다문화가정 초등학생의 자아존중감과 건강행위 간의 관련성 (Association between Self-esteem and Health Behavior of the Children with Multi-cultural Family Background)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the characteristics of health behavior and self-esteem and the relationship between the two factors among elementary school students with multi-cultural family background. Participants: Survey participants were 87 multi-cultural family children who lived in Seoul and Kyoungi areas and were registered in the local elementary schools. Methods: Data collection was conducted by face-to-face interview survey. Elementary education majored undergraduate students who participated in the education support program for multi-cultural family children in the Ministry of Education and Science and primary researcher of this study interviewed the target students and finished the survey questionnaire based on the students' responses. Survey included general characteristics, multi-cultural family characteristics, self-esteem, and (physical, mental, and social) health behavior. Results: 1. The self-esteem scores of the multi-cultural families children were greater in girl than boys among the children whose parents were graduated from college or more, and whose father had his job. The participants' health behavior scores were different by mothers' educational level. 2. The better they speak in English the greater the self-esteem scores. There was no statistical difference in health behavior scores by the participants' multi-cultural family background. 3. Self-esteem had moderate level correlation with health behavior (r= .56, p= .00) including all sub-categories of physical, mental, and social health. Conclusions: Positive self-esteem level is more sensitive to explain multi-cultural family children's health behaviors, which means that self-esteem is an important factor determining multi-cultural children's health behaviors and their health status in future. Therefore, more research to identify the factors related to health behaviors should be supported and the health promotion programs utilizing self-esteem should be developed for the child and youth with multi-cultural family backgrounds.

식물형태학에서 사용하는 종자식물의 생식구조에 관한 한글 용어의 분석 (Analysis of Some Korean Terminologies on the Reproductive Structures of Seed Plants in Plant Morphology)

  • Some Korean terminologies on reproductive structures of seed plants in plant morphology, written incorrectly in many books, were analysed to propose accurately expressed terminologies. 31 books in areas such as general biology, plant biology, plant morphology, and biological dictionaries and glossaries were selected to analyse the accuracy of the terminologies for reproductive structures in gymnosperms, e.g., cone or strobilus, seed (or ovulate) cone and pollen cone, and conifer(s) or coniferous plants, and for flower structures in angiosperms, e.g., corolla, anther, filament, pistillate (or female) flower and staminate (or male) flower, apocarpous, and syncarpous. The definition and etymology of the terminologies were traced in 4 textbooks of plant anatomy and 2 dictionaries of biology and botany written in English. On the basis of the definition, etymology, and principles for terminology formation according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 704:2000), reasonably expressed Korean terminologies were proposed. All of the 8 terminologies examined in this study were included in the glossary of biological terminologies, published by the Korean Association of Biological Sciences in 2005, and designated as an editorial source for science and biology textbooks for middle and high schools by Ministry of Education in 2007. However, the only 1 of the 8 terminologies described in the glossary were consistent with the proposed expression in the present study. These inconsistencies indicated the need for a reassessment of this glossary of biological terminologies. The newly proposed terminologies would facilitate mutual understanding between teachers and students of plant biology.

On the basis of the definition, etymology, and principles for terminology formation according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 704:2000), reasonably expressed Korean terminologies were proposed. The validity of the proposed Korean terminologies was tested in a questionnaire sent to 17 professors teaching plant morphology or/and taxonomy at universities. The new, proposed terminologies would facilitate mutual understanding between teachers and students of plant biology.

간호사 대상 한국어판 인간중심돌봄 측정도구의 타당도와 신뢰도 (Validity and Reliability of the Korean Version of Person-Centered Practice Inventory-Staff for Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of Person-Centered Practice Inventory-Staff (PCPI-S) for nurses. Methods: The English PCPI-S was translated into Korean with forward and backward translation. Data were collected from 338 nurses at one general hospital in Korea. Construct validity was evaluated with confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. Known-group validity was also evaluated. Cronbach's α was used to assess the reliability. Results: The PCPI-S Korean version consisted of 51 items in three areas: prerequisites, the care environment, and person-centered process. The comparative fit index (CFI) and values of person-centered care process were improved after engagement and having sympathetic presence items were combined as one component. The construct validity of PCPI-S Korean version was verified using four-factor structures (.05 < RMSEA < .10, AGFI > .70, CFI > .70, and AIC). The convergent validity and discriminant validity of the entire PCPI-S question were verified using a two-factor structures (AVE > .50, construct reliability > .70). There was an acceptable known-group validity with a significant correlation between the PCPI-S level and the degree of person-centered care awareness and education. Internal consistency was reliable with Cronbach's α .95. Conclusion: The Korean version of PCPI-S is valid and reliable. It can be used as a standardized Korean version of person-centered care measurement tool. 한국어 및 영어 이미지 캡션이 가능한 범용적 모델 및 목적에 맞는 텍스트를 생성해주는 기법 (A general-purpose model capable of image captioning in Korean and Englishand a method to generate text suitable for the purpose)

