This study was carried out to analyze the composition of landfill generation gas using vertical pipe wells installed at landfill. The characteristics of composed waste were examined by the open-cut test at H. landfill in Pusan. The waste compositions of landfill layer by Open-cut test indicated that organic matter was average $4.6{\sim}8.78%$ in each landfill. $CH_4$ compositions of gas in each landfill were $49.71{\sim}50.45%$(A-point), $50.39{\sim}53.74%$(B-point), and $58.76{\sim}61.62%(C-point), respectively. The chemical formula of organic matter left in the underground was $C_{36.3}H_{76}O_{30}N_{0.3}S_{0.1}$ Underground temperatures were changed to $18.8{\sim}25.8^{\circ}C$ when the ambient temperature was about $13.4^{\circ}C$. Temperatures with passed times in A, B and C-lysimeter were about $21.1{\sim}22.5^{\circ}C,\;30{\sim}32.5^{\circ}C$ and $35{\sim}38.5^{\circ}C$, respectively. After about 65 day, decomposition rates of organic matter in A, B and C-lysimeter were 9.9%, 14.9% and 22.3%, respectively.

Domestic road and railroad construction have been increasingly growing and for reasons of mitigating traffic congestion, urban plan and refurbishment project, deeper and longer tunnels have been built. The event of fire is the most fatal accident in a tunnel, and it can be very disastrous with a high possibility. In this study, QRA (Quantitative Risk Analysis) which is one of quantitative risk analysis approaches was applied to tunnel fire safety design and the evaluation of QRA cases and the cost comparison of QRA methods were carried out. In addition analysis of risk reduction effect of tunnel fire safety system was conducted using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and the priority of major factors that could mitigate the risk in tunnel fire was presented. As a result, significant cost reduction effect could be obtained by incorporating QRA and it is expected to design fire safety system rationally. The priority of fire safety system based on risk mitigation effect by fire safety system considering the cost is in order of water pipe, emergency lighting, evacuation passage and smoke control system.

