiffness for rubber spring. In order to investigate the useful life, the acceleration test were carried out. Acceleration test results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of the useful life and time to threshold value were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot. By using the acceleration test, several useful life prediction for rubber spring were proposed.

  • W-Cu alloy was very useful material for a heat sink, high electric contact and EDM electrode. Powder injection molding (PIM) is the optimum manufacturing technology to provide W-Cu components with low-cost and high-volume. We used various compositions of tungsten coated copper powders (W-Cu with 10 to 80 wt-% of copper) to manufacture W-Cu components by PIM. The optimum mixing, injection molding, debinding and sintering conditions to provide the high performance W-Cu components were investigated. The thermal and mechanical properties of W-Cu parts by PIM were measured. Finally, we can verify the high performance of W-Cu components by PIM with the tungsten coated copper.

  • The materials characteristics and lifetime evaluation are very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability of rubber components. This paper discusses the failure mechanism and material test were carried out to predict the useful life of NBR and EPDM rubber mount for compression motor which is used in refrigerator. In order to investigate the heat-aging effects on the materials properties, stress-strain curve were obtained from the results of material tests. Compression set results changes as the threshold are used for assessment of useful life and the time were plotted against reciprocal of absolute temperature to give the Arrhenius plot.

  • A study on the recovery of useful components from waste tire. This study was carried out investigate the recovery of fuel oil condensed from gases formed in the pyrolysis of waste tire. Energy to require the pyrolysis of waste tire was used the heat that was produced by the combustion of the gases from the pyrolysis of waste tire itself. The results are as follows; 1. Energy to require forming the fuel oil by the pyrolysis of waste tire was used only 1/6 quantities of waste tire for forming fuel oil. 2. The formed fuel oil were light oil, Kerosene and gasoline 3. The pollutants of combustion gas of patronizable gases was lower than standard Value.

  • In the screening of those components with comparatively strong xanthine oxidase inhibition activities from Panax ginseng folium. trifolin. panasenoside. kaempferol and so far unconfirmed phenol whose chemical structure still without elucidation have been discovered as such components. Specific inhibitors of xanthine oxidase are thought to be therapeutically useful for the treatment of gout. Such opinion is considered to be useful to support the thought that ginseng folium is effective for the adjustment of gout. Although trifolin. panasenoside. and kaempferol are well known flavonoids. further studies on unidentified new phenols should be continued.

  • The Substructure Synthesis means the technology to predict the dynamic properties of an assembly from the properties of its components, or to predict the effect of a modification on a structure. The FRF Based Substructuring method is a kind of the Substructure Synthesis and very useful to predict the efficiency of the product in the early stage of development. Especially, the Hybrid FBS method is very useful to predict the vehicle NVH characteristics after modifying some components of the vehicle. Target components can be established on the basis of test models and FE models of the prototype constructed in the early stage of development. In this study, the Hybrid FBS method was applied to vehicle subframe and car-body in order to reduce vehicle interior noise induced by engine exciting force.

Volatile Compounds of Pine Needle(Pinus rigida Miller) Extracts (소나무(Pinus rigida Miller) 잎 추출물의 휘발성 성분)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate whether pine needle extracts can be used as tobacco flavors. Yield of essential oil, absolute and oleoresin extracted from pine needles is 0.07%, 1.20% and 6.08% respectively. The volatile compounds isolated from the three types of extracts were analyzed by gas chromatography(GC) and mass selective detector(MSD). Total 72 components were identified in the three type of extracts including 26 hydrocarbons, 16 alcohols, 13 esters, 9 acids, 4 phenols, 2 aldehydes and 2 ketones compounds. The major components were $\beta$-pinene, $\beta$-caryophyllene, $\delta$-cadinene and 4,5-dimethyl-1,3 -dioxol-2-one. There were 49 volatile components in the absolute, 44 components in the essential oil and 26 components in the oleoresin. The content of hydrocarbons and alcohols was higher in the essential oil extracted by simultaneous distillation extraction(SDE) than in others, while that of esters and acids was higher in the absolute than in others. Especially, phenols and ketones were identified only in the oleoresin. The components such as $\beta$-pinene, bornyl acetate, $\alpha$-terpineol and oxygenated terpenes have characteristic piney and fresh green odor. The contents of these components was higher in the essential oil and the absolute than in the oleoresin. Therefor, the essential oil and the absolute are expected to be more useful than the oleoresin as tobacco flavor.