  • Image Captioning은 이미지를 보고 이미지를 언어로 설명하는 문제이다. 해당 문제는 이미지 처리와 자연어 처리 두 가지의 분야를 하나로 묵고 이해하고 하나로 묶어 해결할 수 있는 중요한 문제이다. 또한, 이미지를 자동으로 인식하고 텍스트로 설명함으로써 시각 장애인을 위해 이미지를 텍스트로 변환 후 음성으로 변환하여 주변 환경을 이해하는 데 도움을 줄 수 있으며, 이미지 검색, 미술치료, 스포츠 경기 해설, 실시간 교통 정보 해설 등 많은 곳에 적용할 수 있는 중요한 문제이다. 지금까지의 이미지 캡션 구 방식은 이미지를 인식하고 텍스트화시키는 데에만 집중하고 있다. 하지만 실질적인 사용을 하기 위해 현실의 다양한 환경이 고려되어야 하며 뿐만 아니라 사용하고자 하는 목적에 맞는 이미지 설명을 할 수 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 범용적으로 사용 가능한 한국어 및 영어 이미지 캡션 모델과 이미지 캡션 목적에 맞는 텍스트 생성 기법을 제한한다.

CUDA 연산을 이용한 개선된 영상 매칭 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improved Image Matching Method using the CUDA Computing)

  • 최근 데이터의 질이 높아짐에 따라 영상을 처리하는데 많은 시간이 소모되는 문제가 제기되어 영상 처리 알고리즘의 가속화가 필요하게 됨으로써, 기존의 CPU와 CUDA(Compute Unified Device Architecture) 기반의 인식 시스템에서 연산속도와 성능이득 비교를 위해 OpenMP를 가지고 측정할 수 있는 문자 인식시스템으로 학습된 문자데이터가 입력되면 매칭이 가장 잘 되는 영상의 영역을 인식하는 환경으로 구현하여 각 영문 알파벳의 글씨체가 일정하고 크기가 규격화 되어 있으므로 문자를 학습하고 문자 정합도를 계산하기 위한 영상 매칭 방법을 구현하게 되었다. GPGPU(General Purpose GPU)프로그래밍 플랫폼 기술인 CUDA연산 기법을 이용하여 알고리즘을 빠르고 효율적으로 처리하는 OpenMP에서 인텔 i5 2500의 네 개의 코어를 사용하여 인식 할 때, 기존 CPU의 성능보다 4배의 속도가 나오지 않고 데이터의 분할과 병합 연산의 지연으로 인해 약 3.2배의 속도로 향상되는 가속화 방법을 제안하고 그래픽카드에서 처리하는 병렬처리 결과, 순차적 연산을 수행하였던 CPU 기반의 처리에 비해 성능이득이 약 21X(배)로 향상됨을 확인하였다.

최근 10년간 대한치과보존학회지에 게재된 논문의 경향 분석 (ANALYSIS OF PAPERS PUBLISHED IN THE JOURNAL OF KOREAN ACADEMY OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY DURING THE LAST TEN YEARS)

  • To understand the recent characteristics of the papers published in the Journal of Korean Academy of Conservative Dentistry(JKACD), All the papers in the JKACD of 1992 to 2001 were analyzed. A total of 513 papers were classified according to its type, fold and subject of the study, school and the number of authors, references, and written language. The results were as follows ; 1 According to the type of the paper, 506(98.6%) were original articles, 3(0.6%) were review articles, and 4(0.8%) were case reports. 2. Anual proportion of papers in the fold of operative dentistry was similar to that of endodontics 3. In the field of operative dentistry, esthetic restorative materials and bonding to tooth constituted major subjects of the studies. In the field of endodotics, pulp biology was prominent and canal shaping, endodontic microbiology and canal obturation were steadily reported. 4. According to author's school, similar number of papers were published in the field of operative den tistry and endodontics in general. However, some schools showed preponderances. 5. Most studies were done by two or more authors. Studies published by two authors were most 6. Fifty(9.7%) papers were done in collaboration with workers of the other field. 7. Average number of references cited in the papers was 41.2, including domestic references of 1.8. 40.7% of the papers was shown to cite no domestic papers at all. 8. Twenty-eight(5.5%) papers were written in English, with increasing ratio.

