난성형부품의 성형공정개발을 위한 디지털트라이아웃 (Digital Tryout Technique for the Conventional Stamping Process of Hard-to-Form Parts)

  • A tryout is a series of process optimization for robust stamping before transfer to the press shop. During tryout, the drawbead control, blank shape determination, binder surface modification, etc., are carried out mainly by a trial-and-error approach. As the level of difficulty of the stamping process increases, the formability becomes more sensitive to the contour of deformed shape, i.e. the blank shape. A digital tryout technique, which simulates a real tryout process, is proposed in this study for challenging stamping processes. Since digital tryout is carried out on a desktop, not in a press shop, a precise control of the deformed contour can be achieved if an optimal blank design technique is utilized. In this work, the proposed digital tryout technique is validated by successful applications to different automotive parts.

  • A tryout is one of the most important process in development and production of dies. For automotive press dies, it takes 3 to 4 months during the vehicle development process. Moreover, useful information and knowledge from tryout process is very important to design and production planning of dies. In this paper, we developed a new supporting system for making and managing tryout reports of an automotive press die. The CBDTS(Case-Based reasoning for Die Tryout report System) was developed and applied using case-based reasoning method in order to reduce time and manage knowledge of tryout. It consists of "Class Retrieval Wizard", "Case Cleansing Module", and "Case Viewer." Also, this CBDTS could be a channel to integrate field information with enterprise-wide information management systems as well. The CBDTS was applied to a Korean automotive press die shop, and the results were very satisfied in both quantitative and qualitative manners.

  • In these days, automotive companies are trying to develop new manufacturing technologies and paradigms for rapid product development and production. The press die development process account for 40% of entire vehicle development process, and tryout process usually takes 3 to 4 months, and it is the biggest time portion out of dies manufacturing. Therefore, the effective tryout management system is essential to reduce time and cost of automotive press die production. This paper suggests improved process and practical application of tryout management using ubiquitous technology, and shows the results such as shorten time, improved quality and supporting of lifecycle engineering of press die.

  • In order to prevent the defects, the optimum design of the production part, strip process layout, die design, die making and try out etc. are necessary the analysis of effective factors. For example, theory and practice of metal shearing process and it's phenomena, die structure, machine tool working for die making, die materials and it's heat treatment, metal working in field, their know how etc. are included in those factors. In this study, we analyzed whole of data base, theoretical back ground of metal working process, and then performed the progressive die tryout with the screw press. Part2 of this study reveals with ultra precision progressive die design, its making and tryout.

  • Ultra precision progressive die have used for above one million's lot size of production part. In the field of design and making tool for press working, the progressive die for sheet metal (STS 304, thickness : 0.5mm) is a specific division. In order to prevent the defects, the optimum design of the production part, strip layout, die design, die making and tryout etc. are necessary. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, i.e. theory and practice of metal press working and its phenomena, die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die component, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and constructed a progressive die of multi-stage and performed try out. Out of these processes the die development could be taken for advance. Especially the result of tryout and its analysis become the characteristics of this paper (part 1 and part 2) that nothing might be ever seen before such as this type of research method on all the processes. In the part 2 of this study we treated die making and tryout mostly.

In the field of design and making tool for press working, the progressive die for sheet metal (SPC, thickness : 2mm) is a specific division. In order to prevent the defects, the optimum design of the U-bending production part, strip layout, die design, die making and tryout etc. are necessary. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, i.e. theory and practice of metal pres working and its phenomena, die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die component, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and constructed a progressive die of multi-stage and performed try out. Out of these processes the die development could be taken for advance. 가상 트라이아웃을 이용한 소음기 케이스 성형에 관한 연구 (A Study on Forming of Silencer Case Using Virtual Tryout Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 가상 트라이아웃 방식을 이용하여 소음기 케이스의 성형에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저 사각 블랭크로부터 성형 중 변형이 일어나지 않는 부분을 코너컷하여 적정 블랭크를 설계하였고 파이프 삽입부와 어깨 반경부에 발생하는 주름을 방지하기 위해 적정 드로비드를 설계하였다. 마지막으로 파이프 삽입부 주위에 발생하는 주름과 파단을 방지하기 위해 형상비드를 설계하였다. 가상트라이 아웃방식으로 결정된 성형조건에 따라 소음기 케이스의 시제품을 제작하고 해석결과와 비교한 결과 시제품의 성형성, 두께 분포 등이 해석 결과와 잘 일치함을 알 수 있었다.
