  • A negative photoresist formulation was developed utilizing synthesized UV monomers containing imide linkage, photoinitiator, UV oligomer, and alkali developable polymer matrix. It was found that via-holes with good resolution, high transmittance and thermal resistance could be obtained by photolithographic process utilizing the negative-type photoresist formulations.

  • In this paper, we studied the electro-optical(EO) performance of photo-aligned twisted nematic(TN)-liquid crystal display(LCD) with oblique non-polarized ultraviolet(UV) light irradiation on polyimide(Pl) surface. We observed that the voltage-transmittance and response time characteristics of photo-aligned TN-LCD is almost same compared to conventional TN-LCD. Also, we observed that the voltage-holding-ratio(VHR) of photo-aligned TN-LCD is almost same compared to conventional TN-LCD.

A Study on the Dye Wastewater Treatment by Advanced Oxidation Process (고급산화공정을 이용한 염료폐수의 처리기술 연구)

  • Dye wastewater generally contains strong color and non-biodegradable materials. Therefore, the conventional wastewater treatment plant can hardly meet the regulation of wastewater effluent water. In this study, a pilot plant of the conventional process followed by advanced oxidation process (AOP), was set up to treat the dying wastewater. The treatment efficiencies on the various candidate processes, such as ozone alone, UV alone, ozone/UV, $ozone/H_2O_2$, $H_2O_2/UV$ and $ozone/UV/H_2O_2$, were investigated in the various ozone and $H_2O_2$ doses. As the results, the $ozone/H_2O_2$ process, among the tested processes, showed the highest efficiency for removing color and $COD_{Cr}$. For color removal, the ozone alone process was enough without combining UV or $H_2O_2$. No significantly enhanced efficiency for removing color and $COD_{Cr}$ by UV irradiation was observed because of the very low transmittance of UV light in dye wastewater.

AI doped ZnO thin film deposited with $O_2$ gas flow rate (산소 가스 유량비에 따라 제작한 Al이 도핑된 ZnO 박막)

  • We prepared the AZO thin film with different $O_2$ gas flow rate. the AZO thin films were deposited on glass substrate at room temperature, working gas pressure of 1mTorr. the electrical, structural and optical properties of AZO thin films were investigated by using Hall Effect measurement system, X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) and UV-VIS spectrometer. From the results, we could obtain that AZO thin film with low resistivity of $8.5{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$ was exhibited in specific $O_2$ gas flow rate. Also, the transmittance of over 80% in visible range was observed in specific $O_2$ gas flow rate. In all of the AZO thin film with the transmittance of over 80%, diffraction peak of (002) direction was observed, while amorphous peak was observed in the AZO thin film with the low transmittance.

Physical Properties of Ophthalmic Hydrogel Polymer Containing Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles

  • ZnO nanoparticles and vinyl pyridine were added to the mixture of MMA (methyl methacrylate), HEMA (2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate) and NVP (N-vinylpyrrolidone) in a mould at various concentrations. Cross-linker EGDMA (ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate) and AIBN (azobisisobutyronitrile) initiator were finally added to the mixture and then heated at $80^{\circ}C$ for 60 min to prepare high-performance hydrogel ophthalmic lens. The physical properties of the hydrogel ophthalmic material were investigated by measuring the average value of refractive index, water content and optical transmittance. The refractive index of 1.429~1.450, water content of 34~41%, and visible transmittance of 78~90% were obtained. The material is possibly used to manufacture UV-block hydrogel contact lens.

The electrical, optical and crystallographic properties of AZO thin film with $O_2$ gas flow ratio have been investigated. The thickness, transmittance, crystal structure and resistivity of AZO thin film were measured by a-step, UV-VIS spectrometer, XRD and four-point probe, respectively. As a result AZO thin film deposited with the transmittance over 80% and the resistivity about $10^{-1}\Omega-cm$.

  • In this study, we analyze the electrical optical characteristics of transparent glass for photovoltaic and glass-glass module application. The elemental facts from raw glass to laminated glass with solar cells are analyzed using UV spectrophotometer and spectroradiometer. From the data of transmittance and reflectance, the optimum PV module processing condition and selection of material for fabrication should be considered deeply for obtaining high module efficiency. Also we introduce two glasses which has 2%$\sim$4% higher transmittance using coating technology with anti-reflection material. From this experiment, we try to give some basic information for PV module manufacturing industry. The detail description is specified as the following paper.

Synthesis, Photophysical and Aggregation Properties of Novel Phenanthrene and Pyrene Substituted Phthalocyanines

  • We have explained the synthesis of novel phenanthrene and pyrene substituted phthalocyanines (PC-PHE and PC-PYR) and fully confirmed the structures by its spectral, photo physical and elemental analysis. For these phthalocyanines we checked the UV-Visible absorbance in PGMEA and chloroform and transmittance checked in PGMEA. The transmittance results suggested that these phthalocyanines are showing more than 90% transmittance at the 450-550 nm region. These synthesized molecules are nicely soluble in almost all industrial solvents. We checked the aggregation property of these phthalocyanines in PGMEA, and the results suggested no any aggregation for these molecules in PGMEA. The thermogravimetric analysis results concluded that PC-PHE and PC-PYR had high thermal stability. All studies explain that these new phthalocyanines are more suitable for LCD green color filter application.

Control of Pretilt Angles on Various Photo-Crosslinkable Polyimide based Polymers by Photodimerization

  • In this research, we synthesized various photo-crosslinkable polyimide based polymers. The control of pretilt angles for a nematic liquid crystal (NLC) using the photodimerization method on the photopolymers was studied. A good thermal stability of the photopolymers was measured by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) measurement until 450C. High pretilt angles of the NLC were otained by polarized UV exposure on the photopolymers containing biphenyl (BP), decyl (de), and cholesteryl (chal) groups, respectively. However, low pretilt angles of the NLC were measured by polarized UV exposure on the photopolymers containing fluorine and chalcone groups. The high NLC pretilt angles generated are attributable to the biphenyl and alkyl moieties, and the photodimerized chalocone group of the photopolymers. Additionally, good voltage-transmittance and response time characteristics were observed by UV exposure on the photopolymers.
