A Study on Sizing System and Wearing Conditions with School Uniform Pants for Highschool Girls (여고생 바지 교복의 사이즈 체계 및 착용 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was conducted to provide basic information on developing highschool-uniform pants with more suitable fit. To carry out this study, questionnaires were administered to 187 students in high schools in Gwangju. The collected data were analyzed with frequencies statistics, t-test, ANOVA using the SPSS WIN 18.0. The results are as follows; As results of research on highschool-uniform regulation, 88% of the highschool in Gwangju allowed their students to wear school uniform pants. As results of investigation on the school-uniform pants sizing system of manufacturing firm, it was found that there's a trend towards increasing a large size with the change body type. The size labelling for school uniform pants was waist circumference-stature. There were differences in pants sizes according to the manufacturing firm and body measurements such as hip circumference, in seam length, pants length. As results of survey on wearing conditions, the selection of school uniform pants has increased in winter season. The most important body measurement in the choice of purchase was thigh circumference. In fit of uniform pants, respondents answered that waist circumference and hip circumference became smaller according to the physical growth.

  • The purpose of this thesis is presenting desirable design of uniform which could reflect high school girls' demands with the researches on their consciousness of fashion and actual state of uniforms. Methods to accomplish this research include first, examinationson characteristics of high school girls and their consciousness of fashion with relevant articles, second, interviews with designers from major domestic uniform brands - ELITE, IVY, SMART - and third, analysis on related internet sites. Practical researches are followed by design analysis and proposal of improvement on high school girls' uniform, accompanied by collection of photographs from field studies, major uniform brands' shops and uniform related internet sites. Korean high school girls in the digital era are able to express themselves in each different fashion with own individuality, preference or intention, as they are particularly interested in clothes or their appearances. Their consciousness of fashion became visible in a shape of negative attitude and dissatisfaction with uniforms due to its out-of-date design, lack of features and inconvenience in action. Besides more than half of high school girls already experienced reforming it for better looks. As a result of current analysis on references of uniform designs, various levels of refinement were noticed even in uniform of similar details, design, fabric textile and color due to differences on size & length of jacket collar, dart, cutting line, size of details, decorative line, easiness in fit, length of clothes, and etc. To provide students of more refined and desired designs which reflect their demands, current uniforms are to begin acquiring delicate changes with present vogue and feature such as size of details, silhouette, cutting line, decorative line and etc. In addition newly designed uniforms are to present desirable design with image of refinement and neat as they actively comprehend students' needs within its symbolic, functional, economic and aesthetic characteristics by nature.

A survey on the size satisfaction and wearing conditions of house caddie uniforms (하우스 캐디유니폼의 치수만족도 및 착용 실태 조사 연구)

  • This study was carried out to research the size satisfaction and the actual conditions of house caddie uniforms. Survey participants consisted of 310 caddies at 6 membership golf clubs. In order to perform this study 45 questionnaires were used, which consisted of questions pertaining to size satisfaction and sewing, laundry management, and inconvenience and, most importantly performance. Frequency analysis was implemented using SPSS 10.0. The results of this study could be summarized as followed; The highest dissatisfaction factors in the presently worn uniforms were sleeve length and pants hem width. The highest dissatisfaction factors in the sewing satisfaction were pocket and armpit area. Activity is the most important consideration in the choice of a uniform. These results will be applied to develop a comfortable uniform design.

  • The work-man's uniform should be coincident wit the image of his firm and accounted of the function according as its purpose. We made questions to 404 workers at 8 firm in our country through the questionnaire papers to know about a work-man's uniform and researched whether the satisfactory in wearing his uniform had relation with his type of business, grade, carrier, age, marriage, and monthly income. The results of this study is as follows; 1. In the uniform status of the fir, thee were many jumper styles in he design of the uniform. The color of that was more dark than bright and the materials of one was used much more chemical fiber than natural fiber. Each of the field office supplied the uniform to his work-man more frequently than the main office. All of firm payed off the uniform expense and decision of the uniform design was almost made both the firm and the labour union. 2. In he satisfaction of the uniform, the satisfaction of uniform was shown high in the design, color, materials, size and function. The highest dissatisfaction reason is as follows; it was disagreeable to concrete design in the design and dark color and keeping warm or draft was bad in the materials, the bust and pant's length was long in the size. 3. In preference of the uniform, the older of preference in the design was what the working environment and the image of firm was suitable, the characteristic uniform. The order of preference in the color was beige, blue, grey. The preference of in the materials was good to keep warm and draft. The preference in the pattern was 'no pattern' every type of business. The experts, or administrators and office workers than others preferred 'no pattern' of the uniform in the pattern.

A study on sizing system for the school uniforms of middle-school boys (남자중학생의 교복 치수체계 설정에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to develop a school uniform sizing system with high coverage rate for middle school boys, who are in the stage of rapid growth, by identifying problems in existing school uniform sizing systems through surveys of students and uniform manufacturing companies, and analyzing juveniles' physical sizes. For this purpose. the study conducted a survey about how middle school boys choose their uniform sizes, and what complaints they have on the size of the uniforms. In addition, it was investigated what is the current state of uniform manufacturing and sizing systems through a survey of uniform companies, and the study identified problems in the size of school uniforms by comparing physical sizes of juveniles' aged 14 to 16 with the sizing systems of the companies and KS standards in 1997. Juveniles' physical data was a part of the material of the national anthropometric data in 1997. Using the two-way distribution of juveniles' height-bust girth and height-waist girth, this study established the sizing system by increasing the number of sizes for the short interval where juveniles' physical sizes are densely distributed whereas limiting the number of sizes for the long interval where juveniles' physical sizes are rarely distributed, considering the difference between companies' standard and KS' standard.

