Studies on the Synthesis of Yellow Coupler and Color Development (황색 발색제의 합성과 발색현상에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, yellow coupler was prepared by the reaction of ${\alpha}$-pivaloyl- 2-chloro-5-aminoacetaniline hydrogen chloride with 1-hexadecane sulfonyl chloride in the presence of pyridine. The product was identified by using various analytical tools such as melting poin elemental analyzer, IR spectrophotometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, mass spectrometer. The reaction of yellow coupler with CD-3(color development agent) was shown yellow color.

  • In the study, sensitizing dye was prepared by the reaction of 2-methyl-3-sulfopropyl-5-phenyl-benzoxazolium(inner salt) with ortho-ester in the presence of triethylamine. The product was identified by using various analytical tools such as Elemental analyzer, IR spectrophotometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, $^{1}H$-NMR spectrometer, TGA and DSC. Therefore, it was concluded that benzoxazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as green-sensitizing dye for the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion.

  • The symmetric naphthothiazolo carbocyanine is of industrial importance as green-sensitizing dye in the spectral sensitization of emulsion microcrystals in negative film-making. In this study, green-sensitizing dye was prepared by the reaction of 2-methyl-3-sulfopropyl-5-phenyl-benzoxazolium(inner salt) with triethyl orthoacetate in the presence of triethylamine. The product was identified by using various analytical tools such as Elemental analyzer, IR spectrophotometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, $^1H$-NMR spectrometer, TGA and DSC. The maximum absorption peak in methanol solvent was 502nm. Therefore, it was concluded that benzoxazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as green-sensitizing dye for the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion.

  • In this study, benzoxazolo carbocyanine is of industrial importance as green-sensitizing dye in the spectral sensitization. Sensitizing dye was prepared by the reaction of 2-methyl-3-sulfopropyl-4,5-benzoxazolium (inner salt) with triethyl orthobenzoate in the presence of triethylamine. The product was identified by using various analytical tools such as elemental analyzer, IR spectrophotometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, $^1H$-NMR spectrometer, TGA and DSC. The maximum absorption peak in methanol solvent was 507 nm. Therefore, it was concluded that benzoxazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as sensitizing dye for the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion and color cosmetics.

Comparison of Analytical Methods for DEHP Migration from PVC Bags for Blood Storage and Infusion; By Gas Chromatography and UV-vis Spectrophotometry (혈액·수액용 PVC 백에서 용출된 DEHP의 검출 분석 방법 비교; 기체 크로마토그래프와 분광 광도계)

  • Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) may be released from plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) articles. In the cases of various methods for the quantitative analysis of migrating DEHP, there are much differences in migrating quantity according to the experimental methods. It is therefore important to make the comparison and analysis between these two results. A study of DEHP migration from blood and infusion bags has been carried out in different methods to evaluate the amount of DEHP migration using gas chromatograph and UV-vis spectrophotometry. Five PVC bags were cut into plane sheets in size of $40{\times}10{\times}0.4mm$, then were immersed in extraction solvent for an hour to release DEHP. It was determined by a gas chromatograph that $23.2{\sim}70.9{\mu}g/mL$ of DEHP was extracted. While extraction solvent was injected into PVC bags which were then placed for an hour to leach DEHP out. It was checked by a UV-vis spectrophotometer that the concentration of DEHP in extraction solvent was $24.8{\sim}41.3{\mu}g/mL$. Two results show different values according to the extraction conditions and experimental methods and the gas chromatographic results were converted into UV-vis spectroscopic results on condition that DEHP would be extracted equally per unit time and unit contact area. It was concluded that DEHP migrating amounts are approximately equal in two analytical methods.

In-vitro Anticancer and Antioxidant Activity of Gold Nanoparticles Conjugate with Tabernaemontana divaricata flower SMs Against MCF -7 Breast Cancer Cells

  • Biologically stabilized gold nanoparticles were synthesized from the flower aqueous extract of T. divaricata. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Zeta sizer, FTIR and TEM analysis. T. divaricata reduced gold nanoparticles having particle size and potential of 106.532 nm and -10.2 mV, respectively, with a characteristic peak of 550 nm in UV-visible spectrophotometer. FTIR graph after comparison between the crude flower extract and gold nanoparticles showed three major shifts in the functional groups. The morphology and size of the gold nanoparticles were examined by HRTEM analysis, which showed that most of the nanoparticles were nearly spherical with size of 100 nm. The gold nanoparticles synthesized demonstrated potent anticancer activity against MCF-7 cell line. The findings conclude that the antioxidant molecule present in T. divaricata may be responsible for both reduction and capping of gold nanoparticles which possess potential applications in medicine and pharmaceutical fields.

An evaluation on crystallization speed of N doped $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin films by nano-pulse illumination (나노-펄스 노출에 따른 질소 첨가한 $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ 박막의 결정화 속도 평가)

  • In this work, we report that crystallization speed as well as the electrical and optical properties about the N-doped $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin films. The 200-nm-thick N-doped $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin film was deposited on p-type (100) Si and glass substrate by RF reactive sputtering at room temperature. The amorphous-to-crystalline phase transformation of N-doped $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin films investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Changes in the optical transmittance of as-deposited and annealed films were measured using a UV-VIS-IR spectrophotometer and four-point probe was used to measure the sheet resistance of N-doped $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin films annealed at different temperature. In addition, the surface morphology and roughness of the films were observed by Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). The crystalline speed of amorphous N-doped $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ films were measured by using nano-pulse scanner with 658 nm laser diode (power : 1~17 mW, pulse duration: 10~460 ns). It was found that the crystalline speed of thin films are decreased by adding N and the crystalline temperature is higher. This means that N-dopant in $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ thin film plays a role to suppress amorphous-to-crystalline phase transformation.

Electrochromic Property of a Conductive Polymer Film Fabricated with Vapor Phase Polymerization (증기중합으로 제조된 전도성 고분자 박막의 전기 변색 특성)

  • Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), which has the highest stability in conducting polymer was employed to electrochromic (EC) film and studied about electrochromic properties according to the film fabrication method. PEDOT films were coated by two different methods, electropolymerization (EP) and vapor phase polymerization (VPP). Both of PEDOT films showed dark blue color at dedoped neutral state. Spectroelectrochemistry, switching ability and stability of the devices were investigated by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and Cyclic voltammetry. Surface morphologies of the PEDOT VPP film at oxidized and reduced state were obtained by AFM. The average surface roughness of the PEDOT-VPP film was 50 nm and more homogeneous than that of the PEDOT-EP. The EC property from the PEDOT-VPP film was improved compared to that of the PEDOT-EP film, to show a response time of 1.5 sec, transmittancechange of 49%, and coloration efficiency of 402.
