Primary school is regarded as an important period when many health-related behaviors and life-styles begin to be formed. Acquiring them through school heath education has a strong influence on the health promotion of not only the family but also the community. The objectives of this study were to evaluate current oral health care of elementary schools in Chungnam province and to provide information for further development in elementary school oral health. We performed a questionnaire survey to 280 health teachers and among them, 155 teachers answered. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Sixty five percent of the health teachers had little interest in oral health. Major information sources for teaching oral health were books in 58.1% of the 155 teachers and 83.2% of teachers spent 30 minutes to 1hour per day in oral health care practice for the students. 2. Contents of the oral health education were composed of regular and special curriculums, and an average of education time during a semester was 2.6 hours in 3rd grade, and 1.3 hours in first and second grade. 60.6% of the teachers made the children practice the proper method of tooth brushing during the education time. 3. Major problems in oral health education were insufficient time, lack of equipment and difficulty in teaching method. The educational media were tooth models among 91.0% and OHP among 85.2% of the teachers. The tooth model was usually used in first to fourth grades and OHP in fifth to sixth grades. But 63.9% health teachers need to develop stronger educational methods using multimedia. 4. Meanwhile the most important strategy of oral health in urban schools was health education, that of rural schools was fluoride mouth-rinsing programme. Fluoride mouth-rinsing programmes were performed by 60.0% of the elementary school. Periodic dental examination was performed in all elementary schools. 98.2% of the schools sent the results home through school notification letters, but post-examination management was performed in only 67.1% of them 64.5% of the health teachers do follow-ups on the oral disease of the children after the examination. Only 0.7% of the schools have oral health education plans for the students' parents. Considering these major strategies for elementary school oral health care were health education, practicing proper methods of tooth brushing, periodic dental examinations, and fluoride mouth-rinsing programmes. But health teachers need more time for oral health education, practicing and management, and developing education materials. With regard to the high demand for oral health education and poor follow-up after periodic examination, the oral health education in elementary school should be considered as a formal educational course for more proper management of oral health, including application of major strategies to the children in earlier grades and efforts for increasing recognition and participation of the parents.

Recently, the knowledge industry center has played a role as a facility that creates economic added value because of the high-tech companies related to the knowledge industry, information, and communication. On the other hand, support facilities that are provided in the knowledge industry center are meant to support the company in the center and improve the working conditions of laborers. On the other hand, the support policy established by the government applies to some companies, and none of the support policy is carried out in supporting facilities in the knowledge industry center. In this study, multiple analysis was performed, focusing on the support facilities in the knowledge industry center that aims to improve the working environment of laborers. This study suggests the introduction of guidelines to secure adequate area, depending on the type of supporting facilities in the Knowledge Industrial Center. The sharing of facilities, such as cultural and commercial use for Knowledge Industrial Center, corresponding to poor provision, is recommended. Because the analysis of IPA indicates that the area of commercial support facilities are higher than others and cultural facilities are more important and preferred, it is necessary to compose support facilities that consider the user's individual characteristics. Facilities impacting the working environment need to be planned carefully through a district unit plan at the initial stages of development, thus assisting the production activity of workers.
As the concept of city changes city is viewed in the perspective of business to make profits, not in the perspective of physical space. In the case of Korea urbanization processed over the level of 80% and the formation of identity is suggested for the way to improve city competitiveness as of globalization and liberalization. Seoulentered the level of developed countries in the perspective of functions and facilities, but its image is evaluated poor because of the lack of cultural competitiveness, tourismattractiveness and service system. Dependency of public transportation which is public facilities representing city indirectly is very high, but in information service and visual systems of pubic transportation operations and management are not enough and differentiated image and loyalty are hard to find. In 2004 government of city of Seoul suggested modifications, but compared to London, Paris and Tokyo consistent system, the lack of control and management of use environment of design, excessive visual information and destruction of connection are pointed out. Therefore to solve these problems the introduction of design system is needed to develop identity after applying characteristics and regulations for using to disordered visual stuff. These procedurescan be explained as City Identity Program (CIP) and this study tries to embody city image through public transportation design system. As the study method for this the status of public transportation design system of London, Paris and Tokyo were searched and compared to that of Seoul. Based on this systematization of symbol marks per public transportation being used right now, the development of design guidelines to form identity, relation of design and the strategy of systematization per method and media were proposed.