A Survey on the Actual Wearing Conditions of Fire Fighter's Uniform (한국 소방복의 착용만족도 및 착용자 의견에 관한 조사연구)

  • To develope an efficient fire fighter’s uniform for the fire fighting work and body protection, this study examined the regulations of fire lighter’s uniform and surveyed the actual wearing conditions, satisfaction degree, preferred color and design others. The results are as follows; 1. As for the satisfaction degree, the degree was normal in ordinary, low in working uniform and heat-proof uniform and very low in water-proof uniform about its design, size, color and materials. 2. As for the color, red was preferred for the working uniform and water-proof uniform. Blue, yellow and green was preferred next for corking uniform and yellow and blue for water-proof uniform. 3. As for the design, fire fighters wanted partial revision of the present uniform. They preferred stretchy training wear style and overact style in order. For the water-proof uniform, they preferred hip-length suit and pants and next to it they liked flee-length suit, waist belt and overact in order. 4. As for the regulations of the uniform, they wanted some addition in casual uniform, water-proof pants and water-proof gloves, and some deletion in the thermal barrier of water-proof uniform and ordinary uniform. 5. As for the distribution of the uniforms, the use of coupons was highly preferred.

Study of Facial Expression Recognition using Variable-sized Block (가변 크기 블록(Variable-sized Block)을 이용한 얼굴 표정 인식에 관한 연구)

  • Most existing facial expression recognition methods use a uniform grid method that divides the entire facial image into uniform blocks when describing facial features. The problem of this method may include non-face backgrounds, which interferes with discrimination of facial expressions, and the feature of a face included in each block may vary depending on the position, size, and orientation of the face in the input image. In this paper, we propose a variable-size block method which determines the size and position of a block that best represents meaningful facial expression change. As a part of the effort, we propose the way to determine the optimal number, position and size of each block based on the facial feature points. For the evaluation of the proposed method, we generate the facial feature vectors using LDTP and construct a facial expression recognition system based on SVM. Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to conventional uniform grid based method. Especially, it shows that the proposed method can adapt to the change of the input environment more effectively by showing relatively better performance than exiting methods in the images with large shape and orientation changes.

Dilutant flow characteristics model of coarse particle suspensions with uniform size distribution

  • It is expected that particle size distribution of any portion obtained through screening, is of more uniform than that of the original mixture, typically following such as log-normal, Rosin-Rammler distributions and so on. In this study, therefore, a new relation between parameters of the uniform distribution and flow characteristics of the coarse particle suspensions is derived based on the continuous polydisperse model (Ookawara and Ogawa, 2002b), which is derived from the discrete polydisperse model (Ookawara and Ogawa,2002a). The derived model equation predicts a linear increase of viscosity with shear rate, viz., dilutant flow characteristics. Further, the increase of viscosity is expected to be proportional to the square of volume fraction of particles, and to show the linear dependency on density and average diameter of particles. It is also shown that the uniform distribution model includes additional term that expresses the effect of distribution width. For verification of the model, the experimental results of Clarke (1967) are cited as well as in our previous work for the monodisperse model (Ookawara and Ogawa,2000) since most parameters were varied independently in his work. It is suggested that the newly introduced term expands the applicable range compared with the monodisperse model.

A Study on Sizing System for Child Hospital Gown (어린이 환자복의 치수 규격에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to devise a sizing system for child hospital gown(uniform). The researchers surveyed the usage of child hospital gown and developed a sizing system for the child hospital gown. The suitability of revised size specification of gown was evaluated. 219 child inpatients participated in the survey and 13 child inpatients took part in the wear test. The results of the study were as following. 1) 71.7% of the subjects wore the uniform shirts. however numerous number of subjects did not wear uniform pants that the hospital provided(52.5%). The 68.2% of children who were shorter than 100cm did not wear uniform pants. 2) The most significant reason not wearing the hospital gown was unsuitable sizing system (42.1%). Inconvenience for donning and doffing comes next(26.2%). 3) The least satisfied garment size problems were the pants length and sleeve length. 4) The researchers developed a sizing system for the child hospital gown. The system provides 4 different sizes for children age from 2 months to 12 years. One-piece dress style was suggested for the smallest size(XS). The larger sizes(S. M. L) were designed in pajama style. 5) The sizing system developed in this study was moderately satisfied by the users.

A Study on the Pattern of 20s Taekwondo Uniforms Considering Motion, Function, and Dimension Adaptability: Focused on Appearance and Functional Evaluation (동작기능성과 치수적합성을 반영한 20대 태권도복 패턴 연구: 외관 평가와 동작기능성 평가를 중심으로)

  • Originating in South Korea, Taekwondo has been globally popular among individuals who desire to improve their health in a unique fashion. The Taekwondo uniform, one of the essential factors within the sport, needs to possess both functionality and size suitability to support dynamic movements within Taekwondo. This study investigated the development of patterns in Taekwondo uniforms by suggesting patterns that reflect physical suitability derived from appearance tests and movement functionality tests of the uniforms. More specifically, we selected a sample uniform and conducted a dressing test, which considered both the aesthetics and the functionality of the garment. Then, we considered size suitability, which allowed us to design practical Taekwondo uniform patterns that encompassed more variation in body sizes of both men and women. The result of the dressing test was that women's uniforms typically required more factors compared to men's uniforms due to women's relatively smaller physiques. Based on this result, we revised the pattern to also encompass the minor differences in uniforms between men and women. In the end, the Taekwondo uniforms for women required more modifications than those for men.
