Littman 및 Littrow 타입 파장가변 반도체 레이저의 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Construction of Littman and Littrow Type Tunable Diode Laser Systems)

  • 홀버닝 광메모리의 광원으로서 상용 반도체 레이저 다이오드에 Littman형 및 고정방향 Littrow형 외부공진기를 결합하여 파장가변 레이저 다이오드 시스템을 제작하고 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 두 형태의 파장가변 레이저 다이오드 시스템 모두 0차 출력광은 단일종모드로 동작하며 CFP(Confocal Fabry-Perot)의 분해능인 9MHz이내의 선폭을 예상할 수 있었으며 다이오드 구동전류 140mA 및 동작 온도 $25^{\circ}C$의 조건하에서 거울 및 회절격자를 수동나사로 회전시키는 성긴 튜닝시 Littman형은 5.375nm, 고정방향 Littrow형은 13.65 nm이상의 파장가변 범위를 보였고 PZT (Piezoelectric Transducer)에 200Hz의 톱니파 전압을 인가해서 거울을 회전시키는 미세 튜닝 시 두 형태 모두 0.042nm의 범위 내에서 연속적인 파장가변이 가능하였다. 특히 고정방향 Littrow형 외부공진기는 출력광의 방향이 바뀌는 기존의 단점을 보강하였으며, 또한 외부공진기의 길이에 따른 최대파장가변 범위를 측정하였다.

상하 결합 마이크로스트립 공진기를 이용한 광대역 저 위상 잡음 전압제어발진기 (Wideband and tow Phase Noise Voltage Controlled Oscillator Using a Broadside Coupled Microstrip Resonator)

  • 본 논문에서는 낮은 위상잡음 특성과 넓은 주파수 가변을 갖는 새로운 전압제어 발진기의 구조를 제안한다. 제한한 구조는 서셉턴스 기울기 파라미터를 높이기 위해 임피던스 변환기를 이용하여 직렬 공진 회로를 병렬 공진 회로로 변환하는 방법을 사용하고 있다. 제작한 전압제어발진기는 0V$\sim$9V 가변전압으로 10.1GHz$\sim$10.7GHz의 600MHz 주파수 가변과 -119dBc/Hz@1MHz 이하의 우수한 위상잡음 특성을 보인다. 측정된 고조파 억압특성은 28dB이상이다.

  • In this study, a systematic and effective tuning method of the actuator control parameters of the control loading system for aircraft based on control theory is presented. Firstly, to raise the time response of the system, the proportional gain and the integral gain of the velocity control loop is maximized within the range where vibration and noise does not occur. And then the position control loop is composed by getting the transfer function of the control loading system including the velocity control loop. With the root locus of the composed position control loop, the proportional gain of the position control loop that keeps stable transient state and leads good time response of the system is predicted, and the simulations are performed by using the predicted gain. Lastly, the actuator control parameters of actual control loading system are set to the previously obtained gain values. And the experiments to actuate the control loading system are executed. It shows that the tuning method of the actuator control parameter proposed in this study is applied to actual control loading system very well by comparing the results of the experiments with those of the simulations.

Real-Coded Genetic Algorithm Based Design and Analysis of an Auto-Tuning Fuzzy Logic PSS

  • One important issue in power systems is dynamic instability due to loosing balance relation between electrical generation and a varying load demand that justifies the necessity of stabilization. Moreover, Power System Stabilizer (PSS) must have capability of producing appropriate stabilizing signals over a wide range of operating conditions and disturbances. To overcome these drawbacks, this paper proposes a new method for robust design of PSS by using an auto-tuning fuzzy control in combination with Real-Coded Genetic Algorithm (RCGA). This method includes two fuzzy controllers; internal fuzzy controller and supervisor fuzzy controller. The supervisor controller tunes the internal one by on-line applying of nonlinear scaling factors to inputs and outputs. The RCGA-based method is used for off-line training of this supervisor controller. The proposed PSS is tested in three operational conditions; nominal load, heavy load, and in the case of fault occurrence in transmission line. The simulation results are provided to compare the proposed PSS with conventional fuzzy PSS and conventional PSS. By evaluating the simulation results, it is shown that the performance and robustness of proposed PSS in different operating conditions is more acceptable

Comparison of Effectiveness for Performance Tuning of Liquid Rocket Engine

  • An analysis has been made on the performance variation due to pressure drop change at propellant supply pipes of liquid rocket engine. The objective is to compare the effectiveness of control variables to tune the liquid rocket engine performance. The mode analysis program has been used to estimate the engine performance for different modes which is realized by controlling the flow rate of propellant. The oxidizer of combustion chamber, the fuel of combustion chamber, the oxidizer of gas generator and the fuel of gas generator are the independent variables to control engine thrust, engine mixture ratio and temperature of gas generator product gas. The analysis program is validated by comparing with the powerpack test results. The error range of compared variables is order of 4%. After comparison of tuning effectiveness it is turned out that the pressure drop at oxidizer pipe of gas generator and pressure drop at combustion chamber fuel pipe and the pressure drop at the fuel pipe of gas generator can effectively tune the thrust of engine, mixture ratio of engine and temperature of product gas from gas generator respectively.