The purpose of this study were to determine causes of low back pain in bus drivers who usually work in prolonged sitting position and to find the relationship of back pain with general characteristics and work environmental characteristics, stress symptoms, to com맹re lordosis angle of habitual driving posture and resting posture in low back pain group and non-low back pain group, and to use this result as a basis for improvement of work environment and comprehensive rehabilitative management of low back pain. Ninety-eight bus drivers were selected from the membership of an urban transit union in Seoul. These informations were collected from May 1, 1997 to May 25, 1997 by means of structured questionnaires and X-ray findings. These data were analyzed by $x^2$ test, t-test, logistic regression using SAS. The major results were as follows: 1. Of the respondents, 66.3% of bus drivers were found to be experiencing back pain. 2. Of the respondents of low back pain groups, 78.5% reported that major cause of low back pain was due to prolonged sitting. 3. The group with experiences of frequent or continuous vibration had more low back pain (p<0.05). There were no significant differences among other work environmental factors. 4. Average stress score was significantly higher in the group with low back pain than in the group without low back pain (p<0.05). 5. The results of the logistic regression analyses were statistically significant vibration from seat and stress score among the risk factors (p<0.05). 6. Averaged lordosis angle of habitual driving posture was $7.6{\pm}14.9$ degrees in low back pain group, $16.5{\pm}8.7$ degrees in non-low back pain and averaged lordosis angle of resting sitting posture was $10.8{\pm}13.7$ degrees in low back pain, $18.9{\pm}9.6$ degrees in non-low back pain group but the difference in mean lordosis angles of two groups was not statistically significant. The results of this study indicate that professional drivers developed chronicity of low back pain due to unfit seat, poor habitual posture and stress from vibration or other risk factors. Therefore, there is need to improve work environment, i.e. enough resting, to set a seat to support lumbar spine properly and to provide comprehensive rehabilitation program including early diagnosis, proper treatment and education for self help management.
This study was carried out to identify factors related to breakfasts in elementary, middle and high school students. This study was surveyed by questionnaires and data was analyzed by SPSS program. Exploratory analysis was conducted according to three school student groups (elementary children, middle school students, and high school students). The subjects were 1,886 school students (female 893, male 959) of 51 schools in the nationwide region. The distribution of subjects was elementary school children 544, middle school students 661 and high school students 681. The results are summarized as follows. Only sixty percent of the subjects had breakfast regularly. About one fourth of the subjects had the habit of skipping breakfast or eating it 2$\sim$3 times per week. Frequency of having breakfast and reasions of skipping breakfast were significantly different according to school student groups (p < 0.001 respectively). The rate of skipping breakfast was $14.4\%$ in elementary school, $16.1\%$ in middle school, and $25.0\%$ in high school. The main reason for skipping breakfast was 'not delicious or poor appetite' in elementary school ($42.5\%$), but 'busy' in middle ($50.2\%$) and high school ($61.1\%$). There was no significant difference in frequency of having breakfast according to living areas (rural and urban). There were not significant differences between frequency of having breakfast and BMI and degree of satisfaction on body weight. But there were significant difference in frequency of having breakfast according to economical status (p < 0.05). There were significant differences in degree of school performance according to frequency of having breakfast (p < 0.001) There was significant relationship between the time of attending school and the frequency of having breakfast. But there were significant relationships between frequency of having breakfast and time of rising. These findings suggested that the time of rising was controlled by having enough time that students eat breakfast. And mother (or person who prepares meals) must have more concerns about preparing breakfast for children and students.

Three simulation approaches for turbulence were applied for the computation of propane dispersion in a simplified real-scale urban area with one building:, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), Detached Eddy Simulation (DES), and Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS). The computations were performed using FLUENT 14, and the grid system was made with ICEM-CFD. The propane distribution depended on the prediction performance of the three simulation approaches for the eddy structure around the building. LES and DES showed relatively similar results for the eddy structure and propane distribution, while the RANS prediction of the propane distribution was unrealistic. RANS was found to be inappropriate for computation of the gas dispersion process due to poor prediction performance for the unsteady turbulence. Considering the computational results and cost, DES is believed to be the optimal choice for computation of the gas dispersion in a real-scale space.
