In addition to the previous reported furoquinoline alkaloids, skimmianine, kokusaginine and confusameline, a rate furoquinoline alkaloid, heliparifoline, mp 241-$3^{\circ}$ was isolated from the leaves of Melcope contusa and characterized by spectral data.

The alkylation of resorcinol with cyclic allylic alcohol in non-aqueous acid medium gives intermolecular Friedel-Craft compounds. The products are primary alkylation products. The likage always occurs between carbon 3 of cyclic allylic alcohol and the position 2, 4, 5 or 6 of the resorcinol.

3, 4, 5, 6, -Tetrahydro-7-hydroxy-2-methyl-9-alkyl-2, 6-methano-2H-1-benzoxocins are readily prepared by baron trifluoride etherate-catalyzed cyclization of resorcinols with cyclic allylic alcohol.

4'-Bromoacetophenone analogs, which are able to generate monophenyl radicals capable of hydrogen atom abstraction, were investigated as possible photoinducible DNA cleaving agents. The potential of 4'-Bromoacetophenone as a possible new DNA cleaver is explored. Pyrrolecarboxatmid conjugated 4'-Bromoacetophenone, in particular, DNA cleaving activity and sequence-selectivity on the contiguous AT base pair sites.
