A Study on the Physical Properties Between MTS and RING Spun Yarns (MTS 사와 Ring 사의 역학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study surveys the yarn physical properties of the MTS spun yarn & Ring spun yarn. For this purpose, wool/polyester 50%/50%, 2/72Nm blended yarns were made simultaneously with same materials to minimize the error. Yarn count, twist, unevenness, hairiness, bending properties, and compression properties of the yarns were measured and discussed with MTS spun yarn & ring spun yarn.

  • For the high center of gravity vehicles the roll stiffness of their suspensions is arranged to be very high because such vehicles are in some danger of tipping over in cornering. In some cases, the effective roll stiffness is determined significantly by the compliance of the tires because of the very stiff anti-roll members incorporated in the suspension. In such cases, it is clear that the shock absorbers which may be effective in damping heave oscillations have little effect on roll oscillations. Therefore, wind gusts and roadway unevenness may cause large swaying oscillations. In this paper, to improve the stability for the high center of gravity vehicles a control scheme to augment the damping of the roll mode is proposed. As the feedback signals needed to provide damping of the roll motion, the front or rear steer angles or both are chosen because they are very related to roll motion. The scheme is effective from moderate to high speeds and stabilizes the roll mode without introducing disturbance moments from roadway unevenness as shock absorbers do. The validity on the proposed method is verified through the computer simulation.

Effect of pH in 3.5% NaCl aqueous solution and ferrite grain size on corrosion fatigue fracture of dual phase steel (複合組織鋼의 부식피로파괴에 미치는 3.5% NaCl水溶液의 pH와 母相粒徑의 效果)

  • Corrosion fatigue fracture with change in the grain size of M.E.F. dual phase steel is investigated in 3.5% NaCI aqueous solution at pH 2, 4, 6, 9, and 11. Generally speaking, decrease in corrosion fatigue life is strongly dependent on decrease in pH and slightly on the grain size. For the B material with the big grain size, the fatigue life is small due to its large reduction ratio of corrosion fatigue life. The influence of grain size on the reduction ratio of corrosion fatigue life is large at pH 11-6. Whi9le at pH 4-2 the reduction ratio of corrosion fatigue life only depends on the corrosion effect. The larger grain size and the lass pH result in the greater influence on corrosion fatigue crack propagation rate. As pH decreases, the plateau portion in the crack propagation rate curves of the B material are distinct. Crack propagation rate curves become slow down at high .DELTA.K range because crack closure effect by minute corrosion products inside crack causes the oxidation corrosion action less effective for a certain period of time. In A material with small grain size, fatigue life is increased in proportion with increase of martensite intergranular which brings forth restraining the crack propagation decreases crack propagation rate. Corrosion pit which is created in the surface of specimen is found at pH 6,4 and 2 which is noticeable and the unevenness of the surface of the specimen becomes severe as pH decreases. The unevenness of corrosion fatigue fracture surface is severe as the effect of pH increases i.e. as pH decreases. In proportion with increase in the grain size and decrease in pH, the aspect of brittle fracture becomes evident.

Physical Property of PTT/Wool/Modal Air Vortex Yarns for High Emotional Garment (고감성 의류용 PTT/울/모달 에어 볼텍스 복합사의 물성)

  • Polytrimethylene Terephthalate (PTT) is an eco-fiber with good elastic properties; however, it requires more detailed studies related to spinnability according to blending of various kinds of fibers. The evolution of spinning technology was focused on improved productivity with good quality; in addition, air vortex spinning was recently invented and applied on the spinning factory as the facility with good productivity and quality. More detail spinning technology according to the blending of various kinds of fibers on the air vortex spinning system is required to obtain good quality yarns for high emotional fabrics. In this paper, the physical properties of air vortex, compact and ring staple yarns using PTT/wool/modal blend fibers were investigated with yarn structure to promote high functional PTT that includes fabrics for high emotional garments. Unevenness of air vortex yarns was higher than those of compact and ring yarns; in addition, imperfections were greater than those of compact and ring yarns, which was attributed to a fascinated vortex yarn structure. Tenacity and breaking strain of air vortex yarns were lower than those of compact and ring yarns, caused by higher unevenness and more imperfections of air vortex yarns compared to compact and ring yarns. Vortex yarns showed the highest initial modulus and ring yarns showed the lowest ones which results in a stiff tactile feeling of air vortex yarns in regards to the initial modulus of yarns. Dry and wet thermal shrinkages of air vortex yarns were lower than ring yarns. Good shape retention of vortex yarns was estimated due to low thermal shrinkage.

