The data was collected from 810 rural households by interview method with questionnaire. For the analysis, family structure was divided into aspects of static structure and dynamic structure. The static structure was constructed by two components of demographic structure and typological structure. The dynamic structure was also constructed by three components of decision making structure, role structure, and dynamic relationship structure of family members. In demographic structure, family size was 4.1 persons, families, with more female were 35.2%, and families with elder husband than wife were 82.5%, In the typological structure, nuclear family type with two-generation was predominant. • The purposes of this study were to identify styles of contemporary interior design, construct their images, and find out the relation of the identified styles to the structure images. Content analysis was used as the main method of this study, and the focus of the analysis was on a typological approach. Two hundred interior design photos were drawn from five different interior design magazines published in the past ten years, and ,they were analyzed by interior design professionals. Contemporary interior design was classified into ten styles: romantic, ethnic, classical, high tech, elegant, country, modern, minimal, natural, and causal. Given the ten styles, five images of interior design were identified - simple, comfortable, rustic, classical, and delightful. With regard to the relationships between 10 styles and 5 images of interior design, the this study found that the romantic style was related to the images of rustic and classical, the ethnic style to the images of comfortable, classical, and delightful, the classical style to the image of classical, the high tech style to the images of classical and rustic, the elegant style to the images of simple and classical, the country style to the images of comfortable and rustic, the modern style to the images of simple and delightful, the minimal style to the image of comfortable, the natural style to the images of comfortable and delightful, and the causal style to the images of comfortable and delightful.

  • This study has a purpose that definitize correlationship of spatial structure and sales strategies in mixed-use complexes which established in Korea since year 2000. For this purpose, this study tries to analysis spatial structure of mixed-use facilities through space syntax theory and makes an typological categorization based on their space composition. As a result of categorization, Korean mixed-use facilities can be classed as three types. First type is integrated stacking type. Second one is parallel connecting type. Third type is room to room type. According to differences between categories, their spatial structures show different meaning with different sales strategies. Integrated stacking type sales luxury brands and expensive stuffs and it also has deep and complicated structure. That means theses spaces usually make a strategy of exclusion. Parallel connecting type sales special categories and it also has shallow and easy spatial structure. That means these facilities want to make a smooth connection between apposed volumes. Room to room type sales cheap and fancy objects and it also has simple and shallow structure. That means simple spatial structure can be lead contact customer to stuffs. These results mean spatial structure have a effect on design of sales space.

  • The planning of circulation area and circulation path are very important elements for layout of interior space of housing. This study is, therefore, aimed at synthetical review of that area from a functional, structural and socio-cultural point of view as well as typological analysis of that area. In the interior space of housing the networking of spaces according to the circulation route imply divers aspects of independent or dependant significances. It is thus, closely related with to whether circulation area open or closed, whether circulation path concentrated or distributed, and whether it passes Individual rooms or not. With regard to relationship with public and private spaces, there are many grounds for combining each other. This study also tried to develope program for planning of circulation system, utilizing typological analysis of them. At the same time this study suggests examples for layout of housing spaces. It is expected that the results represented In the form of systematic diagram will deserve to be a tool for providing an appropriate solution to the problem of diversity of user's needs.

  • Since countability is a grammatical notion, the distinction between count and mass nouns may not reflect countability in the real world. Based on this, Chierchia (1998a; 1998b) provides a typological study of plurality and genericity, which does not account for countability in Korean. Nemoto (2005) revises Chierchia's analysis to deal with count and mass nouns in Korean and Japanese. This study discusses problems with the previous analyses and proposes that the semantic feature of humanness is the main criterion for countability in Korean.

This study deals with single-unit Korean houses designed by modern architects, which appeared in architectural periodicals and books published since 1990. This study sets three analysis criteria : general characteristics, morphological characteristics and functional characteristics of houses. Also, the web database including analysis contents is constructed to attain various information of the houses and results. The process of constructing the web database and the search method for house information retrieval are described. It is concluded that contemporary houses show various aspects of their plans in certain specific types. By using web database we obtained various analysis on house plan. This study investigated practicality of web database in architecture, interior design and house studies, and the types of contemporary house plans are revealed as well.

  • The investigation of the apartment housing as a dwelling type has become the most important and popular research subject to understand the housing culture in Korea. In their methods of typological analysis, it is found that most studies represent each unit plan as a simplified architectural drawing. This type of typology, however, has difficulties in processing a large scale of data set because each representation of a plan contain too many informations. To deal with this problem, this study suggests a new graph-theoretical method by which apartment plans can be represented in a more simple and effective way. This new method is also tested against the sample plans from Gangnam-gu area in Seoul to reveal the design logic hidden in plan configuration. Through a series of analyses, it is verified that there exist a design strategy that guides the particular pattern of zoning and allocation of each room in the plan.