The amount of new apartment construction has been trending upward in 3~4% each year since 11% increase in 2002. Currently, in public apartment construction sites under separate delivery system for construction waste processing, the significant difference between estimated quantity for contract and actual amount frequently causes severe controversy among project participants. Many factors such as poor environmental management, inadequate contractual amount are assumed to influence the above problem, and the requirement to revise existing generation rates, the key criteria applied in estimating the quantities of waste, is increasing. Most of generation rates were established in early 2000's, and have difficulty in reflecting the changes from new materials and technologies accordingly. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the types of construction waste for each trade and the forecast method as preliminary work in order to develop more accurate generation rates for construction waste in new construction. To achieve this purpose, the architectural bills of quantities in ten apartment projects executed during 2010~2013 were collected, and the possible waste types and reasonable material loss ratio for each item from temporary works to owner-supplying material area were defined and compared through the workshops and interviews with the experts and on-site environmental managers. The results of this study will contribute to establishing the categories of construction waste for construction trades and proper generation rates by the indirect estimation method in new apartment construction in the follow-up study.

Biological health in aquatic environments has been assessed by several approaches using various bio-taxa. Especially, fish has been identified as one of the best ecological indicators for an integrative health assessments in aquatic environments. In this preliminary study, the necropsy-based approach using the Health Assessment Index (Adams et al., 1993; HAI, Blazer, 2000), was employed for the assessments of aquatic environments influenced by effluent water from wastewater disposal plants (WDP) near a urban stream (i.e., Cap-Stream). For the impact analysis from the effluents, we developed 10 metric necropsy-based model including $M_l\;skin,\;M_2\;fin,\;M_3\;thymus,\;M_4\;spleen,\;M_5\;hindgut,\;M_6\;kidney,\;M_7\;liver.\;M_8\;eyes,\;M_9\;gill,\;and\;M_{10}$ pseudobranch. We set up duplicate controls (natural upstream water plus 5 fishes in each control tank) and duplicate treatments (effluent water from the WDP plus 5 fishes in each treatment tank) in the laboratory. Preliminary results showed that HAI values in the controls were zero, indicating an excellent condition by the criteria of HAI, while the HAI values in the treatments ranged between 40 and 150, indicating a poor condition. Also, various health conditions, based on the index of biological integrity (IBI), species richness, tolerance guilds, and trophic guilds supported the HAI approach. The HAI approach, not applied in Korea, not may be used as an surrogate fer ecological health assessment in lotic ecosystems.
While rural highways carry on lower traffic volumes, the deviations of running speeds between vehicles appear to be higher on rural highways than urban highways. The speed characteristic of rural highways is adding to pedestrian-related accidents which occur on a crosswalk with poor sight distance due to the limits of car headlights and lighting. Specially, the aged was mostly occupied in nighttime-related accidents on crosswalks, and pedestrians crossing on the far side of approaching vehicles appear to have the probability of fatality higher than the near side. An alternative is needed to resolve the compounded accidents, and then this study is to establish a new approach to an optimum lighting environment on a crosswalk to improve pedestrian safety. This study was conducted by a survey and a field study on the lighting of existing crosswalks. The field study shows that the existing lighting has the problem of wasting energy and impeding walking due to glare. The survey shows that nighttime sight distance on a crosswalk is required to improve and that road users prefer to be brighter pedestrian waiting space together with the crosswalk. Thus, a lighting environment that is not too bright and illuminates the crosswalk and the pedestrian waiting space is needed to implement.

The purpose of this study is to analyze both residential conditions and the resident impressions of the transition zone of central Daegu. The results drawn from a questionnaire survey of the residents are summarized as follows: 1) The proportion of people over the age of 60 living on a low income is high and consists mostly of retired citizens who have lived in the transition zone, in their own homes, for an extended length of time 2) The condition of infrastructure in the transition zone is very poor, however, despite the housing deterioration, the internal repair and maintenance of houses is more satisfactory than their external appearance. 3) Residential satisfaction received high ratings in every category except pollution and housing price. This response appears to stem from the easy commute of residents as well as the ready availability of facilities in the city center. 4) In terms of residential satisfaction, the residents can be divided into two groups. The first, with a high satisfaction rate, consists mainly of senior citizens who possess both personal homes and a stable living, having resided in the city center for most of their lives. The second, with a lower satisfaction rate, is composed mostly of younger residents who have lived temporarily in inexpensive rental homes. As a results, the residential area in the transition zone of central Daegu does not appear to be a problematic area like the slum of the West, but instead a stable settlement for its residents.
