중고령자의 디지털 이용태도가 생활 만족도에 미치는 영향: 온라인 네트워크 활동과 디지털 정보생산·공유활동의 직렬다중매개효과 분석 (Impact of attitude towards digital usage on life satisfaction of middle age and older adults: Sequential Mediation analysis in online networking activity and digital information production·sharing activities)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 중고령자의 디지털 이용태도와 생활 만족도 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 온라인 네트워크 활동과 디지털 정보생산·공유활동의 직렬다중매개효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 연구의 주 목적을 달성하기 위해 Hayes(2013)의 PROCESS for SPSS Macro을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 디지털이용태도와 생활 만족도는 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 중고령자의 디지털 이용태도가 온라인 네트워크 활동을 경유해 생활 만족도에 미치는 영향보다 디지털 이용태도가 온라인 네트워크 활동을 거쳐 디지털 정보생산·공유활동을 경유한 후 생활 만족도에 미치는 영향이 .0291단위만큼 유의하게 더 크다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 중고령자의 디지털 이용태도와 생활 만족도, 온라인 네트워크 활동, 디지털 정보생산·공유활동 간의 관계를 통합적으로 살펴봄으로써 중고령자의 디지털 이용 및 생활 만족도 제고를 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있다는 점에 의의를 가진다.

An Empirical Study of the Usage Performance of Mobile Emoticons : Applying to the Five Construct Model by Huang et al.

  • Emoticons perform an important role as an enhancement to written communication, in areas such as Windows Live Messenger instant messaging, e-mails, mobile Short Message Services (SMS), and others. Emoticons are graphic images used in communications to indicate the feelings of people exchanging messages via mobile technology. In this research, the perceived usefulness of the emoticon in mobile phone text messages is verified with consumers using the five construct model of Huang. A K-means clustering technique for separating three groups based on levels of perceived usefulness of mobile emoticons is used with a structural equation model test using Smart PLS 2.0, and the bootstrap re-sampling procedure. We analyzed relationships among use of emoticons, enjoyment, interaction, information richness, and perceived usefulness. The results show there are relationships among use of emoticons, enjoyment, interaction, perceived usefulness, and information richness, however enjoyment of emoticons did not significantly affect the perceived usefulness of messages with emoticons alone. The results suggest emoticons have different affects on emotion in both mobile, and Messenger contexts. Our study did not consider more detailed media properties, and thus more studies are needed. Our research results contribute to mobile communication activation, provides companies with an understanding of key characteristics of consumers who use emoticons, and provides useful implications for improving management and marketing strategies.

  • 본 사례연구의 사례는 휴대폰의 주된 용도인 커뮤니케이션 기능 외에 체중관리, 식이요법관리를 중심으로 지압, 요가 가이드 등을 묶은 웰빙 기능을 휴대전화에 구현한 과정이다. 휴대전화는 항상 휴대하고 다니는 기기라는 점 때문에 이러한 사용자 개인의 사생활 정보를 관리하기에 적합한 장점을 가지며 특히 개인화 되는 트랜드에 따라 통신 외적인 새로운 기능들이 다양하게 개발되게 되었다. 본 사례연구에서는 실용성 있고 실제 사용자의 생활에 더욱 더 밀접하게 개발하기 위한 방법으로 라이프 스타일을 연구를 통해 20 대 후반의 직장여성을 페르소나로 설정하여 이에 따라 만들어진 시나리오에 의해 어떠한 기능이 필요할 것인지 결정하고 필요한 콘텐츠를 만들었다. 이러한 사례를 통해 휴대전화가 향후 어떻게 개인화 된 콘텐츠를 제공하고 적절한 사용성을 가진 기능으로 이 콘텐츠를 이용할 수 있는지에 대한 사용자 중심적 디자인의 실제적 사례를 제시하고 향후 보다 개인화 된 기능을 개발 하기 위한 지침으로 제시하고자 한다.

  • Given the growing expectations on the value and application of mobile office, we need to understand the factors which affect its successful use and implementation. We in this paper present a parsimonious model which integrates the IS success model and the TAM. The main feature of the model is that it allows one to explore the role of mobility of mobile office systems in determining the level of system usage and dependence. Although mobility is the key property of any mobile system, there is little research effort exerted to understand how mobility affects the traditional IS factors such as perceived ease of use and usefulness. In addition to the system usage, this model also uses dependence as the dependent variable. This is expected to provide richer understanding of the study context. We collected survey data from 1,614 field service workers of a major domestic electronic company. They use PDAs to retrieve information regarding the specifics of the customer service requests and to report what has been done for each service job. The results from SEM analysis show that mobility improves the perceived ease of use which then leads the field service workers to depend more on the PDA systems. Interestingly enough, however, the workers’ satisfaction does not cause more frequent use of the system.

