RCV bogie frame structure safety evaluation according to UIC Code (국제 철도 연맹 규정(UIC Code)에 따른 RCV 대차 프레임 구조 안전성 평가)

  • Nowadays, traffic congestion is emerging as a major problem due to the rapid population growth and the increase in automobiles. The train is a convenient means of transportation that can efficiently solve these problems. Trains have been developed in line with human aspirations for a long time, but research on safety is still insufficient. This study aims to check safety by conducting static tests and fatigue tests on bogie frames, and to help develop bogie frames in the future. For the static test, a strain gauge was attached to the point where the local stress concentration was expected beforehand, and the result value was derived, compared with existing theories, and expressed as a Goodman diagram. In the fatigue test, a total of 10 million loads were applied over three stages, and no cracks appeared in the non-destructive test conducted after each stage. Both tests were conducted according to the strict test method of the bogie frame presented by the UIC Code. It satisfied both fatigue life and strength evaluation criteria and was judged to be a bogie frame usable for safe train production.

  • An International Cooperative Biodiversity Group (ICBG) program based at the University of Illinois at Chicago initiated its activities in 1998, with the following specific objectives: (a) inventory and conservation of of plants of Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam and of medicinal plants of Laos; (b) drug discovery (and development) based on plants of Vietnam and Laos; and (c) economic development of communities participating in the ICBG project both in Vietnam and Laos. Member-institutions and an industrial partner of this ICBG are bound by a Memorandum of Agreement that recognizes property and intellectual property rights, prior informed consent for access to genetic resources and to indigenous knowledge, the sharing of benefits that may arise from the drug discovery effort, and the provision of short-term and long-term benefits to host country institutions and communities. The drug discovery effort is targeted to the search for agents for therapies against malaria (antimalarial assay of plant extracts, using Plasmodium falciparum clones), AIDS (anti-HIV-l activity using HOG.R5 reporter cell line (through transactivation of the green fluorescent protein/GFP gene), cancer (screening of plant extracts in 6 human tumor cell lines - KB, Col-2, LU-l, LNCaP, HUVEC, hTert-RPEl), tuberculosis (screening of extracts in the microplate Alamar Blue assay against Mycobacterium tuberculosis $H_{37}Ra\;and\;H_{37}Rv),$ all performed at UIC, and CNS-related diseases (with special focus on Alzheimer's disease, pain and rheumatoid arthritis, and asthma), peformed at Glaxo Smith Kline (UK). Source plants were selected based on two approaches: biodiversity-based (plants of Cuc Phuong National Park) and ethnobotany-based (medicinal plants of Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam and medicinal plants of Laos). At mc, as of July, 2001, active leads had been identified in the anti-HIV, anticancer, antimalarial, and anti- TB assay, after the screening of more than 800 extracts. At least 25 biologically active compounds have been isolated, 13 of which are new with anti-HIV activity, and 3 also new with antimalarial activity. At GSK of 21 plant samples with a history of use to treat CNS-related diseases tested to date, a number showed activity against one or more of the CNS assay targets used, but no new compounds have been isolated. The results of the drug discovery effort to date indicate that tropical plant diversity of Vietnam and Laos unquestionably harbors biologically active chemical entities, which, through further research, may eventually yield candidates for drug development. Although the substantial monetary benefit of the drug discovery process (royalties) is a long way off, the UIC ICBG program provides direct and real-term benefits to host country institutions and communities.

  • In long tunnel If we reduce the length of system height on catenary system, tunnel construction cost is cut down. It is because of tunnel section curtailment. So that we have review reduction of system height according to tunnel section. We have designed reduction of system height considered characteristics of overhead contact systems within UIC 799 code.

  • 기존의 철도용량의 개념은 하루동안 최대한 통과시킬 수 있는 최대 열차 횟수를 기본으로 하여왔다. 그러나 이러한 단순한 최대횟수는 그 사용상의 여러 가지 제한사항을 가지고 있다. 최대열차 운행횟수는 열차의 속도, 신뢰성등과 같이 고려하여야 하며, 이러한 고려는 자연스럽게 서비스수준과 같은 과거철도에서는 구체적으로 고려하지 않던 새로운 용량에 대한 접근을 요구하게 된다. 2004년에 세계철도연맹(UIC)에서 제안한 철도용량 산정절차는 이러한 측면에서 많은 점을 시사하고 있다. 새로운 절차의 한국의 지역간 철도에의 적용가능성을 검토해 본다. 본 연구에서는 2006년 11월 새로 개편된 경부선, 호남선의 열차시간표를 이용하여, 문제가 되고 있는 서울역${\sim}$시흥역 구간에 대해 UIC에서 새롭게 제시한 선로용량의 개념을 OpenTrack을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 적용해보고, 이에 따라 선로 용량 산정시 적용할 수 있는 MOE를 찾아내 서비스수준(LOS)을 결정할 수 있는 방안을 제시해보고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we reviewed comparing GM/RT2100 with UIC566 OR to verify whether the carbody structure has enough strength to withstand the loads specified by GM/RT2100 or UIC566 OR by obtaining stress levels for the loads, checking whether they are within allowable stress limits. The railway vehicles in Europe are applied GM/RT2100 or UIC566 OR for analysis. But many things are different between GM/RT2100 and UIC566 OR. To apply for the railway vehicles in Europe, we reviewed the difference of the both standards.

