시야각 조절이 가능한 내시경 광섬유 레이저 가공 기술 (Laser micromachining of optical endoscopic fiber for viewing)

  • In this paper, controlling shape of optical fiber tip for endoscope was investigated for eliminating blind spot. The blind spot of endoscope is generated by divergence angle of optical fiber, so it is easy to generate blind spot when tightly focusing. In order to eliminate this region, fiber tip is necessary to be controlled as convex or concave. Illumination simulation of convex and concave type of fiber tip in the endoscope was in progress, so the distance of non- blind region was investigated in each case. As well as the simulation, the tip was fabricated as concave shape by UV laser machining. Then the beam radiation was measured to observe the blind region. The result showed that controlling the fiber tip as convex or concave shape makes the narrow blind region of illumination in endoscope.

  • A compact, flexible family of UV laser material processing systems has been developed to drive advancements in both large area processing and annealing of semiconductor surfaces. UV photons can either be applied via demagnifying a mask pattern image or by scanning a homogenized excimer beam across the substrate area. 193nm, 248nm and 308nm wavelength applications are supported.

  • UV molding is a process for integrating micro/nano polymeric optical components on optoelectronic modules. In the present study, a microlens array for vertical cavity surface emitting laser(VCSEL) to fiber coupling was designed, integrated and tested. At the design stage, design variables ware optimized to maximize the coupling efficiency, and tolerance analysis was carried out. At the integration stage, the UV transparent mold was fabricated and the microlens array on VCSEL array was integrated by UV molding process. Finally the coupling efficiency of VCSEL to fiber was measured and analyzed.

  • Generally, micro-stereolithography technology uses laser and complex optical system as light source and light delivery system, respectively. In this research, a novel micro-stereolithography technology that uses UV lamp that is more economical than UV laser as light source and optical fiber that is simpler than previous light delivery system has been developed. Furthermore, precise control system that is composed of 3-axis linear stage and shutter has been used to fabricate truly three dimensional micro-structure. For confirming the feasibility of developed micro-stereolithography apparatus, the solidification experiments were conducted. The solidification widths and depths datum of photopolymer as varying scanning speed of the UV light have been obtained. Using developed apparatus, some micro structures were fabricated successfully.

  • Recently micro-nano structures has widely been reported to improve the performance of waterproof, heat isolation, sound and light absorption in various fields of electric devices such as mobiles, battery, display and solar panels. A lot of micro-sized holes on the surface of thin film provide excellent sound, or heat, or light transmission efficiency more than solid film and simultaneously nano-sized protrusions around micro hole increase the hydrophobicity of the surface of thin film because of lotus leaf effects as generally known previously. In this paper new rapid fabrication process with 355 nm UV laser ablation was proposed to get micro-nano structures on the surface of thin film, which have only been observed at higher laser fluence. Developed thin micro-nano structured film was also investigated the hydrophobic property by measuring the contact angle and demonstrated the possibility to apply to water droplet separation.

  • Fiber Bragg gratings have many applications such as fiber sensors, band-stop filters, add-drop filters, and mode convertors. In this paper, we present the fabrication method of various fiber Bragg gratings by using continuous wave UV-Argon(frequency-doubled Argon) laser. In our experiments, hydrogenation of fibers was used to enhance photosensitivity of fiber. And we fabricated fiber gratings by the phase mask method.
