This study was conducted to analyze the factors influencing participation intention in urban agriculture. The theoretical foundations of the study were Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Pine and Gilmore's Experiencel Economy. The type of household composition was set as the moderating variable between these independent and dependent variables. In order to test the research model, hierarchical regression analysis was conducted on 439 effective respondents. The empirical analysis results are as follows. Educational experience factors, escapist experience factors, attitudes, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, which were set as independent variables to positive (+) influence participation intention in urban agriculture. In addition, the impact of their influence relationship was as follows : perceived behavioral control > attitudes > escapist experience factor > subjective norm > educational experience factor. On the other hand, as a result of analyzing the moderating effect according to the household composition, there was a significant difference in the effect of educational experiences, escapist experiences, and subjective norm on participation intention in urban agriculture. Significant results were not tested on the moderating effects between attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and participation intention in urban agriculture. Based on the results of this empirical analysis, academic and practical implications were presented.
Open-rectangular plan Hanok is one of the major types that compose the urban tissues of Bukchon, a typical traditional residential area in Seoul. Through the comparison of the cadastral map of 1912 and the aerial photograph of 1962, the paper has given the outline of the and the distribution of Open-rectangular plan Hanok at Bukchon. And the paper defines the characteristics of Open-rectangular plan Hanok at Bukchon as followings. First, Open-rectangular plan Hanok at Bukchon is the mutated type of Open-rectangular plan Hanok in Kyong-gi Province. Second, the composition and characteristics of Bakat-chae and outer-courtyard have been changed through the adaptation itself to the compact lots of urban neighborhood. Third, the composition and characteristics of An-chae has not been changed except the inner corner bay, that gives the lights and view to An-bang through the window. And the comparison and observation of four examples, the paper defines the identities of Open-rectangular plan Hanok at Bukchon. The partial transformation comes from the conflicts and adjustments with the structure of alley and the topographical condition of lots.
The urban form of Korean cities significantly changed in the late Chosun dynasty. The influence of commercial development was the main cause of these changes. Commerce became a important function of existing cities, and the new type of commercial towns emerged at the important spots of traffic routes. In both cases streets became dominant element of urban form. Mainly commercial buildings aggregated along the streets, and to obtain higher land use intensity shape of lots became narrow and deep. Koyang(高陽) shows the most significant example of this new type of lot and lot pattern. Approximately 30 narrow and deep type of lots lined on each side of street forming about 390 meters long linear commercial town. Similar examples were found at the outside of south gate of Suwon(水原), Nuwon(樓院), and Pangyo(板橋).
This paper try to provide basic insight of the changing functions of urban parks for the future direction of the maintenance and management of the urban parks using the results of the case study done for the city of Osaka, Japan. To accomplish this purpose this study considers the behavior characteristics of the elderly within the parks in Osaka, Japan. Based on the findings of the study authors propose the chaining meaning of urban parks in the users perspective and summarize the results of the study. Study results show high values on the environmental factors of the park, such as the fresh air and the shadow of trees and low values on noise and stairways in it. The multidimensional quantitative III classifies the purposes of the elderly using the parks into 3 types: a multi-use type, a walking type and a sightseeing type.
New Seoul Town is a new town in Seoul Mapo-Gu, Which is planed by Seoul metropolitan government. There are Nanji Waste reclaimed land and Seoul world-cup stadium, which is under construction in the new town. This study is executed for urban nature conservation by assessing the biotope in the new town. The biotope map is mae by the selective mapping method, and assessing the biotope is executed by a quick method, which is originated with R. Wittig and Scheriber(1983). The assessment criteria include the period of development, area, rarity and variety of habitat condition. In the result from this study, biotope type of the new town is classified eight types, and all biotope type is valuable for nature conservation. The reason of this result is because of little natural area which is rice field, farm field, forest, swampy land, etc, except New Seoul Town, in Seoul Mapo-Gu. And so, Biotope in New A Seoul Town, must be conserved and restored in new town urban planning.
The main purpose of this study is to suggest fundamental materials and a guideline for design through grouping of the users' use route patterns and analyzing determinants to choose those route patterns in urban parks. Study sites were Jungang, Dlseong, and Beomeo park, where located Taegu city-Key results obtained through a series of investigation were as follows : When Users come in and out urban parks, most orientations of their use routes were counterclockwise, and not in such cases, greatly affected by facilities arrangement. There were a large number of users in the main route placed the principal facilities. Users' use route patterns were grouped by their characteristics, which were circulation, semi-circulation, irregular, and piston type. And all the types except piston type can be subdivided into spoon and loope type. Factors analysis to the types produced five meaningful patterns of variables. Five factors were named as dimension of characteristics : Park composition factor, facilities use factor, users' personal factor, park use behavioral factor, routes choice factor.