This study is about the reinforcing type of reinforcement method which is reinforced in tunnel portal of tunnel with bad ground condition. Generally, it is known that the horizontal reinforcement method is more effective than the conventional reinforcement method. However, as a limitation of the tunnel construction technology, it is being constructed by the superposition reinforcement method. In recent years, high-strength large-diameter steel pipes and horizontally oriented longitudes (L = 30.0~50.0 m) construction technology have been developed. Therefore, it is required to study reinforcement method of tunnel portal reinforcement method. Therefore, 3-D numerical analysis (Midas GTS NX 3D) was performed by setting the reinforcement method (No reinforcement type, overlap reinforcement type and horizontal reinforcement type) and ground condition as parameters. As a result, it was considered that the reinforcement effect was the largest as the horizontal reinforcement type of the reinforcement method was the smallest in the displacement and the support material stress. Based on the results of the numerical analysis, horizontal steel pipe grouting was applied to the actual tunnel site. The displacement of the tunnel portal and the stress of the support material occurred within the allowable values and were considered to ensure sufficient stability.
In recent, the using of the hydraulic filling method has increased on the underground reinforcement of the abandoned mine in Korea, however it is the lack of research on the efficient filling method. In this study, tank model tests and field tests were conducted for development of tip device for filling efficiency improvements on the hydraulic filling method. In tank model experiments, the filling efficiency was evaluated according to the form and angle of the nozzle on tip device in the same condition. Then tip device model designed by tank model tests was applied to the field experiment. As a result, the amount of filling of nozzle $90^{\circ}$ tube is increased by approximately 18% compared to the common vertical injection pipe. The angle of repose was $30.82^{\circ}$. Filling hole spacing in the field is usually designed from 5m up to 10m assumed to be $40^{\circ}$ of the angle of repose. According to the results of this study, it is possible that the filling hole spacing expands at least 10m up to 15m applied to be $30^{\circ}{\sim}35^{\circ}$ of the angle of repose. Therefore, it is expected to be economical and efficient mine filling.
There are a lot of curved subway stations in Seoul metropolitan area. These must be straightly constructed as many as possible. But some of stations are roundly designed and built in order to avoid pre-existed underground obstacle such as basement of high rise building, underground gas or water pipe line and subway stations from another line. As shown fig 1, one of the biggest problem occurring curved subway station is considered large gap between platform and vehicle when vehicle completely stop at the station. The gap potentially is in existence to subway passenger as very dangerous factors in rush hours. If passenger accidentally drop their food or leg between this gap when they get on the train and train leaves station, the passenger will be seriously injured by vehicle. In this paper, various design and instruments are introduced and best solution for this matter will be presented. In order to eliminate any possibility of accident happened gap between platform and vehicle, KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) have been developed new safety instrument. These technologies were applied for patent by KRRI. These mechanisms will provide confidence as well as safety to Korean subway passenger
Nitrogen fertilizer is an essential macronutrient that requires repeated input for crop cultivation. Excessive use of nitrogen fertilizers can adversely affect the environment by discharging NH3, NO, and N2O into the air and leaching into surrounding water systems through rainfall runoff. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a technology that reduces the amount of nitrogen fertilizer used without compromising crop yields. Fertilizer deep placement could be a technology employed to increase the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer use. In this study, a deep fertilization device that can be coupled to a tractor and used to inject fertilizer into the soil was developed. The deep fertilization device consisted of a tractor attachment part, fertilizer amount control and supply part, and an underground fertilizer input part. The fertilization depth was designed to be adjustable from the soil surface down to a depth of 40 cm in the soil. This device injected fertilizer at a speed of 2,000 m2/hr to a depth of 25 to 30 cm through an underground fertilizer injection pipe while being attached to and towed by a 62-horsepower agricultural tractor. Furthermore, it had no difficulty in employing various fertilizers currently utilized in agricultural fields, and it operated well. It could also perform fertilization and plowing work, thereby further simplifying agricultural labor. In this study, a newly developed device was used to investigate the effects of deep fertilizer placement (FDP) compared to those with urea surface broadcasting, in terms of rice and soybean grain yields. FDP increased the number of rice grains, resulting in an average improvement of 9% in rice yields across three regions. It also increased the number of soybean pods, resulting in an average increase of 23% in soybean yields across the three regions. The results of this study suggest that the newly developed deep fertilization device can efficiently and rapidly inject fertilizer into the soil at depths of 25 to 30 cm. This fertilizer deep placement strategy will be an effective fertilizer application method used to increase rice and soybean yields, in addition to reducing nitrogen fertilizer use, under conventional rice and soybean cultivation conditions.
In this article, we are to suggest the hazard-assessing method for the underground pipelines, and find out the pipeline-maintenance schemes of high efficiency in cost. Three kinds of methods are applied in order to refer to the approaching methods of listing the hazards for the underground pipelines: the first is RBI(Risk Based Inspection), which firstly assess the effect of the neighboring population, the dimension, thickness of pipe, and working time. It enables us to estimate quantitatively the risk exposure. The second is the scoring system which is based on the environmental factors of the buried pipelines. Last we quantify the frequency of the releases using the present THOMAS' theory. In this work, as a result of assessing the hazard of it using SPC scheme, the hazard score related to how the gas pipelines erodes indicate the numbers from 30 to 70, which means that the assessing criteria define well the relative hazards of actual pipelines. Therefore. even if one pipeline region is relatively low score, it can have the high frequency of leakage due to its longer length. The acceptable limit of the release frequency of pipeline shows 2.50E-2 to 1.00E-l/yr, from which we must take the appropriate actions to have the consequence to be less than the acceptable region. The prediction of total frequency using regression analysis shows the limit operating time of pipeline is the range of 11 to 13 years, which is well consistent with that of the actual pipeline. Concludingly, the hazard-listing scheme suggested in this research will be very effectively applied to maintaining the underground pipelines.
In order to analyze the effect of burial depth on the generation of ground cavities and cave-ins, a series of model experiments with different height of model ground were performed. Digital images of the model ground were captured to evaluate the internal deformation of the model grounds by adopting the PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique. Additionally, the vertical displacement at the surface, the size of the cavity, and the weight of the discharged soil were measured in each test. The results indicate that the model ground with low burial depth, which does not satisfy the criterion, was more vulnerable to ground cavities and cave-ins than the model ground with high burial depth.

Nowadays, the hydraulic power unit (HPU) has been increased its working pressure and enlarged its capacity in order to improve the performance of the hydraulic system, but it produces noise leveled around 110dB(A) during operation. Recently, due to the reinforcement of industrial safety regulations and the requirement of improving work environment, a separated HPU room is installed at outside or underground of the building as to reduce the noise from HPU, but there are also problems of power loss owing its fluid friction of pipe system and of deficient accessibility during its failure accident. In this study, experiment is performed to improve the noise characteristics with installing a soundproof chamber to minimize the power loss and exclude effectively the high leveled noise, which is generated during the power conversion of HPU.
It is analyzed the risk of building damage due to ground surface subsidence occurred during constructing a tunnel below buildings in sand-gravel layer. The overburden and the thickness of sand-gravel layer is about 20m and the width and the height of the tunnel are 12m and 8.6m, respectively. The tunnel is pre-reinforced by umbrella method with three rows of long steel pipes and grouting. Surface subsidence is measured at 36 points surrounding buildings and measured data are used to calculate optimized three dimensional subsidence surface. Depending on the building location, deflection ratio and horizontal strain are calculated to evaluate the risk of building damage. No damage occurs at the buildings because of both the small deflection ratios involved 1~4mm subsidence and compressive horizontal strains.