Knowledge Management and Safety Compliance in a High-Risk Distributed Organizational System

  • Background: In a safety perspective, efficient knowledge management is important for learning purposes and thus to prevent errors from occurring repeatedly. The relationship between knowledge exchange among employees and safety behavior may be of particular importance in distributed organizational systems where similar high-risk activities take place at several locations. This study develops and tests hypotheses concerning the relationship between knowledge exchange systems usage, knowledge exchange in the organizational system, and safety compliance. Methods: The operational context of the study is petroleum drilling and well operations involving distributed high-risk activities. The hypotheses are tested by use of survey data collected from a large petroleum operator company and eight of its main contractors. Results: The results show that safety compliance is influenced by use of knowledge exchange systems and degree of knowledge exchange in the organizational system, both within and between units. System usage is the most important predictor, and safety compliance seems to be more strongly related to knowledge exchange within units than knowledge exchange between units. Conclusion: Overall, the study shows that knowledge management is central for safety behavior.

  • In recent years, the number of digital content transaction has increased dramatically, in main, owing to the innovation of IT technology. At the same time, it creates new problems which have never been found in traditional transactions. Especially, due to the easy-copy characteristics of digital content, the illegal usage of digital content proliferates. Also the conflicts between seller an d buyer in digital content transactions on cyberspace market take place frequently because contracts were made without face-to-face discussion. The increase of illegal usage and conflict in digital content market would diminish motivation of creators for their work, furthermore break down digital content market on cyberspace. Digital content transaction authentication system would play an important role in creating sound digital content market. Especially, it would make big contribution to reducing the number of conflict between seller and buyer. In this context, the main objective of this study is to suggest operational model of digital content transaction authentication and to explain critical success factors in organizing digital content transaction authentication system.

자유 위협과 개인화에 대한 사용자의 지각이 상품 추천 서비스 수용에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the User's Perceived Threat to Freedom and Personalization on Intention to Use Recommendation Services)

  • There are flourishing studies in the acceptance or usage of information systems literature. Most of them have taken the pro - acceptance view. Undesirably, information technologies often provoke users' reactance or resistance. This paper explores one of the negative reactions -psychological reactance. The present paper studies the effects of the users' perception of threatened freedom and personalization degree on intention to use recommendation services. High personalization can be a major motivation for users to accept recommendation systems. However recommendation services are a two-edged sword, which not only provides users the efficiency of decision making but also poses threats to free choice. When people consider that their freedom is reduced or threatened by others, they experience the motivational state to restore the freedom. This motivational state must be considered in understanding usage of information systems, especially personalized services which are designed for persuasion or compliance. This paper empirically investigates the effect of personalization and the psychological reactance on the intention to use information systems in the personalized recommendation context. Users' perception of personalization increases the usefulness of recommendation service while their perception of threat to freedom reduces the intention to use personalized recommendation service. Findings and implications are discussed.

Spatial Distance Effect in Shaping Perceived Similarity of Products in the Online Store

  • Purpose: Even though arranging images of products is a common practice in the online retail context, relatively little attention has been paid to the distance effect among alternatives, that is, how distance among displayed products can impact consumers' responses. Drawing on contagion theory, the primary goal of the current study is to investigate how spatial distance between two products in a product display can influence consumers' perceived similarity. Research design, data and methodology: This study used a 2(spatial distance: close vs. far) experimental design and collected data from undergraduate students in Korea through an online survey using Qualtrics. ANOVA was conducted to test the proposed effect, in which the dependent variables are the perceived similarity of usage occasion/purpose (Study 1) and the indexed differences of perceived brand statuses between two products (Study 2). Results: The results of both experiments indicated that the displayed products were perceived to be more similar to one another when products were presented close together (vs. far). Conclusions: The results help to fill a research gap and provide a better understanding of the role of physical distance in diverse marketing communications. This is especially useful when designing online shopping websites to form perceptions of brand images.

A Study of Consumers' Perceived Risk, Privacy Concern, Information Protection Policy, and Service Satisfaction in the Context of Parcel Delivery Services

  • The proposed conceptual framework is based in the relationships among knowledge of personal information security, trust on the personal information security policies of parcel delivery service companies, privacy concern, trust in and risk of parcel delivery services, and user satisfaction with parcel delivery services. Drawing upon both cognitive theory of emotion and cognitive emotion theory that complement each other, we propose a research model and examine the relationships between cognitive and emotional factors and the usage of parcel delivery services. The proposed model is validated using data from customers who have previously used parcel delivery services. The results show a significant relationship between the cognitive and affective factors and the usage of parcel delivery services. This study enhances our understanding of parcel delivery services based on the consumers' psychological processes and presents useful implications on the importance of privacy and security in these services.
