태양에너지이용을 위한 $TiO_2$ 박막의 제작과 특성 (Preparation and Properties of $TiO_2$ Films for Solar Energy Utilization)

  • $TiO_2$ thin films for solar energy utilization were prepared on ITO coated glass by r.f magnetron sputtering with variations of working pressure, oxygen flow rate and annealing temperature. Ion insertion and extraction reaction, and ion storage properties of films were investigated by using a cyclic voltammetry. Transmittance of thin films in as-prepared, colored and bleached states was measured by UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The samples deposited in our sputtering conditions showed poor electrochromic properties. Improvement in ion storage properties of $TiO_2$ thin film was observed after annealing at temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ in air for 2 hours. It was found that $TiO_2$ thin film in electrochromic device could be used as a passive counter-electrode.

  • Spectral reflectance of paddy, brown rice, milled rice, greenish grain, yellow grain and denatured grain were measured over the range of 340 to 820 nm with "Double Beam Spectrophotometer(Model UV-180)". Variation in the reflectance depending on milling degree of milled rice appeared greatest over the range of 420 to 500 nm, and that between white rice and other rice samples appeared greatest near 500 nm. On the basis of the above results, a whiteness meter to measure milling degree of rice was manufactured using tungsten lamp, photodiodes and amplifier, and its performance was compared with the existing whiteness meters (KETT and Z-II optical sensor). There were very high correlations among those whiteness meters.

  • Ethanolysis of squid viscera oil with immobilized lipase was investigated for reducing the free fatty acid contents and enhancing the function of the oil by stepwise addition method of Shinmada[1]. Tendency of oil variation during Ethanolysis showed increased content of diglyceride, monoglyceride and fatty acid ethyl ester with reduced free fatty acid contents. The oil composition was analyzed using GC-FID and compared before and after ethanolysis. Structural analysis of the lipid was performed by HPLC-UV spectrophotometer during ethanolysis. The transformed oil was thought to has suitable properties for functional oil production.

  • In this work, we report the physical properties of amorphous $Al_2O_3$ thin films by plasma-enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD) using trimethyl-aluminium (TMA) as the Al precursor at low temperatures. The thin films were deposited on Si substrates. The composition and the bonding structure of the amorphous $Al_2O_3$ films were studied using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Ellipsometer and UV-visible Spectrophotometer and MOCON.

Recyclable Porphyrin Catalyst with Core-shell Nanostructure

  • In the search for a simple preparation method of heterogeneous catalyst, the iron porphyrins were coordinated bonded to the surface of a polymeric core-shell nanosphere. The heterogeneous catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, scanning electron microscope, and UV-vis spectrophotometer. The iron porphyrin bound core-shell nanospheres was about 470 nm in diameter and their catalytic activity for cyclohexene oxidation was similar to a homogeneous iron porphyrin in a solvent composition range of 25-75% acetonitrile/water (v/v). In addition, they could be recovered by simple centrifugation and their catalytic activity was maintained more than the third cycle.

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are considered hazardous air pollutants and these are emitted from building materials and household products. VOCs can cause global warming as well as human sickness, and even cancer. Photocatalysis provides a way of converting VOCs into harmless materials. Various researches have shown that $TiO_2$ is the most efficient photocatalysts due to its excellent activity. In this study, metal/non-metal doped $TiO_2$ particles are synthesized for the enhancement of the photocatalytic properties of pure $TiO_2$. By metal/non-metal doping, band gap energies of prepared samples were analyzed by UV/Visible spectrophotometer. The physical and chemical properties of synthesized powder were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope, by BET for measuring their specific surface area, and by XRD for phase identification and particle size determination. Degradation ability for p-xylene was evaluated through monitoring the concentration in a closed chamber. Relation between their properties and decomposition abilities for VOC were evaluated based on the experimental results.

  • The fabrication of high quality graphene using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method for application in semiconductor, display and transparent electrodes is investigated. Temperature and pressure have major impact on the growth of graphene. Graphene doping was obtained by deposition of $MoO_3$ thin films using thermal evaporator. Bilayer graphene and the metal layer graphene were obtained. According to the behavior of graphene growth P-type doping was confirmed. Graphene obtained through experiments was analyzed using optical microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, UV-visible light spectrophotometer, 4-point probe sheet resistance meter and atomic force microscopy.

  • Transparent MgO thin films were deposited on glass substrates by electron beam evaporation of MgO (99.99%) under $O_2$ atmosphere at 150-250 $^{\circ}C$. These films were characterized for their useful properties such as thickness, transmission, and refractive index using ultraviolet / visible (UV/VIS) spectrophotometer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Spectroscopic Ellipsometry. The thickness of MgO films were measured by alpha step instrument and found to be 600 nm to 1000 nm and are meeting the stoichiometry. The transmission spectrum of these films shows transmittance values ${\sim}$92%..

Effective extraction of antioxidantive oligomeric proanthocyanidins from mountain grape seeds

  • The interest of oligomeric proanthocyanidins(OPCs) as therapeutic agents against diseases involving radical damage is growing. Proanthocyanidins are a class of polyphenolic compounds in several plant species and are oligomers of flavan-3-ol monomer units. Polyphenols in green and black tea, grape seeds, grapes and wine have raised much attention but mountain grape seed has not been investigated intensively up to now This study investigated the total OPCs contents and the total antioxidant activity of mountain grape seeds. Total antioxidant activity using DPPH method was employed and OPCs contents were determined by means of the UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The total OPCs yield of mountain grape seeds was about 1.45 % and total antioxidant activity was 15.8 ${\mu}g/m{\ell}$.

Cr-doped Y2O3-Al2O3계 붉은 안료의 합성과 적용 (Synthesis of Cr-doped Y2O3-Al2O3 Red Pigments and their Application)

  • New inorganic red pigments based on Cr-doped $Y_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ were synthesized by solid state method and characterization of their pigments were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, SEM and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The single perovskite phase revealed at $1450^{\circ}C{\sim}1550^{\circ}C$ for 6 h due to using mineralizers. The color of pigment powders resulted out various red-shades depending on the compositions of used materials and temperatures. Glazed tiles painted with pigment powders showed red color in oxidation and reduction firing. The best red colour was obtained when the $Cr_2O_3$ was used 0.04 mole at $1450^{\circ}C$ for 6 h.
