  • Impinging angle, impinging distance, length eve. diameter and injection pressure of a triplet injector were tested to evaluate the spray characteristics injected by liquid/gas combinations. Two different kinds of unlike triplet sprays were produced by changing the gas and liquid feed lines. One was the G-L-G(Gas-Liquid-Gas) type, and the other was L-G-L(Liquid-Gas-Liquid) type. Spray angles were wider with the G-L-G type than with L-G-L type. Mass distributions in spray were obtained with a, mechanical patternator. Mass distributions were not circular but elliptical distributions. When the range of mechanical patternator to injector decreased, mass distributions were more concentrated in the center region.

  • The mixing of fuel and oxidizer and each mass distribution of unlike split triplet(F-O-O-F) injector for liquid rocket which are known to affect the combustion efficiency significantly, has been investigated using PLLIF technique. Experiment is conducted to investigate the effect of mixture ratio(MiR), momentum ratio(MoR) and impinging angle on mixing efficiency. The mixing efficiency, which is introduced by Rupe, gives the global chracteristic of spray mixing. Experiment far comparison with triplet injector(F-O-F), which has same momentum ratio and impinging angle with split triplet injector is conducted.

  • The mixing of propellant and its mass distribution of unlike-doublet impinging injector, which is known to affect the combustion efficiency significantly, have been studied using PLIF(Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence). The results show that fuel jet penetrates considerably into the oxidizer jet at impinging point as variation of momentum ratio. and then stream flows inclined because of variation of momentum ratio. Consequently, the mixing efficiency shows that maximum efficiency is at MR=3. after MR=3, mining efficiency decreases slightly.

  • 실물형 Unlike 충돌형 triplet 분사기인 F-O-F형과 O-F-O형의 분무특성 및 혼합특성을 실험적으로 알아보았다. 각각의 분사기에 대해 산화제와 연료의 운동량비의 변화에 따라 분무형상과 케로신/물을 이용한 혼합효율을 측정하였다. 분무형상은 Stroboscope와 CCD camera를 이용한 직접사진기법으로, 혼합효율은 Mechanical Patternator를 이용하였다. O-F-O형 분사기가 미립화 특성이 우수함을 알 수 있었고, 운동량비가 증가함에 따라 혼합효율이 급격히 감소함을 알 수 있었다.

  • Spray characteristics of a unlike triplet injector were investigated experimentally. Spray images and SMD of droplet were measured to evaluate the spray characteristics injected by liquid/gas combinations. G-L-G(Gas-Liquid-Gas), L-G-L(Liquid-Gas-Liquid) type of injector were used by changing the gas and liquid feed lines. The SMD graph shows that the droplet sizes decrease in the out of radial direction at a fixed gas Reynolds number. The SMD value of decreasing tendency shows that the more ethyl alcohol ratio increase, the more SMD value decrease.

  • $H_2$O/Kerosene을 사용하여 Unlike 충돌형 인젝터(FOOF형)에서 산화제와 연료의 운동량비 변화에 따른 혼합효율을 측정하였다. 모의 추진제의 운동량비 1.5(총혼합비 1.89)에서 혼합성능은 최대 값을 나타내었으며 모의 추진제의 실험결과는 실제 추진제인 LOX/Kerosene에 적용하여 혼합특성속도 효율을 예측하였다 연구 결과 혼합특성속도 효율은 운동량비 2.0에서 최대 값을 나타내었다. 이러한 예측은 실제 연소실험을 통하여 얻어진 연소효율과 약간의 차이는 있으나 초기설계자료로서 충분한 가치가 있는 것으로 판단된다.

  • A model for depicting the rocket engine combustion process is presented and several experiments near a design point are provided with a FOOF type of unlike impinging injector for a propellant combination of Jet A-1 fuel and liquid-oxygen. The model is based on the assumption that the vaporization is the rate-controlling combustion process. The effects of initial drop size and initial drop velocity are systematically shown and discussed. It is seen that in the midst of considered parameters the change of initial drop size is more sensitive to the performance. The proposed model describes qualitative trends of combustion process well despite of its simplicity.

  • Unlike impinging Quadlet injector(OOOF type)에 대한 혼합효율, 혼합특성속도, 혼합특성속도효율을 연소성능을 예측하기 위해 비연소 실험을 통하여 구하였다. 모의 추진제는 물($H_2$O)와 케로신($CH_{1.97}$)을 사용하였고, 혼합상관인자로써 산화제, 연료 분류의 운동량비를 사용하였다. 인젝터 분무특성을 파악하기 위해 오리피스(orifice) 각 hole에 대한 유량계수, 분무형상, 질량분포 획득이 수행되어졌다. 연구 결과, 침투깊이는 혼합효율, 혼합특성속도, 혼합특성속도 효율에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 혼합효율 및 혼합특성속도 효율은 MR=1.67(TMR=2.5)에서 87%로 최대값을 가지며 산화제 과잉상태보다 연료 과잉상태에서 더 큰 감소율을 보였다.

  • 액체로켓에서 설계된 추진제를 엔진내로 분사하고, 미립화 및 혼합시키는 분사기고서, 널리 사용되어온 이유체 충돌분사기의 혼합특성은 연소안정성 및 연소효율에 주요한 영향을 미치는 인자이다. 따라서 본 연구는 이유체 충돌 분사기의 설계변수인 충돌각, 오리피스 직경비 및 운동량비가 질량분포 및 혼합성능에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여, 추진제대용으로 물과 TCE를 사용하는 비연소시험법에 의해서 수행되었다.

  • Experimental studies on determination of the supply leading time of propellants to combustion chamber have been made to stably and efficiently guarantee the ignition process with liquid rocket engine. The propellant used is a Jet A-1 as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. Unlike impinging FOOF type of injectors are arranged radially and the designed O/F ratio is 2.34. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triethylalumimum as an ignition source and injector life tests. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time of propellants affects the engine performance little. The effect of positioning cooling holes is remarkable to protect the injector face.
