  • With group mobility, minimizing routing overhead among intra-group nodes can be achieved by making longer the routing update period, which may lead to degradation of inter-group's routing performance and consequently the inter-group packet delivery success ratio will be decreased. To reduce the inter-group routing overhead without lowering the inter-group packet delivery success ratio, a mobility-adaptive routing update(MARU) scheme is proposed in this paper. Main idea of the proposed scheme is group-based mobility prediction and updating routing paths by selecting intermediate common relay groups.

  • In this paper, we propose a technique which makes it faster to delete prefixes in an IP address lookup architecture based on parallel TCAMs. In previous deletion schemes, more than one memory movement is needed for the prefix ordering and keeping the available memory space consecutive. For deletion, our scheme stores the address of the deleted prefix in a stack implemented by SRAM instead of actual movement in TCAM. Since SRAM has very short latency compared to TCAM, the proposed scheme can accomplish fast updating. From the experiment with the real forwarding table and update trace, we evaluate the performance of our scheme in terms of the memory access time for the prefix insertion and deletion. The experiment result also shows good performance with considerably small size of stack.

  • As web-based services are becoming more and more popular, concurrent updates of spatial data should be possible in the web-based environments in order to use the various services. Web-based GIS applications are characterized by large quantity of data providing and these data should be continuously updated according to various user's requirements. Faced with such an enormous data providing system, it is inefficient for a server to do all of the works of updating spatial data requested by clients. Besides, the HTTP protocol used in the web environment is established under the assumption of 'Connectionless'and 'Stateless'. Lots of problems may occur if the scheme of transaction processing based on the LAN environment is directly applied to the web environment. Especially for long transactions of updating spatial data, it is very difficult to control the concurrency among clients and to keep the consistency of the server data. This paper proposes a solution of keeping consistency during updating directly spatial data in the client-side by resolving the Dormancy Region Lock problem caused by the 'Connectionless'and 'Stateless'feature of the HTTP protocol. The RX(Region-eXclusive) lock and the periodically sending of ALIVE_CLIENTi messages can solve this problem. The protocol designed here is verified as effective enough through implementing in the main memory spatial database system, called CyberMap.

  • Least-mean-square(LMS) adaptive filters have proven to be extremely useful in a number of signal processing tasks. However LMS adaptive filter suffer from a slow rate of convergence for a given steady-state mean square error as compared to the behavior of recursive least squares adaptive filter. In this paper an efficient signal interference control technique is introduced to improve the convergence speed of LMS algorithm with tap weighted vectors updating which were controled by reusing data which was abandoned data in the Adaptive transversal filter in the scheme with data recycling buffers. The computer simulation show that the character of convergence and the value of MSE of proposed algorithm are faster and lower than the existing LMS according to increasing the step-size parameter $\mu$ in the experimentally computed. learning curve. Also we find that convergence speed of proposed algorithm is increased by (B+1) time proportional to B which B is the number of recycled data buffer without complexity of computation. Adaptive transversal filter with proposed data recycling buffer algorithm could efficiently reject ISI of channel and increase speed of convergence in avoidance burden of computational complexity in reality when it was experimented having the same condition of LMS algorithm.

  • Energy detection based spectrum sensing compares the energy of a received signal from a primary user with a detection threshold and decides whether it is active or not in the frequency band of interest. Here the detection threshold depends on not only a target false alarm probability but also the level of the noise energy in the band. So, if the noise energy changes, the detection threshold must be adjusted accordingly to maintain the given false alarm probability. Most previous works on energy detection for spectrum sensing are based on the assumption that noise energy is known a priori. In this paper, we present a new energy detection scheme updating its detection threshold under the assumption that the noise is white, and analyze its detection performance. Analytic results show that the proposed scheme can maintain a target false alarm rate without regard to the noise energy level and its spectrum sensing performance gets better as the time bandwidth product of the signal used to estimate the noise energy increases.

  • With the development in IT technology and with growing demands of users, a ubiquitous environment is being made. Because of individuals identification is important in ubiquitous environment, RFID, a technology used frequently. RFID, a technology that radio frequency identification, reader send signer, then tag provide user information. RFID has various strengths, such as high recognition rates, quick recognition speed, but Eavesdropping is possible and problem that user information is revealed happens. To solve this, study is proceeded with activity, but, because of low-cost passive tag is limited operation capability, usually used hash function and random number. Also updates value that is used to present session and uses in next session. Therefore, this scheme protects user privacy using random number. And this sheme can offer synchronization by creating variable value without updating value.

  • This paper proposes a tag indexing scheme for RFID tag using spatial index. The tag being used for the inventory management and the tag's location is determined by the position of readers. Therefore, the reader recognizes the tag, which is attached products and thereby their positions can be traced down. In this paper, we propose hTag-tree( Hybrid Tag index) which manages RFID tag attached products. hTag-tree is a new index, which is based on tag's attributes with fast searching, and this tag index manages RFID tags using reader's location. This tag index accesses rapidly to tags for insertion, deletion and updating in dynamic environment. This can minimize the number of node accesses in tag searching comparing to previous techniques. Also, by the extension of MER in present tag index, it is helpful to stop the lowering of capacity which can be caused by parent node approach. The proposed index experiment deals with the comparison of tag index. Fixed Interval R-tree, and present spatial index, R-tree comparison. As a result, the amount of searching time is significantly shortened through hTag-tree node access in data search. This shows that the use of proposed index improves the capacity of effective management of a large amount of RFID tag.

  • One of the most important issue in location-aware computing is tracking moving objects efficiently. To this end, an efficient protocol which updates location information in a location server is highly needed. In fact, the performance of a location update strategy highly depends on the assumed mobility pattern. In most existing works, however, the mobility issue has been disregarded and too simplified as linear function of time. In this paper, we propose a new mobility model, called state-based mobility model (SMM) to provide more generalized framework for both describing the mobility and updating location information of complexly moving objects. We also introduce the state-based location update protocol (SLUP) based on this mobility model. Using experimental comparison, we illustrate that the proposed technique is many times better in reducing location update cost and the communication bandwidth consumption.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) detection scheme that has an adaptive equalizer and can be applied in the asymmetric optical recording system with high-density. We confirmed that the proposed PRML detector improves detection performance. In addition, we implemented the detector by Verilog HDL. The adaptive equalizer is composed of tap coefficient updating unit using LMS algorithn and FIR filter. FIR filter is implemented by the transposed direct form architecture for high speed operation. Viterbi detector is implemented by the register exchange method.

  • A recursive parameter estimation scheme utilizing the variance perturbation method is applied to the workpiece deflection model during CNC turning process, in order to improve the cylindricity of slender workpiece. It features that it is based on exponentially weighted recursive least squares method with post-process measurement of finish surfaces at two locations and it does not require a priori knowledge on the time varying deflection model parameter. The measurements of finish surfaces by using two proximity sensors mounted face to face enable one to identify the straightness, guide-way, run-out eccentricity errors. Preliminary cutting tests show that the straightness error of the finish surface due to workpiece deflection during cutting is most dominant. Identifying the errors and recursive updating the parameter, the off-line control is carried out to compensate the workpiece deflection error, through single pass cutting. Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the conventional multi-pass cutting and the direct compensation control in cutting accuracy and efficiency.
