The impacted maxillary canine is a common problem of which all dental practitioners should be aware. The surgical orthodontic treatment of impacted canines is replaced correction position in dental arch without periodontal damage. Many treatment possibilities have been considered for this goal; window procedure, apically positioned flap, closed eruption technique and tunnel traction. Prognosis for these treatment may be very uncertain in many case(infraosseous impacted tooth). Other steps are required to achieve a satisfactory periodontal outcome. Satisfactory results could be expected if the physiologic eruption pattern is restored by tunnel traction, because permanent tooth erupts through the gingiva near the crest of the ridge so that periodontal damage is reduced. This article report that the surgical orthodontic treatment using tunnel traction is obtained proper position and reduced periodontal damage in facially impacted maxillary canines.
In order to develop the deep-underground GTX (Great Train eXpress) in domestic, the running performance analysis of the propulsion system by a variety of route condition must be carried out before studying the specification and the development of the high-speed propulsion system with inverter and traction motor. Then it is necessary to study the running resistance properties of the high-speed traction system for the variety of tunnel type and vehicle organization method at first. In addition, the properties of the power requirement of the traction motors needed to maintain the balanced speed of the high-speed traction system are next studied. We need to study properties of the emergency braking distance caused by the highest operation speed of the high-speed traction system and present the fundamental design technologies to develop the high-speed traction system for the deep-underground GTX. Finally, the paper analyzes the applicability of the conventional Korean Tilting Train eXpress (TTX) propulsion system on the high-speed propulsion system for the deep-underground GTX.
In order to develop a deep-underground great train express (GTX) in South Korea, the specifications decision and development of a traction control system (including an inverter and a traction motor), which considers a variety of route conditions, must be advanced. In this study, we examined the running resistance properties of a high-speed traction system based on a variety of tunnel types and vehicle organization methods. Then, we studied the power requirements necessary for the traction motor to maintain balanced speed in the high-speed traction system. From this, we determined the design criteria for the development of a high-speed traction system for use in the deep-underground GTX. Finally, we designed a linear induction motor (LIM) for a propulsion system, and we used the finite element method (FEM) to analyze its performance as it travelled through deep-underground tunnels.
The maximum speed of high-speed rail is restricted to various factors such as track condition including slope and radius, tunnel and dynamic stability of vehicle. Among the various factors, traction effort and resistance to motion is principal and basic factor. In addition, at high speed over 300km/h, aerodynamic drag amounts up to 80% of resistance to motion, that it can be said that aerodynamic drag is the most important factor to decide the maximum speed of high-speed rail system. This paper deals with a measure to increase the maximum speed of high-speed train by reducing aerodynamic drag. The traction effort curve and resistance to motion curve of existing high-speed train under development has been employed to set up the target of aerodynamic drag reduction to reach up to 500km/h without modification traction system. In addition, the contribution of various sources of aerodynamic drag to total value has been analyzed and the strategy for implementation of aerodynamic drag reduction has been discussed based on the aerodynamic simulation results around the train using computational fluid dynamics.
Purpose: Regardless of potential and actual complications, the sesamoidectomy either tibial side or fibular side or both, had been used as a surgical option for various pathologic conditions. The objective of this cadaveric study was to identify the changes of range of motion of great toe after sesamoidectomy. Material and Methods: Eight fresh cadaver legs were used. The angular changes of the hallucal articulations were measured by traction of the flexor hallucis longus tendon at the proximal border of fibro-osseous tarsal tunnel and by traction of the extensor hallucis longus tendon at the superior border of inferior extensor retinaculum. The measurement started at neutral position and proceeded to the maximum for respective tendons. After sesamoidectomy either partial or total, same procedures were repeated and the angular changes were measured. Results: In flexion of great toe, there were significant metatarsophalangeal angular differences at 1 cm traction in total sesamoidectomy and lateral sesamoidectomy. In extension of great toe, there were significant metatarsophalangeal angular differences at more than 2 cm traction in total sesamoidectomy. In other measurements, there were no significant angular changes of the hallucal articulations. Conclusion: The sesamoidectomy resulted in change of motion of great toe. Statistical analysis showed that the significant increases in the initial flexion and maximal extension occurred with total sesamoidectomy and the significant increase in the initial flexion occurred with lateral sesamoidectomy.
High-speed trains have been developed widely in European countries and Japan in order to transport large quantity of people and commodities in short time. Additionally, a high speed train is one of the most desirable and environmentally friendly transportation methods. When a high speed train enters a tunnel, aerodynamic resistance is generated suddenly. This resistance causes micro pressure wave and discomfort to passengers. Due to this aerodynamic pressure against the train, a large amount of traction is required for the operation of a train in a tunnel. Therefore, it is essential to incorporate a pressure relief system in a tunnel in order to reduce aerodynamic resistance caused by a high-speed train. A pressure relief duct and a vertical shaft are representative measures in a tunnel. This study represents the effect of pressure relief ducts in order to alleviate positive and negative normal pressures acting on a train. One-dimensional numerical simulations were carried out in order to estimate the effect of pressure relief systems.
Purpose: We introduce arthroscopically assisted mini-open rotator cuff repair using anterolateral approach. Operative Technique: Placing lateral decubitus position on general anesthesia, a standard arthroscopic glenohumeral examination is performed to evaluate lesions of shoulder joint through posterior and anterior portal. And then arthroscope is placed in the subacromial space and we evaluate the size of the torn tendon and perform arthroscopic acromioplasty through lateral portal. A 3 to 4 cm skin incision is performed from anterolateral edge of acromion to distal and dissected along to raphe between anterior and middle deltoid. A deltoid retractor is then placed, allowing direct visualization of the rotator cuff and humeral head. As torn tendon is tagged by traction suture, we try to anatomical reduction on the footprint and then perform single row or double row repair of the rotator cuff using suture anchors. To prevent avulsion of the deltoid from the acromion, additional sutures by bone tunnel with acromion and deltoid is performed. Conclusion: This technique is useful procedure to get direct approach to anterior portion of supraspinatus tendon and to need lesser deltoid retraction than portal extension approach due to dividing along to raphe between anterior and middle deltoid. Also it provide better visualization of the superior portion of subscapularis and infraspinatus.
