Even though underground conduits have became important city-infra structures which should be exhaustively and efficiently managed, there is few systems which supports the well-defined facility management standards. Due to the lack of the supporting systems, experts must visit underground conduits scattered several cities over the country to see and check the status of the underground conduits including built-in facilities. This type of management gives us a little bit delayed status information at the end of so much time and money costs. In this paper, to solve this problem and manage the conduit synthetically, we developed a web-based facility management system for underground conduits by using information technologies. The developed management system has a simplified map drawing interface to depict the overall architectures and locations of underground conduits and their built-in facilities into sketch maps. And, the system uses the 3D panorama image technology with zooming functions in addition to still images and video images to give the feeling of a spot inspection. Moreover, since the system accumulates the data of repair/reinforcement, occasional inspections and safety diagnosis, conduit managers can synthetically and effectively manage the facilities within underground conduits and themselves.

In order to conduct rapid, accurate and safe surveying at the excavation site, In this study, the possibility of underground facility survey using drones and the expected effect of 3D visualization were obtained as follows. Phantom4Pro 20MP drones have a 30m flight altitude and a redundant 85% flight plan, securing a GSD (Ground Sampling Distance) value of 0.85mm and 4points of GCP (Groud Control Point)and 2points of check point were calculated, and 7.3mm of ground control point and 11mm of check point were obtained. The importance of GCP was confirmed when measured with low-cost drones. If there is no ground reference point, the error range of X value is derived from -81.2 cm to +90.0 cm, and the error range of Y value is +6.8 cm to 155.9 cm. This study classifies point cloud data using the Pix4D program. I'm sorting underground facility data and road pavement data, and visualized 3D data of road and underground facilities of actual model through overlapping process. Overlaid point cloud data can be used to check the location and depth of the place you want through the Open Source program CloudCompare. This study will become a new paradigm of underground facility surveying.

In this paper, a power management circuit was designed to drive the emergency lighting LED in the underground facility for public utilities using magnetic energy harvest. The magnetic energy harvest consists of a harvest elements and power management circuits. The proposed circuit was made of a rectifier, a battery charging circuit, and an LED driving circuit. In normal times, the battery is charged with the harvested power, and in the event of an emergency, the energy stored in the battery is used to drive the LED. As a result of the measurement, it took two minutes to charge the 47 mF capacitor. This is the amount of power that can drive an LED for emergency lighting for about three and a half minutes. Through this, it was confirmed that the power management circuit for magnetic energy harvest proposed in this paper can be used as an emergency lighting LED-driven power device in an underground facility for public utilities where it is difficult to draw separate power.

In Korea, safety accidents are continuously occurring due to the aging of underground facilities and lack of systematic management. Moreover, although the underground space is continuously being developed, the current status information is not clearly recorded and managed, so there is a limit to the systematic management of underground facilities. Therefore, this study developed an augmented reality-based system that can effectively maintain and manage underground facilities that are difficult to manage because they are located underground. In order to develop an augmented reality-based underground facility management system, three essential requirements, 'precise localization', 'use of BIM information', and 'ensure usability' were derived and reflected in the system. By utilizing Broadcast-RTK, the positional precision was secured to cm level, and the configuration and attribute information of the BIM was converted into the IFC format to construct a system that could be implemented in augmented reality. It developed an application that can optimize usability. Finally, through simulation, the configuration and attribute information of structures and mechanical systems constituting underground facilities were implemented in augmented reality. In addition, it was confirmed that the accurate and highly consistent augmented reality system works even in harsh environment (near high-rise building).
The main topic of this paper is to show a possibility of indoor air quality enhancement and the fan energy savings in underground parking facilities by applying the demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) strategy based on the real-time variation of the traffic load. The established ventilation rate is estimated by considering the passing distance, CO emission rate, idling time of a vehicle, and the floor area of the parking facility. However, they are hard to be integrated into the real-time DCV control. As a solution to this problem, the minimum ventilation rate per a single vehicle is derived in this research based on the actual ventilation data acquired from several existing underground parking facilities. And then its applicability to the DCV based on the real-time variation of the traffic load is verified by simulating the real-time carbon monoxide concentration variation. The energy saving potentials of the proposed DCV strategy is also checked by comparing it with those for the current underground parking facility ventilation systems found in the open literature.

