Purpose: This study aimed to examine nurses' healthy behaviors during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and related factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was adapted, and data were collected from 300 hospital nurses between August and November 2021. The nurses' characteristics, healthy behaviors, COVID-19 stress levels, health self-efficacy, and nursing professional pride were self-reported using structured questionnaires. Multivariable linear regressions were conducted to identify factors related to nurses' healthy behaviors. Results: Healthy lifestyle was the lowest among the subscales of healthy behaviors. Nurses' healthy behaviors were related to age (B=0.15, p=.021), COVID-19 stress level (B=-0.08, p=.007), nursing professional pride (B=0.19, p<.001), and health self-efficacy (B=0.38, p<.001). Conclusion: To enhance nurses' healthy lifestyles during the pandemic, organizational support is needed, such as ensuring facilities for rest or physical activities accessible from the hospital and supplying healthy food in hospitals. Younger nurses, nurses with high levels of COVID-19 stress, and nurses with lower health self-efficacy may benefit from hospital organizations that provide more support and guidance in promoting health behaviors. Furthermore, hospital organizations should promote professional pride by empowering nurses' efforts and reinforcing their values.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify relationships between compassion fatigue, burnout, and turnover intention in Korean hospital nurses. Methods: In total, 142 hospital nurses were surveyed as part of data collection. Data related to compassion fatigue, burnout, and turnover intention were collected using a questionnaire between May 2011 and September 2011. The data analysis was performed using PASW 19.0 program, which included one-way ANOVA, independent t-tests, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: This study detected a positive correlation between compassion fatigue and burnout(r=.37, p<.001), and turnover intention(r=.55, p<.001). Compassion fatigue accounted for 29.6% of the variance for turnover intention among Korean hospital nurses. Conclusion: The results indicate that it is necessary to reduce compassion fatigue, and turnover intention among Korean hospital nurses.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine nurses' knowledge levels and educational needs related to an artificial pacemaker. Methods: Participants were 100 nurses working in cardiovascular departments from two university hospitals in Seoul. This study was a descriptive study using a survey for estimating knowledge levels and educational needs related to an artificial pacemaker among nurses. Data were analyzed by SPSS 23.0 program using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA. Results: Nurses' knowledge levels were significantly different depending on working units (F=3.32, p=.014) and years of clinical experience (F=2.85, p=.042). Nurses who received education about an artificial pacemaker were higher in the knowledge level of complications after an implantation procedure (t=3.45, p<.001) than nurses who did not receive the education. Conclusion: Discharge education is critical for patients with artificial pacemaker implantation to go back to their daily activities. When developing artificial pacemaker education program for hospital nurses, factors such as nurses' working department and years of clinical experience years and updated information of an artifical pacemaker need to be considered.

Purpose: This study was performed to measure hospital nurses' perceived patient safety culture and their safety care activities, and to investigate the relationship between these two factors. Method: This study was a cross-sectional survey. The participants were 301 nurses working at 4 general hospitals, and data collection was done from June 22 to June 30, 2009 by self-administrated questionnaires. Results: With a possible score of 5 points, the average score for nurses' perceived patient safety culture was 3.34, and for their safety care activities, 4.25. There were perceived differences in patient safety culture and safety care activities according to age, position, length of work experience and number of patient safety education sessions attended. All sub-factors in patient safety culture had a positive relationship with safety care activities. Factors influencing nurses' safety care activities were number of patient safety education sessions attended, hospital environment, and supervisor/manager. These factors explained 58.2% of the variance. Conclusion: The findings indicate that patient safety education is very important to improve nurses' safety care activity. So nursing supervisors/ managers should develop strategies encourage patient safety education, and make nurses' working environment safer.
