The present study investigates the fire suppression characteristics using a water mist fire suppression system. Numerical simulations of fire suppression with water mist are performed with considering the interaction of fire plume and water droplet, droplet evaporation, and combustion of pool fire. The predicted temperature fields of smoke layer are compared with that of measured data. Numerical results agree with the experimental results within 5$^{\circ}C$ in the case without water mist In the case of fire suppression with water mist, numerical results dose not predict well lot temperature field in the gradual cooling region after water mist injection. But the predicted results of initial fire suppression are in good agreement with that of measured data. The reason of the discrepancy between predicted and measured data is due to the variation of turning rate during the injection of water mist. The effect of burning rate on the fire suppression is left as future study.
The Titanium has many superior characteristics Which are specific strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, organism compatibility, non-magnetic and etc. and their quantity are abundant this study performed turning operation of Ti-6Al-4V alloy using the TiAlN Coate Tool which treated PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition). Experimental works are also executed to measure cutting force, chip figuration and surface roughness for different cutting conditions. As a result of study. Tool wear was serious at over 100m/min of cutting speed and cutting condition was excellent at 1.0mm of cutting depth.
The present study investigates heat/mass transfer characteristics in rotating two-pass ducts of three different aspect ratios with 90-ribbed surfaces. The results show that the flows generated by the 180-turn, rib turbulators, and duct rotation. The curvature of the 180-turn produces Dean vortices causing high heat/mass transfer in the turning region and in the upstream region of the second-pass. The rib turbulators disturb the main flow by producing reattachment and separation near the ribbed surfaces, and increase heat/mass transfer in the region between the ribs. As the rotation number increases, the heat/mass transfer discrepancy between the leading and the trailing surfaces become larger.
Controller refinement scheme to improve the performance of a conventional system automatically in frequency domain is proposed. The controller automatic tuning method features using experimental frequency responses of the conventional closed-loop system the conventional controller, and the improved closed-loop system, instead of poorly modeled plant due to non-linearities and disturbances. The improved closed-loop system characteristics is automatically acquired by the conventional closed-loop system characteristics and the proposed performance index in system bandwidth. And the proper controller is realized by least squares approximation in frequency domain. To testify the usefulness of the approach, the path tracking control of robot arm is performed. Experimental results and analytic results are well-matched.
The fracture characteristics and tool life of ceramics and WC, CBN cutting tool when turning heat treated steel STD11($H_RC$ 60) were investigated experimentally to clarify the machinability and optimum tool materials in cutting of difficult-to-cut material with high hardness. Forthermore, the behaviors of the tool wear and failure were examined with regard to cutting force. The hardened steel wore the cutting tool edge rapidily and increased the cutting forces, especially radial force. The tool was worn by the abrasive action. Flank Weat of $Al_2O_3-TiC$ ceramic and WC tool become relatively large and CBN & $Al_2O_3$, ceramic tool had a long life among the tool materials tested. The tool fracture patterns were just like minor cutting wear, flank wear, crater wear, notch wear, chipping. Flank wear rate was accelerated by occurrence of chipping. During the proceeding of machining, it was possible to foresee the catastrophic fracture of tool by abrupt increase of radial force.
The purpose of this study was to classify the somatotype based on the side view and to analyze the characteristics of each somatotype. The subjects were 201 middle-aged women aged from 35 to 54. Data were collected through anthropometry and photometry and analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance, and discriminant analysis. As the result of factor analysis for the classification of somatotypes, 6 factors which explain 80.8% of variance were extracted from 35 photometric measurement. Using factor scores cluster analysis was carried out and the subjects were classified into 4 cluster Each cluster was classified as straight type, turning over type, bending type and swayback according to its position to the relative plumb line and their side view contour. And 4 somatotypes were analyzed by theirs direct anthropometric and indirect Photometric measurment to represent physical characteristics of each group.
The tilting train express (TTX) is able to tilt its body toward to the center of the turning radius on curved railways. TTX can travel at higher speed than the existing normal railway vehicles due to the tilting mechanism decreasing centrifugal force. Also, a new suspension system is required for TTX which has proper stiffness constants and damping ratios because it has different suspension characteristics with the others. Therefore, the suspension systems need to be optimized to maximize dynamic characteristic of the railway vehicle. To optimize the dynamic characteristics of TTX, sensitivity analysis should be onde to identify design variables. In this paper, Design of Experiments(DOE) is used for the sensitivity analysis of TTX.
Currently, the size of the electronic device is in the nano area. In order to control the movements of these nanoscale devices, one should be able to understand the physical phenomena in the nano area. Recently, due to carbon nanotubes and mechanical outstanding electrical conductivity and mechanical characteristics of the carbon nanotubes and Graphene behaves to apply. Efforts have been active. There are various tubes with a radius of a in a compact mass in the form of a Multi walled carbon nanotubes in different between the radius. Van der Waals force can move smoothly without friction with each other by the nanoscale motor turning, using the properties, making. This is the lightest solids per unit area on the thickness is electrical atomic layer one of the substance and the electrical conductivity, the best material and mechanical characteristics are very much. Many studies because great is the ideal nanoelectromechanical device of material is being considered. In this study, electrical resonator for a new structure proposed and the nature and methodology would like to come up.
Since carbon fiber epoxy composite materials have excellent properties for structures due to their high specific strength, high modulus, high damping and low thermal expansion, the hollow shafts made of carbon fiber epoxy composites have been widely used for power transmission shafts for motor vehicles, spindles of machine tools and rollers for film manufacturing. However, the molded composite shafts are not usually accurate enough for mechanical machine elements, which require turning or grinding of composite hollow shafts. In this paper, the grinding characteristics of composite hollow shafts, which are flexible in the radial and circumferential directions, were investiaged experimentally and analytically with respect to the stacking angle, thickness and outer diameter.
Heat transfer and performance characteristics have been investigated for a rectangular wavy duct with dimple or protrusion arrays. The test duct was 15mm in height and 105mm wide. The print diameter of the dimple/protrusion wall was 12.99mm and the depth/height of the dimple/protrusion was 3.75mm. Local heat transfer coefficients on the dimple/protrusion wall were measured using a transient TLC technique. The Reynolds number was varied from 3,000 to 10,000. For the wavy duct tested in this study, adverse static pressure characteristics occurred at turning region of the wavy duct due to secondary flows. For the wavy duct with protrusion array, higher heat transfer enhancement level of 7.4 times than smooth straight case in maximum was obtained at low Reynolds number due to the high heat transfer enhancement by vortex flows. Also, the protrusion array increased the performance level of 3.0 at low Reynolds number of 3,000.
