The Behavior of Local Buckling for Steel Circular Tubes Subject to Cyclic Axial Loads (반복 축하중을 받아 국부좌굴을 수반하는 원형강관 부재의 복원력 특성)

  • In this paper, we work with steel circular tubes and propose analysis model which can consider local buckling that it has an effect on failure of steel structures and induce the relation between loading and deformation. First of all, in respect to axial symmetry local buckling, which is simplest case, elasto-plastic behavior acting only axial loads is object Therefore, it suggests analysis model for axial symmetry local buckling. And that is explainable the process from increasing internal force to decreasing passing maximum internal force. Besides, we induce the relation between the axial force and axial deformation.

Numerical Simulation of Plate Finned-Tubes Condenser (평판휜-관 응축기의 수치 시뮬레이션)

  • A simulation program of the plate finned-tubes condenser widely used in the air conditioning system was developed. The program took into account the variations of the flow properties and fluid friction factor of refrigerant, and the heat transfer coefficients of refrigerant and air sides. The program was applied to a copper tube condenser which has outside diameter of 10.05mm, inside diameter of 9.35mm, length of 5.20m and three rows arraied staggered. Simulation results were such that refrigerant was super-heated state from the entrance to the 0.14m point, two-phase flow from the 0.14m point to the 4.10m point, sub-cooled state from the 4.10m point to the outlet. The degree of sub-cooled was $6.1^{\circ}C$. The variations of refrigerant quality, temperature, pressure, velocity, specific enthalpy, specific volume and air temperature, tube temperature were showed.

Determination of Tungsten Target Parameters for Transmission X-ray Tube: A Simulation Study Using Geant4

  • Transmission X-ray tubes based on carbon nanotube have attracted significant attention recently. In most of these tubes, tungsten is used as the target material. In this article, the well-known simulator Geant4 was used to obtain some of the tungsten target parameters. The optimal thickness for maximum production of usable X-rays when the target is exposed to electron beams of different energies was obtained. The linear variation of optimal thickness of the target for different electron energies was also obtained. The data obtained in this study can be used to design X-ray tubes. A beryllium window was considered for the X-ray tube. The X-ray energy spectra at the moment of production and after passing through the target and window for different electron energies in the 30-110 keV range were also obtained. The results obtained show that with a specific thickness, the target material itself can act as filter, which enables generation of X-rays with a limited energy.

  • 현재 발파의 수행은 채석, 채굴 및 지하철과 도로, 건축, 토목공사 등 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 이에 따라 발파특성의 연구와 관련하여 다양한 이론이 도출되고 있고 사용되지만 발파에 의한 공해인 진동 및 소음의 문제가 대두되면서 또한 이들의 취약점을 보완하기 위해 다양한 공법들이 시행되고 개선되어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 발파공법과 Air tubes를 이용한 발파공법을 비교하므로 화약의 사용량을 보다 감소시키고, 기존 전색의 길이를 줄이므로 폭약의 투사면적을 증대시켜 진동 및 폭음을 감소시키고 상대적으로 양호한 파쇄입도를 얻고 상부의 대괴를 최소화하는데 목적이 있다. 따라서 발생하는 진동 및 발파폭음을 크게 감소시킬 수 있으므로 기존 노천발파 및 진동, 소음에 민감한 도심지 발파에서 그 이점을 활용하여 보다 안전적이고 경제적인 발파작업을 수행하는데 연구의 목적이 있다.

  • Recently power plants and oil refineries are focusing on capacity enlargement for better efficiency through higher temperature and higher pressure. Thickness of boiler tubes becomes lessened due to oxidation and erasion caused by high temperature bums gas flowing over tubes outside. Accordingly, mechanical stress of tubes is increasing and that is a critical factor to make a crack and fracture. To prevent those sorts of accidents, aging assessment for proper periodic repair and replacement should be conducted reliably and reasonably. We performed IIT test on Cr-Mo steel, one of the most heat-resistant materials for facilities in power plants, and we report the test result and the considerable effectiveness of IIT test.

  • A circular tube undergoes bucking behavior when it is subjected to axial loading. An upper bound analysis can be an attractive approach to predict the buckling load and energy absorption efficiently. The upper bound analysis obtains the load or energy absorption by means of assumption of the kinematically admissible velocity fields. In order to obtain an accurate solution, kinematically admissible velocity fields should be defined by considering many factors such as geometrical parameters, dynamic effect, etc. In this study, experiments and finite element analyses are carried out for circular tubes with various dimensions and loading conditions. As a result, the kinematically admissible velocity field is newly proposed in order to consider various dimensions and the strain rate effect of material. The upper bound analysis with the suggested velocity field accurately estimates the mean load and energy absorption obtained from results of experiment and finite element analysis.

  • This paper deals with the development of simulation model for the horizontal launch at submarines in the preliminary design phase. The simulation model is composed of submarine motion model, cross flow force model in the bow of submarine, and weapon motion model In launch through torpedo tubes. Using submarine and weapon characteristics and simulation condition, it can simulate the exit velocity of weapon through torpedo tubes and reaction forces. It should be helpful for the analysis of the safe launch and design requirements in the preliminary design phase of a submarine or a weapon launched through torpedo tubes.

  • Finite element analysis was carried out to investigate the integrity and reliability of boiler module during sea transportation. The boiler module was supported by steel structure to relieve the instantaneous shock from oceanic wave and its primary parts were strengthened with several reinforcements. Finned tube walls which were used in the furnace wall were assumed as orthotropic plates having equivalent material properties. The bank tubes were also equivalently modeled in accordance with ASME B31.1 for the convenience of finite element modeling. The calculation results were compared with the yield stress of the material. In particular, the bank tube stress, which was evaluated by converting the calculated stresses in equivalent tubes into those in original tubes by using the ratio of diameter, was also examined with yield stress.

  • This research was concerned with the enhancement of heat transfer by surfactant added to the aqueous solution of LiBr. Different horizontal tubes were tested with and without an additive of normal octyl alcohol. The test tubes were a bare tube, floral tube, hydrophilic tube. The additive concentration was about $0.05{\sim}5.5mass%$. The heat transfer coefficient was measured as a function of solution flow rate in the range of $0.01{\sim}0.034 kg/ms$. The experimental result were compared with cases without surfactant. The enhancement of heat transfer by Marangoni convection effect which was generated by addition of the surfactant is observed in each test tube.

  • Heating floor is the most profitable system of air heating at poultry houses. THe tubes with heating elements inside are laid into the layer of concrete. To prevent lossese of heat penetration deep into the ground the layer of isolation material is laid below the tubes . The depth of isolation laying in every point of the heating floor may be calculated according to the author's formula using the data of temperature on the floor surface and the tube, the distance between tow nearest tubes, and the distance between the tube and the floor surface. Technological investigations allow to estimate the optimal density for greese and ducks when they are bred on the heatuing floor.
