  • The expression of signal to noise ratio (SNR) is derived for the individual echo sounder and for the general specifications of commercial echo sounder. The SNR is depicted by several factors on transmitting and receiving, sound propagation, scattering by fishes, and mainly self ship noise. The detection ranges of echo sounders in depth and breadth are derived by finding the border of an acceptable SNR. The detection ranges are computed for the echo sounders of individual and general specifications. Generally, the detection range is lager for low frequencies. Increasing an electrical power and a diameter of transducer is not as effective for high frequencies as for low frequencies to increase the detection range. The theoretical results of the detection range can be applied to design low electrical power echo sounder for coastal use, to select an appropriate echo sounder, to know the capability of a sounder, and to interpret echograms. A method for evaluating and designing low electrical power echo sounder is developed. A universal diagram for the basic design of the low electrical power echo sounder where SNR is plotted against frequency is developed. An appropriate frequency, transducer diameter, and beam width are easily determined by using the diagram.

  • The author previously defined the spectral invariants, denoted by $\rho(H;\;a)$, of a Hamiltonian function H as the mini-max value of the action functional ${\cal{A}}_H$ over the Novikov Floer cycles in the Floer homology class dual to the quantum cohomology class a. The spectrality axiom of the invariant $\rho(H;\;a)$ states that the mini-max value is a critical value of the action functional ${\cal{A}}_H$. The main purpose of the present paper is to prove this axiom for nondegenerate Hamiltonian functions in irrational symplectic manifolds (M, $\omega$). We also prove that the spectral invariant function ${\rho}_a$ : $H\;{\mapsto}\;\rho(H;\;a)$ can be pushed down to a continuous function defined on the universal (${\acute{e}}tale$) covering space $\widetilde{HAM}$(M, $\omega$) of the group Ham((M, $\omega$) of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms on general (M, $\omega$). For a certain generic homotopy, which we call a Cerf homotopy ${\cal{H}}\;=\;\{H^s\}_{0{\leq}s{\leq}1}$ of Hamiltonians, the function ${\rho}_a\;{\circ}\;{\cal{H}}$ : $s\;{\mapsto}\;{\rho}(H^s;\;a)$ is piecewise smooth away from a countable subset of [0, 1] for each non-zero quantum cohomology class a. The proof of this nondegenerate spectrality relies on several new ingredients in the chain level Floer theory, which have their own independent interest: a structure theorem on the Cerf bifurcation diagram of the critical values of the action functionals associated to a generic one-parameter family of Hamiltonian functions, a general structure theorem and the handle sliding lemma of Novikov Floer cycles over such a family and a family version of new transversality statements involving the Floer chain map, and many others. We call this chain level Floer theory as a whole the Floer mini-max theory.

  • When analyzing forms in the human body and clothes, we conceptualize each part into a cone, sphere, and cylinder, and the esthetic characteristics of our fashion culture and esthetic fashion characteristics of Koreans are composed by expressing with universal images such as circle, square, and triangle when forms are expressed in a plane. To determine how the structural principle of shapes that are the shapes of all things and basic to geometry, i.e., circle, square, and triangle, applies to clothes that cloth our body called the small cosmos, we discussed the symbolic meaning hidden inside the structure of Korean clothes based on the basic pattern drafting method of Korean men’s traditional trousers. We drew the conclusion that Korean men's trousers composed of circles, triangles, and squares express the five elements diagram through their plane structure, are designed in circles with cones and pyramids, and are made to well express the principle of the small cosmos of our body. Moreover, when the basic pattern of Korean men’s trousers explained with the antipathy diagram is viewed to create all things while maintaining opposite and complementary relationship with Sangsang (mutually benefitting factor), it would be correct to say that the principle of the top verse the bottom is viewed as conflicting. From the structural point of view, since the philosophy of the Samsu principle (the principle of 1, 2 and 3 in which 1 represents the heaven, 2 represents the earth, and 3 represents the people) is hidden in Korean men's trousers in which Hurimalgi (the part of trousers corresponding to the waist band of Western pants) is the circle representing the heaven, Marupok is the square representing the earth, and Sapok is the triangle representing the people, we could look at deep meaning of our ancestors expressed in our clothes.

  • In recent years, the cyber attack has become a universal phenomenon, and the attacks in cyberspace are regarded as a kind of war, cyber-warfare. However, cyber-warfare is difficult to identify the damage caused by the attack. In order to effectively evaluate the damage to the attack that may occur in the cyber-warfare, this paper describes the damage evaluation simulation of the cyber-warfare based on DEVSim++, which can calculate the damage to the cyber attack using the MOCE (Measure of Cyber Effectiveness). Also, in order to help the commander in the cyber Command&Control phase, the number of victims by attack classification is expressed in the form of Venn diagram.