In this study, runoff simulation was carried out in the area of Bisan 7-dong, Seo-gu, Daegu as drainage basin and the effects of the installation of underground storage facilities were analyzed during heavy rainfall. SWMM model was used for the runoff and pipe network analysis on Typhoon Maemi, 2003. 2-D inundation analysis model based on diffusion wave was employed for inundation analysis and to verify computed inundation areas with observed inundation trace map. The simulation results agree with observed in terms of inundation area and depth. Also, the effects of flood damage mitigation were analyzed through the overflow discharge and 2-D inundation analysis, depending upon whether the underground storage facility is installed or not. When the underground storage facility ($W:120m{\times}L:180m{\times}H:1.7m$) is installed, volume of overflow could be reduced by 72% and flooding area could be reduced by 40.1%. When the underground storage facility ($W:120m{\times}L:180 m{\times}H:2.0m$) is installed, volume of overflow could be reduced by 84.8% and flooding area could be reduced by 50.6%. When the underground storage facility ($W:120m{\times}L:180m{\times}H:2.2m$) is installed, volume of overflow could be reduced by 94% and flooding area could be reduced by 91.2%. There is no overflow of manhole, when the height of storage facility is 2.5 m. It is expected that the study results presented through quantitative analysis on the effects of underground facilities can be used as base data for socially and economically effective installation of underground facilities to prevent flood damage.
In recent years, as flood damage caused by heavy rains increased, the great-depth tunnel using urban underground space is emerging as a countermeasure of urban inundation. The great-depth tunnel is used to reduce urban inundation by using the underground space. The drainage efficiency of great-depth tunnel depends on the intake design, which leads to increase discharge into the underground space. The spiral intake and the tangential intake are commonly used for the inlet facility. The spiral intake creates a vortex flow along the drop shaft and reduces an energy of the flow by the wall friction. In the tangential intake, flow simply falls down into the drop shaft, and the design is simple to construct compared to the spiral intake. In the case of the spiral intake, the water level at the drop shaft entrance is risen due to the chocking induced by the flowrate increase. The drainage efficiency of the tangential intake decreases because the flow is not sufficiently accelerated under low flow conditions. Therefore, to compensate disadvantages of the previously suggested intake design, the multi-stage intake was developed which can stably withdraw water even under a low flow rate below the design flow rate. The hydraulic characteristics in the multi-stage intake were analyzed by changing the flow rate to compare the drainage performance according to the intake design. From the measurements, the drainage efficiency was improved in both the low and high flow rate conditions when the multi-stage inlet was employed.
This paper presents a logistic regression and GIS based urban ground sink susceptibility assessment using underground facility information considering soil particle loss. In the underground environment, the particle loss due to water flow or groundwater level change leads to the occurrence and expansion of cavities, which directly affect the ground sink. Four different contributory factors were selected according to the two underground facility domains (water pipeline area, sewer pipeline area) and subway line area. The logistic regression method was used to analyze the correlation and to derive the regression equation between the ground sink inventory and the contributory factors. Based on these results, three ground sink susceptibility maps were generated. The results obtained from this study are expected to provide basic data on the area susceptible to ground sink and needed to safety monitoring.
The study is to perform numerical analysis of train fire characteristics in an underground subway tunnel, depending the different locations of ventilation facility. To study the characteristics of train fire, two kinds of worst-case scenarios are selected, based on escape distance, escape time, and fire zone, and trends and thermal environments of tunnel are analyzed by changing the locations of ventilation facility for times. Fire characteristics is calculated by using FLUENT v.6.3.26, and turbulent flow is calculated by using the standard k-${\varepsilon}$ model. The numerical results show distribution of carbon monoxide concentration, temperature, and velocity. The results of this study will contribute to building the most suitable ventilation systems when designing subway stations and tunnels.
There has been a renewal of interest in management of underground facility in recent years. As several research have been made on management for underground facility of waterworks pipe. In this paper smart-tag is defined and applied to requiring ubiquitous environment. Also, GPS is essential technology for the implementation of proposed program, which has GPS and RFID mixed business model. And it manages data of underground facility with RFID system effectively and provides the high quality practical effectiveness of entire system through GPS receiving module and network communication on GIS. In conclusion, this paper proposed applications management system with location mixed database. Proposed database and interface skill is tested and evaluated through the simulation.