This study aims to propose the residential service for Active senior from the age of 40's to 60's who prefers urban-type lifestyle. The lifestyle for Active senior was reorganized into the 5 main categories; convenience, well-being & activity, community, brand & Individuality and self-expression from the recent studies about the senior lifestyle. According to the lifestyle above, I propose the residential services to meet their needs. The purpose of this article is to examine land use change in the fringe area of a metropolitan city through multi-temporal data analysis. Change detection has been regarded as one of the most important applications for utilization of remotely sensed imageries. Conventionally, two images were used for change detection, and Arithmetic calculators were generally used on the process. Meanwhile, multi-temporal change detection for a large number of images has been carried out. In this paper, a digital land-use map and three Landsat TM data were utilized for the multi-temporal change detection Each urban area map was extracted as a base map on the process of multi-temporal change detection. Each urban area map was converted to bit image by using boolean logic. Various urban change types could be obtained by stacking the urban area maps derived from the multi-temporal data using Geographic Information System(GIS). Urban change type map was created by using the process of piling up the bit images. Then the urban change type map was compared with each land cover map for the change detection. Dalseo-gu of Daegu city and Hwawon-eup of Dalsung-gun, the fringe area of Daegu Metropolitan city, were selected for the test area of this multi-temporal change detection method. The districts are adjacent to each other. Dalseo-gu has been developed for 30 yeais and so a large area of paddy land has been changed into a built-up area. Hwawon-eup, near by Dalseo-gu, has been influenced by the urbanization of Dalseo-gu. From 1972 to 1999, 3,507.9ha of agricultural area has been changed into other land uses, while 72.7ha of forest area has been altered. This agricultural area was designated as a 'Semi-agricultural area'by the National landuse Management Law. And it was easy for the preserved area to be changed into a built-up area once it would be included as urban area. Finally, the method of treatment and management of the preserved area needs to be changed to prevent the destruction of paddy land by urban sprawl on the urban fringe.
Objectives: The occurrence characteristics of BTEXS and phytoncides were investigated by type of urban forest. Methods: Four types of urban green space (Hongneung Forest, Mt. Chunjang, residential park, and traffic island) and Gwangneung Forest were selected. Monitoring of phytoncides and BTEXS was conducted considering the activity times of urban residents (five times per day) using a Tenax TA tube and suction pump in June 2017 (one day). Results: Phytoncide concentrations were ranked as Gwangneung Forest>Hongneung Forest>Mt. Cheonjang>traffic island>residential park. Relatively high concentrations of phytoncides were also identified in the urban forest. There was no significant difference between Gwangneung Forest and the urban forest. BTEXS concentrations were ranked as traffic island>residential park>Hongneung Forest>Gwangneung Forest>Mt. Cheonjang. Traffic island and residential park showed high levels of BTEXS depending on the inflow of vehicles. The difference in concentration by time was significant for the traffic island in particular. Pollutant levels in Hongneung Forest were as low as in Gwangneung Forest. Conclusion: The concentrations of phytoncides and BTEXS were different by types of urban green space, and the potential for health and hygiene of urban forests were able to be investigated. This study is expected to provide as basic data for the creation of urban forest spaces in the future.
Urban forest area in South Korea has been increased up to 20.8% of national land as of 2007 by the mergence of municipalities and counties. The rate of park and green tract among urban forest averages out to about 4% nationally but the Capital, Seoul, almost 105% level, not easy to split the two. Park and green has positive management system because of its infrastructure attribute and relevant security obligation standard while urban forest left alone with no such concerns. The most important reason of the negligence comes from institutional inertia although it is possible to be managed functionally by forest laws as like forests of park, landscape, wind and noise protection, and timber product. As a results, it reaches below than 92.64% of the national average level of the timber stockpile especially in the metropolitan areas and loses broad acres rapidly due to the easy conversion system to the urban land usage. Therefore, there must be required some alternative methodologies to conserve and foster it. The paper proposes the four urban forest management types and their control methods. The four types divide into conservation, foster, development, and reservation ones. Also it suggests the five furtherance tract types with the combination among the four earlier types, optionally having one of the six aim climaxes and recommends the standardization of operation design. The total green quantity index of urban forest also suggested by the weight method according to location and DBH class. The case study of the suggested model was executed on the Daejon Metropolitan area and its index calculated as 110.4% level compared with the acreage.
