  • Ten [$Pd^{II}$(dicarboxylato)(1, 2-diaminocyclohexane)] complexes were prepared after the antitumor-active Pt(II)1, 2-diaminocyclohexane complexes as the cisplatin analogues of palladium series. They were characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectroscopy. As a result, the dicarboxylate ligands were conformed to be chelated with Pd(II) within the scope studied. The stability differences beween the dicarboxylato complexes according to the chelate ring size could not be differentiated due to generally lower thermodynamic stability of the dicarboxylato Pd(II) complexes.

  • This is a brief clinical report describing an 18-month-old female with Robin sequence found to have an incidental mandibular cystic lesion on a head computed tomography scan in the preoperative workup before performing mandibular distraction. She underwent enucleation of the tumor, which was found to be a dentigerous cyst. One year following cyst enucleation, mandibular distraction was performed in order to alleviate her tongue-based obstruction. This case demonstrates the ability of the mandibular bone to successfully regenerate after undergoing cyst enucleation.

  • Perforator flaps become a reliable option for coverage of various defects and the interest is change from survival of perforator flaps to make thin flaps for better aesthetic and functional outcomes. Multiple flap thinning methods have been demonstrated but it has not been widely attempted because of concerns about compromising circulation of flap thinning. This article will demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of flap thinning technique: defatting after conventional flap elevation.

  • Four iridoid compounds were isolated from methanol extract of Boschniakia rossica by repeated column chromatography. Their structures were determined as boschnaloside (1), boschnarol (2), bosnarol methylether (3), and 7-deoxy 8-epiloganic acid (4), respectively. Compound 2, 3, and 4 were isolated for the first time form this plant.

  • A mechanism of taurine transfer across the rat small intestine was elucidated by using the in situ recirculation perfusion or loop method. Taurine uptake was saturable, Km= 39.9 mM, and energy dependent, and required sodium. The close structural analogues, aminomethane sulfonic acid, .gamma.-amino-butyric acid, hypotaurine, and .betha.-alanine, reduced significantly taurine uptake when present in 10-fold excess. The .alpha.-amino acid, glycine, did not inhibit uptake. Hence, all of these findings lead to a conclusion that a carrier-mediated transport system for taurine exists in the small intestine.

  • A rapid, high yield of N-norapomorphine from apomorphine was accomplished by allowing it to react with phenyl chloroformate without isolating and purifying the intermediate carbamate, and have found that the crude carbamate can be easily cleaved in situ with a 1:1 mixture of 64% and 95% hydrazine to afford analytically pure N-norapomorphine in 81% overall yields. Previously, various other methods gave an untoward ring opening reactions and scission of the hydropyridine ring in the apomorphine series.

  • A series of 3'- and 4'-branched carbocyclic nucleosides 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 were synthesized starting from simple acyclic ketone derivatives. The construction of the required quaternary carbon was made using a [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement. In addition, the installation of a methyl group in the 3'-position was accomplished using a Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons (HWE) reaction with triethyl 2-phosphonopropionate. Bis-vinyl was successfully cyclized using a Grubbs' catalyst (Ⅱ). Natural bases (adenine, cytosine, uracil) were efficiently coupled with the use of a Pd(0) catalyst.