'ANY'와 '아무'에 관한 분석 (An Analysis of 'Any' and 'Amwu')

  • 영어 'any'는 일차술어논리에서 'every', 'all', 'each' 등과 유사하게 다루어지지만, 자연언어에서 이들은 서로 다른 의미를 갖는다. 특히 'any'는 부정어와 함께 사용되는데, 언어학자들은 이 현상에 주목하고 이를 설명하고자 하였다. 필자는 기존의 언어학적 설명이 만족스럽지 못한 점을 지적하고 벤들러가 'any'의 논리적 특성에 관해서 오래 전에 제시한 철학적 통찰에 주목한다. 필자의 분석에 따르면 'any'는 벤들러가 '선택의 자유'라고 부르는 특성을 일차적으로 가지며 파인이 '임의의 대상'이라고 부르는 것을 가리킨다. 이 과정에서 필자는 'any'의 논리적 특성이 한국어 '아무'의 분석을 통해서 더 잘 드러난다는 점을 보인다. 필자는 이러한 분석이 중요한 철학적 함축을 갖는다고 생각하며, 그 한 가지 사례로 보편 일반화 규칙과 서문의 역설이 제기하는 문제가 'any'의 논리적 특성에 대한 분석을 통해서 새롭게 조망될 수 있음을 보인다.

북한의 간호교육 -반세기동안의 변화와 전망- (Nursing Education in North Korea: Past 50 Years and Future)

  • Purpose: To understand the development of nursing education of North Korea after 1945. Method: First, collecting primary sources published in NK. Second, collecting secondary sources published in South Korea. Third, interview with South Korean medical personnels who visited NK. Forth, interview with medical personnels who escaped NK. Result: After 1945 NK increased health care facilities in short time and had the policy of training medical personnel in short time. Nursing education was focused on the basic practice. NK could begin free medical treatment for the laborer in 1947. Post Korean War restoration and free medical treatment system of national level in 1950s and 1960s served to the health promotion of NK population. The medical personnel training policy continued and the number of R.N. in NK had increased 13 times in 15 years. NK has tried to increase the quality of health care service and medical personnel since 1970s. Nursing education in medical colleges is three-year course but 6 month training courses in general hospitals continue. They focus on primary prevention and oriental medicine in nursing curriculum reflecting the characteristics of NK medial care. But English and high technology is very poor, and there is no computer related curriculum. Conclusion: nursing education in NK has developed reflecting the changes of NK society and health care since 1945. After 1980s NK is in deep economic depression and it is hard to recover from the state with their hands. In this state, we cannot expect the development of nursing education in NK.

Effectiveness of Worksite Intervention on Stress Management: An Analytic Literature Review

  • With growing significance of psychological well-being in the worksite, the purpose of this analysis was to overview the empirical studies on worksite stress management and to identity the overall effect of worksite health promotion programs on stress management through meta-analysis. Literature retrieval was conducted on-line first in MEDLINE, EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier, and PSYCHINFO databases in public health, psychology, sociology, and human resource management areas. All studies written in English and published in the peer-reviewed journals during 1990 and 2002 were recruited. Key words used in literature retrieval were 'worksite,' 'intervention,' 'program,' 'work stress,' 'strain,' 'burnout,' 'management,' 'prevention,' 'education,' and 'health promotion.' A total of 18 worksite intervention studies with 48 effect sizes were analyzed and the results were as follows. Approximately 60% of the studies had quasi-experimental design and were conducted in manufacturing company and public sector. General psychological strains and burnout were frequently used measures of psychological stress. The lecturing and discussion typed intervention and the participatory problem-solving typed intervention were employed more than others in the studies. The average effect (r: pearson's simple correlation coefficient) weighted by sampling error was -0.14 (-0.32 to 0.05). In the conventional category of effects this is a small effect ranging from -0.59 to 0.05. Binomial effect size showed that success rates increased from 43% without intervention to 57% after an intervention. Sampling error explained 47.14% of the observed variance and its effectiveness on stress management were heterogeneous. In regression analysis with suspected moderating factors affecting the worksite interventions, research design was the only significant moderating factor. The studies with quasi-experimental design had greater effects than the studies with experimental design.
