  • In IT service quality research, the relationship between the service quality and clients' satisfaction was the focus of many studies while in relationship quality research, the influence of trust and conflict on relationship commitment seems to be the focus. In this study, these two research streams are integrated and a theoretical research model is proposed consisting of IT service quality, satisfaction, trust and relationship commitment with conflict as a moderator for the overall psychological mechanism. As satisfaction represents emotional response while trust cognitive response, this research model integrated both emotional and cognitive aspects of relationship maintenance in the IT service context. Analysis of data collected from 262 employees of global IT service firm revealed the differential effects of reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy on satisfaction and trust. Also, depending upon the level of conflict, the effects of reliability and assurance were found to be moderated. Further analysis revealed more profound mechanism at work relating emotional and cognitive aspects in the psychology of relationship maintenance in IT service context. Practical implications are further discussed in the conclusion.

  • NFPs support a sustainable society and they rely on contributions from donors. Donor behavior is a kind of consumer behavior that influences fundraising by NFPs. In order to make fundraising functional under a principal-agent relationship, NFPs must construct trust through proper provision of accounting information. For donors, financial statements are main source of accounting information. Edelman revealed that the level of trust in Japan's NFPs is the lowest in East Asia, because of a lack of transparency and accountability. Some researchers had investigated donor behavior as a kind of consumer behavior and had provided supportive results that accounting information influences donor behaviors, before this research was conducted. This research investigates this background by conducting questionnaire-based survey. Main questions of this questionnaire were created according to criteria that BBB are using for NFPs in the U.S. The results of this survey revealed the lack of reliability of basic accounting information in Japan and that education in higher educational institutions can improve this situation. This survey also revealed that a rating agency like BBB, which evaluates accounting information of NFPs, could improve trust on NFPs. The implications of this study can apply to the other countries and regions where trust in NFPs is insufficient.

  • This study has analyzed the interrelation between transformational leadership (TL) and organizational commitment (OC) so as to verify the mediating effect of their trust on OC, finding that charisma and intellectual stimulus have a significant effect on affective and continuous commitment. This finding is different from any existing arguments where the charisma of TL and the individual consideration are said to have a significant and positive effect on affective and continuous commitment. Furthermore, the mediating effect, which was expected to be highly relevant on the grounds of the findings of previous researches that any high trust of a leader would lead to a high level of OC of members, has been revealed as a complete mediation in the relationship of emotional trust between individual consideration and OC, which shows that the correlation between TL and OC may vary depending on the characteristics of an organization and its members both of which are sample objects. This study, unlike most previous researches with their research samples in industrial fields, has estimated the growing interrelation of NGOs. Therefore, while this study itself may have its research-limit of specificity, it is expected to make a useful contribution to any future researches of the same category.

  • With the emergence of partnerships with private actors in public and cultural diplomacies, complexity in the relations among the various stakeholders involved has arisen, and yet the relevant research is insufficient to shed any beneficial light on such issues. By looking at public-private partnerships, the present study determined that resource dependence, trust, and risk are the main factors affecting the feasibility of partnerships, and inductively developed propositions on their effects. In an explorative case study, Germany (decentralized mode of governance) and South Korea (centralized mode of governance) were compared as exemplary contrasting system designs. The results revealed that risk and trust are likely to affect the feasibility of partnerships, whereas resource dependence is not. The following additional findings also were made: (1) there are cultural actors in a 'for profit, but with non-profit purposes' sector; (2) an interpersonal level of trust positively affects partnerships; (3) 'taking risks' brings about 'innovation'; (4) the existence of international commonalities between any two cases depending on the actors' shared role, whether public or private; (5) public actors' emphasis on mutual trust, program budget and execution, innovations coming from taking risks, commitment and ownership, and unexpected situations; (6) private actors' consideration of 'publicness' and grant-seeking or financial support as important incentives, and their desire that public actors to show more trust, professionalism, and ownership with less control over budget execution. With its qualitative approach and in-depth analysis, the present study yielded new insights, notwithstanding the relatively small sample data.

  • In an open, heterogeneous environment based on machine-to-machine (M2M) interactions, service selection is a critical issue and the concept of social trust can be applied to service selection so that IoT devices can make the best choice for interaction. In this paper, we propose a method for evaluating the trust level of the service and for estimating the QoS of the composite service using a profile created based on social trust relationship in IoT environment. As the service selection is made through quantitative evaluation, it is expected that the result of a more reliable service combination can be obtained.