  • Brake system in railway train operates to reduce the speed of the train or to stop the train via changing the kinematic energy into heat energy for emission and so brake system makes an important rule to transport passenger and cargo for safety operation. Recently operators have a matter of grave concern for the verification of performance in brake system. To verify the exact performance of brake system, most of brake test has been carried out on real operating track condition. Therefore we will determine the braked weight of indirect brake system applied in Iran DMU(Diesel Multiple Unit) in accordance with mc leaflet 544-1, which is to enable Iran DMU to achieve the required braking distances in defined situation.

Stability and Safety Analysis on the Next Generation High-Speed Railway Vehicle (차세대 고속철도의 안정성 및 안전성 해석)

  • In this work, the stability and safety analysis are carried out to predict the performance of a next generation high-speed railway vehicle (HEMU-400X). Since the safety of the high-speed railway vehicles is very important, it is meaningful to predict the dynamic performance and stability of the railway vehicles using a numerical model at a railway vehicle design step. The critical speed of the dynamic model depending on the conicity of the wheel is calculated in the stability analysis. The critical speed calculated in this analysis is over 400km/h for the conicity value of 0.15, which is determined on the basis of representative international standard, UIC 518. Also, the lateral and vertical accelerations at several points of the same dynamic model are calculated for the safety analysis. In the simulation, the dynamic model runs at the test speed of 440km/h, which is determined considering a maximum target speed, and the total driving distance is 30km. And those estimated values are less than the allowed maximum acceleration values of UIC 518.

  • This article explores the possibilities and limits of the University-Industry Collaboration (UIC) Faculty System from their perspectives. A qualitative research study is conducted to gain an in-depth understanding of experiences of the UIC faculties. Semi-structured interviews of eight UIC faculties working for A University located in the Seoul Metropolitan area were conducted for the date collection. The results suggest that the UIC Faculty System has provided retirees with an opportunity to move into a second career. Their intangible assets such as industrial field experience, R&D competency, organizational competency, and network all together have contributed to the innovation of the university education. However, the short-term performance-oriented operation has prevented the development of the UIC faculty system. These findings suggest that the system should be improved in order to promote its mutual benefits to both universities and UIC faculties.

The Effects of Graduate wages on support program of University-Industry Cooperation(UIC) (대학의 산학협력 지원이 졸업생의 임금에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose - The purpose of the paper is to show that the Effects of graduate wages on support program of UIC is the main topic, due to point of view of the need for change from school-level to student-level. UIC support program is divided into four areas: infra, education, Commercialization, start-up. Design/Methodology - Data were collected three survey from a University UIC Survey(2012) and Self-diagnostic research(2012), and Employment Training Panel(2012). UIC support program is divided into four areas, and graduate wages is researched Average monthly wage, bonuses, additional duty allowance. Statistical methods is used basic statistics, crosstabs, regression analysis Findings -There is was much higher effects in total wages of three variable, first on much Intellectual Property Registration(IP) in university teachers, second university students have founded a private space for start-up, and third much national certification staff from the university. Implications - The issue is that UIC education can not be greater practical effect on the wages of graduates yet. Actively support and quality training support from the government in the UIC program is expected to be followed.

The effects of UIC Cooperation Programs on Youth Employment (정부 산학연협력 지원의 고용효과 분석)

  • In the rapid trend of social change, such as the 4th industrial revolution and the realignment of job structures, university-industry cooperation(UIC) is emphasized as a key factor in enhancing national competitiveness. The level of UIC in Korea is insufficient compared to national competitiveness, and despite the world-class R&D investment, there is a lack of linkage between the result of technology development and the industrial field, and the knowledge-transfer between university and industry is also insufficient. This paper analyzed the employment effects of UIC program supported by government, especially youth employment effects. The companies participating in the UIC program showed higher employment effect than the non-participating companies. In addition, the result of examining the employment growth rate of participating companies only for projects aimed at 'education and human resource development', show that employment growth rate after one year (total, youth employment) was significantly higher than that of non-participating companies, while employment growth after two years was not significant. UIC program need to have sustainability and systemicity so that they can be directly linked to the employment effects.