Low-Voltage Tunable Pseudo-Differential Transconductor with High Linearity

  • A novel tunable transconductor is presented. Input transistors operate in the triode region to achieve programmable voltage-to-current conversion. These transistors are kept in the triode region by a novel negative feedback loop which features simplicity, low voltage requirements, and high output resistance. A linearity analysis is carried out which demonstrates how the proposed transconductance tuning scheme leads to high linearity in a wide transconductance range. Measurement results for a 0.5 ${\mu}m$ CMOS implementation of the transconductor show a transconductance tuning range of more than a decade (15 ${\mu}A/V$ to 165 ${\mu}A/V$) and a total harmonic distortion of -67 dB at 1 MHz for an input of 1 Vpp and a supply voltage of 1.8 V.

A Low Phase Noise 5.5-GHz SiGe VCO Having 10% Bandwidth

  • A bandwidth-enhanced and phase noise-improved differential LC-tank VCO is proposed in this paper. By connecting the varactors to the bases of the cross-coupled transistors of the proposed LC-tank VCO, its input negative resistance has been widened. Also, the feedback capacitor Cc in the cross-coupling path of the proposed LC-tank VCO attenuates the output common-mode level modulated by the low-frequency noise because the modulated common-mode level jitters the varactor bias point and degrades phase noise. Compared with the fabricated conventional LC-tank VCO, the proposed LC-tank VCO demonstrates $200\;\%$ enhancement in tuning range, and 6 - dB improvement in phase noise at 6 MHz offset frequency from 5.4-GHz carrier. We achieved the phase noise of - 106 dBc/Hz at 6 MHz offset, and $10\;\%$ tuning range from the proposed LC-tank VCO. The proposed LC-tank VCO consumes 12 mA at 2.5 V supply voltage.

Efficiency Enhancement of Wireless Power Transfer with Optimum Coupling Mechanism for Mid-range Operation

  • This paper depicts the design, implementation and analysis of efficient resonant based wireless power transfer (WPT) technique using three magnetic coupled coils. This work is suitable for mid ranged device due to small form factor while minimizing the loading effect. A multi turned loop size resonator is exploited for both the transmitter and receiver for longer distance. In this paper, class-E power amplifier (class-E PA) is introduced with an optimum power tracking mechanism of WPT system to enhance the power capability at mid-range with a flat gain. A robust method of finding optimum distance is derived with an experimental analysis of the designed system. In this method, the load sensitive issue of WPT is resolved by tuning coupling coefficient at considerable distances. Our designed PA with a drain efficiency of 77.8% for a maximum output of 5W is used with adopted tuning technique that improves the overall WPT system performance by 3 dB at various operating points.

  • 도파관형 건 발진기의 발진주파수 범위와 주파수 안정도는 공진기 치수에 따른 임피던스에 민감하다. 그러므로 HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator)을 이용하여 공진기의 치수에 따른 임베딩 임피던스 (embedding impedance)를 계산하였다. 본 논문에서는 주파수 함수를 갖는 Q-band (33 ∼ 50 GHz) 건 발진기의 임베딩 임피던스의 이론적인 결과와 실제 제작한 발진기의 실험측정 결과를 비교하여 이론적 해석의 타당성을 검증하였다. 그리고 본 논문에서 제시한 방법에 의한 이론적 해석만으로 발진주파수 범위를 예상할 수 있음을 확인하였다

코오스와 파인 조정을 위한 다이나믹 주파수 스케일링 기법을 사용하는 CMOS 듀티 사이클 보정 회로 (A CMOS Duty Cycle Corrector Using Dynamic Frequency Scaling for Coarse and Fine Tuning Adjustment)

  • 본 논문에서는 다이나믹 주파수 스케일링 (DFS) 카운터를 사용하여 코오스, 파인 조정 기능을 갖는 CMOS 듀티 사이클 보정회로를 제시한다. DFS 카운터는 디지털-아날로그 컨버터의 비트 스위칭 글리치를 감소시키기 때문에 제안하는 CMOS 듀티 사이클 보정회로의 듀티 보정 범위를 증가시키고 지터 특성을 개선한다. 제안하는 회로는 0.18-${\mu}m$ CMOS 공정을 이용하여 설계되었다. 0.5-1.5GHz의 넓은 동작 주파수와 25-75%의 넓은 듀티 사이클 보정 범위 내에서 측정된 최대 출력 듀티 사이클 에러는 ${\pm}1.1%$이다.
