자동차 터보차저 베어링 시스템에 적용되는 스퀴즈 필름 댐퍼의 동적계수 측정을 위한 실험장치 개발 (Test Rig Development for Identification of Rotordynamic Force Coefficients of Squeeze Film Dampers in Automotive Turbocharger Bearing Systems)

  • This paper describes a new test rig for identification of rotordynamic force coefficients of squeeze film dampers (SFDs) in automotive turbochargers (TCs). Prior studies have mainly concentrated on relatively large-sized SFDs used in aircraft engines, turbocompressors, and turbopumps. The main objective of the current study is to propose a test rig for identification of dynamic force coefficients of small-sized SFDs (a journal diameter of ~11 mm). The current test rig consists of a journal, a SFD cartridge, four support rods, an upper structure, a data acquisition (DAQ) system, and an oil circulation unit. The annular gaps between the journal outer surface and SFD cartridge inner surface create SFD film lands. The damper has two parallel film lands separated by a central groove, having an axial length and depth of 3 mm. Each film land has a length of 4 mm with a $40{\mu}m$ radial clearance. The static load and dynamic impact tests identify the structural characteristics (i.e., stiffness and natural frequency) of the journal and assembled test rig. The measurements show good agreement with predictions. The SFD performance data from this test rig will be used to develop innovative TC rotor systems with improved NVH and reliability characteristics incorporating advanced SFD technology.

Modeling and Simulation for a Tractor Equipped with Hydro-Mechanical Transmission

  • Purpose: A simulator for the design and performance evaluation of a tractor with a hydro-mechanical transmission (HMT) was developed. Methods: The HMT consists of a hydro-static unit (HSU), a swash plate control system, and a planetary gear. It was modeled considering the input/output relationship of the torque and speed, and efficiency of HSU. Furthermore, a dynamic model of a tractor was developed considering the traction force, running resistance, and PTO (power take off) output power, and a tractor performance simulator was developed in the co-simulation environment of AMESim and MATLAB/Simulink. Results: The behaviors of the design parameters of the HMT tractor in the working and driving modes were investigated as follows; For the stepwise change of the drawbar load in the working mode, the tractor and engine speeds were maintained at the desired values by the engine torque and HSU stroke control. In the driving mode, the tractor followed the desired speed through the control of the engine torque and HSU stroke. In this case, the engine operated near the OOL (optimal operating line) for the minimum fuel consumption within the shift range of HMT. Conclusions: A simulator for the HMT tractor was developed. The simulations were conducted under two operation conditions. It was found that the tractor speed and the engine speed are maintained at the desired values through the control of the engine torque and the HSU stroke.

  • 우라늄 산화물의 금속전환을 위해 고온 용융염 중에서 전기화학적 환원공정에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 공정은 우라늄 산화물뿐만 아니라 다른 악틴족 원소 산화물 및 일부 희토류원소 산화물 역시 금속으로 환원되는 장점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 금속산화물들은 독창적으로 고안된 일체형 음극 및 불활성 양극을 이용하여 금속으로 환원되며, 음극에서 발생된 산소 이온은 양극으로 전달되어 산화됨으로서 산소기체를 발생시킨다. 용융염 중에서 알칼리 및 알칼리토류 산화물에 대한 전기화학적 거동은 아직 완전히 밝혀지지 않았으며, 후행핵연료주기의 단위공정으로서 개발중에 있다. 사용후핵연료의 열 부하는 주로 세슘 및 스트론슘에 의한 것으로, LiC1 용융염 중에서 세슘, 스트론슘 및 바륨 산화물에 대한 용해 속도 및 환원전위를 고찰하였다.

  • 본 연구는 환경부하 저감을 위해 슬래그 시멘트를 사용하고 플라스틱 섬유보강재(폴리프로필렌, 나일론, 유리섬유)를 혼입하여 고강도 간격재를 개발하고 현장적용성을 평가하는 연구이다. 이를 위해 예비실험을 통하여 4가지 섬유 복합재의 첨가량이 결정되었다. 또한 역학적 시험(압축, 휨, 인장) 및 내구성 시험(흡수율, 투수율, 길이변화율, 균열저항성, 탄산화, 동결융해)을 통하여 최적의 섬유재를 도출하였으며, 이를 이용한 고강도 섬유재 간격재의 배합 및 생산시스템을 개발하였다. 또한 현장적용성 평가를 통하여 개발된 간격재의 구체 콘크리트 일체성을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구의 주된 목적은 반복적인 하중조건하에서 연성포장체의노반재료로써, EPS블럭의 시간의존적 변형을 연구하는데 있다. 반복하중 조건에서의 EPS블럭의 거동을 이해하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 실험적 방법 및 수치모형을 제시하였다. 이 수치모델링을 위해서 반복하중 조건하에서 관찰된 변형거동과 단위중량, 변형 그리고 적용된 하중과의 상관관계의 조사가 행해졌다. 실험결과는 핀들레이 이론과 반복하중 조건에서의 연구결과의 모델 분석등과 비교되었고, 보완된 핀들레이 모델과 본 연구에서 제시한 모델은 반복하중에서의 EPS블럭의 변형거동을 나타내는데 이용될 수 있는 것으로 기대된다.