Purpose: Given the importance and impact of trust between nurse and pediatric patient on treatment adherence and nursing outcomes, this study was aimed to investigate how nurses perceive the trust between nurses themselves and children in a hospital setting using a qualitative research methodology. Methods: In depth interviews with 10 nurses working at pediatric units were conducted using semi-structured questionnaires, and data were analyzed using a thematic analysis. Results: Main themes were categorized as attributes of nurse-child trust and influencing factors. Attributes of trust can be divided into definition and characteristics of nurse-child trust. Nurses perceived nurse-child trust were not coercive, and changeable mutual relationship needing time and effort, and helpful for child's hospital adaptation and child's participation for care. There existed facilitating factors and interfering factors in developing nurse-child trust. Conclusion: The findings of this study would help nurses who are caring children in a hospital setting re-shape their points of views on 'trust between nurses and children' in day to day practice. It is also hoped that these results contribute to develop nursing guidelines on trust building with children in hospital in future.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of compassion competence and organizational commitment on customer orientation in hospital nurses. Methods: The participant of this study was 223 nurses who have worked at a tertiary hospital in Chungcheong Province for at least one year. The general characteristics, compassion competence, organizational commitment, and customer orientation of the participants were collected, using self-reported questionnaires, from June 15 to June 29, 2018. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA ($Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using an SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. Results: Customer orientation was significantly associated with organizational commitment (r=.51, p<.001), and compassion competence (r=.74, p<.001). Compassion competence (${\beta}=.62$, p<.001), organizational commitment (${\beta}=.17$, p=.004), and marital status (${\beta}=.11$, p=.034) were identified as the predictors of customer orientation. These variables explained 59.1% of the variance in customer orientation. Conclusion: This study confirmed that compassion competence and organizational commitment may have an impact on customer orientation in hospital Nurses. Therefore, to improve customer orientation in hospital nurses, it is necessary to develop interventions and education programs considering these factors.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide data to establish an efficient manpower management plan so that the organization can identify the influence of organizational silence and professionalism on job embeddedness among nurses in hospital management. Methods: Self-report questionnaires were distributed to 150 nurses in hospital management who were working in general hospitals with less than 900 beds but more than 300 beds in the districts of Seoul and Gyunggi, Gangwon province. Of the questionnaires, 127 out of 150 copies were collected and 120 copies were used for final analysis. Seven were not considered sincere in the responses. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 22.0 statistic program, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Results: Organizational silence and professionalism had significant influence on job embeddedness, which explained 43.4% of job embeddedness. Conclusion: The results indicate that in order to raise job embeddedness, it is necessary to provide various programs to change communication patterns in the nurses in hospital management, and to create environments in which nurses in hospital management can present various opinions.
This study is designed to develop a hospital communication program and to verify its effectiveness in graduate nurses self-esteem, communication conflicts, turnover intention and early resignation rate. The study method is a randomized control group with a pre-post test design. In order to help new graduate nurses adapt to the hospital, eight week hospital communication program is developed. The study participants are 104 nurses(47 experiment, 57 control) who have been working for less than six months. The data on self-esteem, communication conflict, and turnover intention was collected one week before the program and four weeks after the program. Then, the early resignation rate of the participating nurses was surveyed one year after the start of employment. The nurses who participated in the hospital communication program exhibit higher self-esteem, fewer communication conflicts, and lower early resignation rates than those who did not. However, effect in the turnover intention is not observed. Overall, the hospital communication program will help new graduate nurses adapt to hospitals.

The mean score of geriatric hospital nurses' nursing education needs was 4.00. The correlation between geriatric hospital nurses' knowledge and attitudes toward the aged showed a significant positive value(r=.396, p<.01). According to the above results, the nurses' knowledge toward the aged was high, the attitude was neutral, and the nursing education needs was high. Conclusion: There is a need to develop continuing education programs to increase knowledge and positive attitudes and to apply these programs routinely to maintain and reinforce the nurses' knowledge and attitudes.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of nurses' resilience and anger expression styles on their nursing work performance in emergency departments. Methods: The study included 107 nurses from 5 hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do who consented to participate. Data ware collected from March to April 2016. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors influencing nurses' performance. Results: Nurses' performance was higher when resilience was high and anger expression was low. The result of the multiple regression indicated that present working years in the emergency room, work satisfaction, anger expression, anger control, and resilience predicted 39.4% (F=7.27, p<.001) of the nursing performance of hospital nurses in emergency departments. The most powerful predictor was resilience (${\beta}=.45$, p<.001), followed by anger-out (${\beta}=-.25$, p=.006). Conclusion: This study showed that the most influential variables of work performance in emergency nurses ware resilience and anger expression. To enhance the nursing performance of hospital nurses in emergency departments, it is necessary to develop and implement mentorship programs that enhance resilience and educational programs that help them manage their anger.