  • Rock joint roughness obtained from the camera-type 3D scanner was classified into waviness and unevenness. The classification criteria were established in the previous study; digital filtering was used to distinguish one from another. The classified and original profiles were used to produce metal moulds. For accurate machining of the moulds, the WEDM(Wire-cut Electric Discharge Machining) was adopted. Specimens were cast using high strength gypsum, and joint shear tests were performed by varying normal stress from low value to high one. Roughness mobilization characteristics depending on the asperity scale and the applied normal stress were investigated. A new equation was proposed to predict shear strength of rock joint, which can consider the characteristics of roughness mobilization and roughness parameters. The roughness quantification composed of waviness and unevenness was found to be a useful method to predict the joint shear strength.

  • To meet the ever increasing quality demand of coated papers and duplex boards, the local gloss variation and print unevenness must be avoid. To do this, surface roughening phenomenon which affects local gloss and print unevenness was investigated. In this study, the effect of roughness and densification of sheet obtained at various calendering conditions on surface roughening was examined. To evaluate the calendering effect properly we introduced a new value of roughening index by moisture for evaluation of surface roughening. Caliper and roughness of sheet decreased with increasing of calendering temperature and pressure, and the remarkable reduction of those properties occurred at the temperature around Tg. Roughening index increased when the amount of water increased and calendaring temperature and pressure increased. And as the sheet became denser by calendering, the roughening index increased to some extent. But roughening index by moisture is the lowest for sheet precalendered at higher temperature condition. When the surface of calendered sheet is rougher, there is more roughening of surface. The severe condition of calendering made the roughening index by moisture small.

The Effect on the Wear-Corrosion Behavior of Ductile Cast Iron in the Various pH Environments (구상흑연주철재의 마멸-부식특성에 미치는 pH의 영향)

  • This paper reports the studies on the wear-corrosion behavior of ductile cast iron in the various pH environments. In the variety of pH solutions, corrosion and wear-corrosion loss of GCD 600 were investigated. Also, the anodic polarization test of GCD 600 using potentiostat/galvanostat was carried out. And rubbed surface of GCD 60 using scanning electron micrographs after immersion and wear-corrosion test was examined in the environment of various pH values. The main results are as following In alkali zone, the wear-corrosion loss of GCD 600 increases, but corrosion loss decreases. The unevenness and crack of wear-corrosion surface in neutral zone becomes duller than that in alkali zone. As the corrosive environment is acidified, wear-corrosion behavior of GCD 600 with passing immersion time becomes sensitive.

The Appropriatness of Government Support of Shipping Industry ; A General Equilibrium Approach (해운산업에 대한 정부지원의 타당성 검토)

  • In this study the economic impacts of government support of shipping industry in the labor rich country are appraised in a general equilibrium model. Shipping industry subsidies (which are supposed to be supplied by lump-sum tax) will decrease disposable income by shifting productive resources from traded goods to the comparatively disadvantageous transport sector, and at the same time reduce the implicit tariff effect by lowering transport costs. The net effect of shipping industry subsidies is to increase social welfare because the latter positive effect of shipping industry subsidies is to increase social welfare because the latter positive effect dominates the former negative effect. Such an increase in social welfare can never be expected from competitive traded goods industry subsidies in the case of which social welfare will actually decrease because of inefficient resource allocation resulting from the subsidies. In addition it is worth noting that the subsidies on the most capital intensive shipping industry will rectify unevenness in income distribution by raising relative price of labor contrary to subsidies on capital intensive traded goods.

A Study of Characteristics of Weft Used in Wig Manufacturing (가발에 사용되는 원사의 특성 연구)

  • This study was used a thermogravimetric analyzer to determine thermal characteristics, a hair analysis system to examine morphological changes of wefts-human hair, poly vinyl chloride(PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-used in manufacturing wigs. According to a flammability test on human hair and synthetic wefts for wigs, the best results were observed in human hair. According to a thermal test, PET was the best in terms of thermal stability. Also good tensile strength was observed as well. In a scanning electron microscope observation, no human hair scale layer was found because of chemical treatment. In the PVC sample, homogeneous unevenness was observed. Due to a lack of human hair supply and increase in its price, recently, PET weft has emerged as a great substitution for human hair. Because it can be curled using an electric curling device and is more efficient than the conventional non-flammable material PVC in terms of thermal resistance, it will become the next-generation weft for wigs.

Evaluation of the Ride Values of Passenger Cars on the Unevenness and Endurance Roads (내구력 도로와 요철 도로에서 승용차의 승차감 지수 평가)

  • This paper introduces the experimental results of ride values assessed for several passenger cars. The experiment was conducted at four vehicles on two roads for three persons by measuring the acceleration in the 12-axis of human. The results include the comparison of the ride values, such as the component ride values, overall ride value, and seat effective amplitude transmissibiity. It is proved that acceleration between 1 and 15Hz is the most significant in evaluating the ride quality. The contribution of the acceleration in each measurement axis is quantified from the component ride value. SEAT value shows a relatively low sensitivity for the road condition and human mass.
