A Study on Using U-Service to Strengthen Urban Competitiveness

  • This study examined correlations between U-Service for U-City and assessment indicators for urban competitiveness. The results of this study show that U-Service is used as a means of strengthening urban competitiveness in six types of cities, despite the differences in degree of contribution. The proper use of U-Service in Safety & Health City and Vitality (Economy) City has significantly contributed to strengthening the competitiveness of such cities. Of the assessment items for urban competitiveness, common items and Culture City type show that U-Service has not contributed much to strengthening urban competitiveness. The analysis shows that because common items are part of the assessment items for urban policies, these items are not suitable to the character of a U-City that implements U-Service through intelligent physical facilities. On the other hand, U-Service related to the Culture City type is relatively less developed. This study found out that U-Service could be used to reinforce urban competitiveness.

  • It needs an Integration Management Center in u-City to mange all events for an efficiency of city function, to enhance an installed infrastructure of information, and to provide u-Service like residence, administration, and culture in real time. Integration Management Center is a place to provide a city information from gathering data of communication network, traffic network, and facilities. The u-Services in Integration Management Center need an Integrated Platform to integrate verticality and horizontality between service layer. This paper study an infrastructure of Integration Operation Center and Integrated Platform. Lastly the topics are suggested how to make it a success in u-City.

  • This research is a part of the Intelligent Urban Facility Management project of the Korean Land Spatialization Group (KGSL). First, this study started from the investigation of existing u-City service model in order to drive essential components and considerations for the urban facilities management system. Considering the driven conclusions, this study finally proposed the new classification system of urban facilities management service model and the adequate application method in u-City.

  • A u-city is a vision of a city with computers and sensors built in to its infrastructure, and data sharing among the various information systems. A u-City provides several u-City services to the u-City clients. The u-City services for local governments contain two types of functions: common function and specified function. It is needed a study on generation of specified service models of local governments. The proposed service model divides functions of the city into two service areas: common support service and specified support service. And we suggest the way to generate the u-services of each local government in this paper.

  • 본 연구에서는 u-City인력수급 전망을 토대로 국토해양부의 u-City 관련 인력양성에 대한 실천계획이 효율적으로 실행될 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다. u-City를 추진하는 지자체, 개발사업자마다 공통적으로 제기하는 문제점은 u-City 관련 고급 및 기능 인력의 절대적인 부족이다. 그러나 u-City 전문인력은 u-City건설의 특성상 도시계획 개발, 정보통신망, IT 등 다양한 분야에 대한 전문지식을 갖추어야하나 이러한 고급인력이 배출되고 있지 않다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 인력양성방안의 목표를 'u-City의 성공적인 추진에 부합하는 전문인력양성'으로 설정하였으며, 수요자 중심의 교육, 지역 균형적인 전문인력양성, u-City 관련 분야의 융 복합교육, u-City 관련 교육인프라 구축을 추진전략으로 수립하였다. u-City 인력양성의 추진목표 및 전략을 실행하기 위한 중점추진과제로는 'u-City건설 전문인력교육 관련 수요전망', '지역별 거점대학 선정을 통한 전문인력의 양성', 'u-City 인력양성센터 건립추진', '교육포탈을 통한 온라인 교육', '교육인프라 구축' 등 5개를 선정하였다. u-City 인력양성을 위한 추진전략의 성공적 실행을 위해서는 중점 추진과제들간의 유기적인 연계가 필수적이다.

  • 국토해양부에서는 차세대 국가 핵심역량으로 u-Eco City 사업을 추진하고 있다. u-Eco City 사업에서는 u-Eco City 구현을 위한 다양한 기술이 개발되며, 개발된 기술을 testbed에 적용하여 실제 현장에서의 적용가능성을 검증하는 내용을 포함하고 있다. 본 연구과제는 지방자치단체나 건설업체가 Eco City 를 구축하고자 할 때 활용할 수 있는 u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인 제시를 목적으로 하고 있다. 'u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인'은 6차년도에 걸쳐 진행될 예정인데, 본 연구는 2차년도에 해당되는 연구이다. 2차년도에는 'u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인 프레임웍 개발'을 목표로 하며, 주요 연구내용은 1차년도에 추진되었던 'u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인 기초연구'를 토대로 u-Eco City 구축의 단계를 정립하고, 각 단계별 세부내역을 체계화하며 세부단계별로 수행해야 할 업무를 표준화하는데 있다.

  • Though the interest for the construction of ubiquitous city (u-City) has been increased in many researches, many of those efforts are still done somewhat separated ways such as from the perspective of architectural design of urban city or from the perspective of underlying ICT (Information and Communication Technology) implementation. Since there are various services and technical components involved in u-City implementation, those separated approaches can cause much troubles while implementing u-City. In addition to this, because u-City components are continually changing and expanding, to cope with this evolution, many researches about the infrastructure of u-City should be done in a systematic way while integrally considering various perspectives of u-City. In this research, by combining WBEM/CIM standards to GMA (Grid Monitoring Architecture), we could provide WBEM/CIM design that is usable for u-City implementation. In contrast to the conventional research that is still abstract, our study presents concrete and implementable u-City infrastructure model. We hope our result will be a valuable reference for the other u-City infrastructure-related researches.

  • This paper aims to study the effects of quality of u-City public service on customer satisfaction in the Korea and is summarized as follows. First, we propose a model for assessing customer's satisfaction on u-City public services. The model comprises of information system (IS) quality, information quality, service quality and publicity. For verifying a model, a statistical study by SPSS 12.0 and AMOS 16.0 has been performed. Second, it is shown from the analysis that information system (IS) quality, information quality and publicity have a positive effect on customer satisfaction. while service quality does not. Last, the study shows that u-City public service enables any citizen to connect to necessary service in anytime and anywhere.

  • U-city is one of the most competitive field in Korea in the future and it has many subdivision applying field. U-health and u-disaster are important fields of u-city and many projects are being done about those fields. Because each filed is being developed independently, the better efficiency cannot be expected in case of disaster. The most important focus in disaster is the maintenance of human life and dignity, so u-health and u-disaster should be developed together and organized as the same filed for the practical assistance in case of disaster.

  • 최근 수요가 급증되고 있는 u-City의 경우 성공적인 구축을 위하여 도시통합운영센터라는 개념을 도입하여 추진하고 있으며, 나아가 이를 보다 확장시킨 개념인 도시통합운영체계의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 이처럼 u-City의 핵심기반으로서 도시통합운영체계의 중요성이 증대되고 있는 가운데, 효율적인 도시통합운영체계 구축을 위해선 공간정보 활용이 필요하다. 즉, 지자체에선 오래전부터 GIS 정보화 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 공간정보를 구축 활용하고 있다. 효율적인 도시통합운영체계 구축을 위해선 공간정보의 활용은 필수적이며, 이는 u-City 추진의 핵심적 기반이 될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 u-City 도시통합운영체계에서 공간정보를 효율적으로 활용을 위해 u-City의 도시통합운영서비스와 관련하여 공간정보의 활용성과 활용방안을 제시하고자 한다.