A comparison of the fracture resistances of endodontically treated mandibular premolars restored with endocrowns and glass fiber post-core retained conventional crowns

  • PURPOSE. This in-vitro study aimed to evaluate the fracture resistances and failure modes of endodontically treated mandibular premolars restored with endocrowns and conventional post-core retained crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Thirty mandibular premolars were assigned into three groups (n=10): GI, intact teeth; GE, teeth with endocrowns; GC, teeth with conventional post-core supported crowns. Except for the teeth in group GI, all specimens were cut to 1.5 mm above the cementoenamel junction and endodontically treated. Both endocrowns and conventional crowns were fabricated from lithium-disilicate blocks using a CEREC 3D CAD/CAM unit. All specimens were subjected to thermocycling and then to $45^{\circ}$ oblique compressive load until fracture occurred. The fracture resistance and failure mode of each specimen were recorded. Data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and LSD Post Hoc Test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The fracture resistances of GE and GC were significantly lower than that of GI (P<.01), while no significant difference was found between GE and GC (P=.702). As of the failure mode, most of the specimens in GE and GC were unfavorable while a higher occurrence of favorable failure mode was presented in GI. CONCLUSION. For the restoration of mandibular premolar, endocrown shows no advantage in fracture resistance when compared with the conventional method. Both of the two methods cannot rehabilitate endodontically treated teeth with the same fracture resistances that intact mandibular premolars have.

MgO를 이용한 다공성 탄소 섬유 제조 및 이를 이용한 연료전지용 촉매 특성 (Preparation of Porous Carbon Fiber by Using MgO Powder and Its Characteristics of Catalysts for Fuel Cell)

  • Nano-MgO와 메조페이스 피치로부터 복합 탄소섬유를 만들고 MgO를 제거함으로써 직접 메탄올 연료전지용 촉매 담지체로서의 다공성 탄소섬유를 제조하였다. 이 다공성 탄소섬유의 비표면적은 $8{\sim}58m^2/g$ 이고, 표면기공구조는 마이크로기공이 거의 없이 MgO 입자크기 유래의 메조기공(10~15 nm)으로 구성된 것이 특징이며, MgO 혼입량(1~10 wt%)에 따라 조절할 수 있었다. 본 다공성 탄소섬유를 담지체로 이용하여 함침법으로 60 wt% Pt-Ru 촉매를 담지하였으며, 제조된 Pt-Ru 촉매의 메탄올 산화 특성 및 단위전지 성능 측정 결과 상용촉매에 비하여 5~10% 이상 향상된 값을 나타내었다

  • 최근의 오디오 압축 알고리듬은 다양한 코딩 기법을 조합하여 사용하고 있다. 이들은 DSP 작업(DSP task), 제어 작업(controller task), 그리고 혼합 작업(mixed task)으로 나눌 수 있다. 기존의 DSP 프로세서들은 이들 중 DSP 작업만을 효율적으로 설계되어 있어 제어작업이나 혼합작업에 대해서는 자원을 효율적으로 활용하지 못하는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 DSP 프로세서가 가지는 DSP 작업에 대하여 고성능을 그대로 유지하면서 제어작업과 혼합작업에서도 좋은 성능을 가지는 새로운 구조를 제안하고 구현하였다. 제안된 프로세서 YSP-3는 4개의 실행 유닛 (곱셈기, 2개의 ALU, 메모리 접근 유닛)을 병렬로 배치한 후 4-way 수퍼스칼라명령어 구조를 사용하여 각 우ㅠ닛을 독립적으로 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안된 구조는 일반적인 DSP 알고리듬과 AC-3 디코딩 알고리듬을 실행하여 성능을 평가하였다. 마지막으로 VHDL을 통해 $0.6\$\mu$textrm{m}$-3ML 표준셀 기술로 합성한 후 Compass상에서 모의실험으로 통해 33MHz의 시스템 클럭에 대해 최대 지연시간 상황에서 실시간 동작을 확인하였다.

  • The cooling load in winter is significant in many commercial buildings and hotels because of the usage of office equipments and the high efficiency of wall insulation. The development of a multi-heat pump that can cover heating and cooling simultaneously for each indoor unit is required. In this study, the performance of a multi-heat pump with 3-piping system was investigated as a function of refrigerant charge and its performance was analyzed in cooling mode, heating mode, and heat recovery mode. COP in the heating or cooling mode showed little dependence on refrigerant charge at overcharge conditions, while those were strongly dependent on refrigerant charge at undercharge conditions and outdoor inlet temperature. In the heat recovery mode, the performance of the system was very sensitive to charge amount at all conditions. Optimum charge amount in the heat recovery mode was 14% lower than that in the cooling mode at the standard condition because the refrigerant only passed the indoor units. It is required to store the excessive refrigerant charge in a storage tank to optimize the system performance at operating modes.

  • This paper analyzes the output characteristics of a self excited induction generator with isolated mode according to change of its speeds and loads for building a hybrid electric propulsion system in special purpose ships by using power take off. The induction generators are being considered as an alternative choice to the well-developed generators because of their lower unit cost, inherent ruggedness, operational and maintenance simplicity. However, the generator working by stand alone has a few problems that the reactive power is required to establish the air gap magnetic flux, and the induced voltage and magnetizing current fluctuate when the load is varied. In spite of its advantages, basic design data of the capacitor bank and behaviors of the output characteristics of the generator are not sufficient for the system. Based on the operating condition(speed range of main engine) of the target boat, a reduced experimental equipment system was constructed to analyze the output characteristics of the SEIG. And a suitable capacitor bank of a stand-alone generator and its output characteristics under various loads was investigated in detail through these experiments. According to the experimental result, it was confirmed that the capacitor bank should be $70{\mu}F{\sim}100{\mu}F$, and the proper SEIG induced voltage should be DC 80 V ~ 250 V in order to storage electrical energy into a battery.
