To achieve appropriate stresses, two new rectangular elements are presented in this study. For reaching this aim, a complementary energy functional is used within an element for the analysis of plane problems. In this energy form, the Airy stress function will be used as a functional variable. Besides, some basic analytical solutions are found for the stress functions. These trial functions are matched with each element number of degrees of freedom, which leads to a number of equations with the anonymous constants. Subsequently, according to the principle of minimum complementary energy, the unknown constants can be expressed in terms of displacements. This system can be rewritten in terms of the nodal displacement. In this way, two new hybrid-rectangular triangular elements are formulated, which have 16 and 40 degrees of freedom. To validate the outcomes, extensive numerical studies are performed. All findings clearly demonstrate accuracies of structural displacements, as well as, stresses.

In this paper, a study is made of the steady laminar free convection boundary-layer equations on a sphere with uniform surface heat flux. To solve the boundary-layer equations, well-known Pohlhausen's simiarity solution for vertical plates is adopted just the same for spherical bodies by introducing twonondimensional parametric functions, so called azimuth functions. To determine the values of the azimuth functions which are expressed in series at the two points (the upper stagnation point and the equator), trial and error method is required. It is concluded that the heat transfer results are in good agreement with obtained from perturbation method and Von Karman-Pohlhausen method within the steady laminar free convection region for Pr=0.70.
The obstacle shape reconstruction problem has been known to be difficult to solve since it is highly nonlinear and severely ill-posed. The use of local or locally supported basis functions for the problem has been addressed for many years. However, to the authors' knowledge, any research report on the proper usage of local or locally supported basis functions for the shape reconstruction has not been appeared in the literature due to many difficulties. The aim of this paper is to introduce the general concepts and methodologies for the proper choice and their implementation of locally supported basis functions through the two-dimensional Helmholtz equation. The implementations are based on the complex nonlinear parameter estimation (CNPE) formula and its robust algorithm developed recently by the authors. The basic concepts and ideas are simple. The derivation of the necessary properties needed for the shape reconstructions are elementary. However, the capturing abilities for the local geometry of the obstacle are superior to those by conventional methods, the trial and errors, due to the proper implementation and the CNPE algorithm. Several numerical experiments are performed to show the power of the proposed method. The fundamental ideas and methodologies described in this paper can be applied to many other shape reconstruction problems.
Objective: Reacquisition of motor functions following stroke depends on interhemispheric neural connections. The intervention highlighted in the present case is an insight for augmenting motor recovery by stimulating the lesioned area and adjacent areas governing the motor behaviour of an individual. The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in the motor and cognitive outcomes through multi target stimulation of cortical areas by application of multichannel transcranial direct current stimulation (M-tDCS) in a stroke survivor. Design: A case report. Methods: The patient was a participant of a trial registered with the clinical trial registry of India (CTRI/2020/01/022998). The patient was intervened with M-tDCS over the left primary motor cortex i.e. C3 point and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex i.e. F3 point with 0.5-2 mA intensity for the period of 20 minutes. SaeboFlex-assisted task-oriented training, functional electrical stimulation over the lower extremity (LE) to elicit dorsiflexion at the ankle and eversion of the foot, and conventional physiotherapy rehabilitation including a tailored exercise program were performed. Outcome assessment was done using the Fugl-Meyer assessment scale (FMA) for the upper and lower extremity (UE and LE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), Wisconsin Gait Scale (WGS) and the Stroke Specific Quality of Life (SSQOL) measures. Assessment was taken at Day 0, 15 and 30 post intervention. Results: Improvement was observed in all the outcome measures i.e FMA (UE and LE), MOCA, SSQOL and WGS across the span of 4 weeks. Conclusions: M-tDCS induced improvement in motor functions of the UE and LE, gait parameters and cognitive functions of the patient.
When burying underwater cables using robots, heading control is one of the key functions for the robots to improve task efficiency. This paper addresses the heading control issue for URI-T, an ROV for underwater construction tasks, including the burial and maintenance of cables or small diameter pipelines. Through modeling and identifying the heading motion of URI-T, the dynamic characteristics and input limitation are analyzed. Based on the identification results, a PD type controller with appropriate input treatment is designed for the heading control of URI-T. The performance of the heading controller was verified in water tank experiments. The field applicability of the proposed controller was also evaluated through the sea trial of URI-T at the East Sea, with a water depth of 500 m.
Fiber optics provide a solution to the problems at interference, capacity and reliability in communication. Approximately 20 kilometera of a six-fiber, multimode, longwave($1.3{\mu}m$), graded index silica glass fiber optic cable was helically wrapped around a phase conductor at a Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) 154KV transmission line. This paper presents an economic comparison of several fiber optic cable installation alternative and discusses the characteristics at the helically wrapped fiber cable, as well as the entire installation, including high voltage phase-to-ground (PTG) end termination, and splicing. The fiber link was installed for the field trial and practical use with overhead composite optical fiber cable which installation performed a few years earlier some other location and is intended to accommodate not only telephone but also supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA), protective relaying, and telemetry functions.

A new design scheme for the fuzzy pattern matching classifier (FPMC) is proposed. in conventional design of FPMC, there are no exact information about the membership function of which shape and number critically affect the performance of classifier. So far, a trial and error or heuristic method is used to find membership functions for the input patterns. But each of them have limits in its application to the various types of pattern recognition problem. In this paper, a new method to find the appropriate shape and number of membership functions for the input patterns which minimize classification error is proposed using genetic algorithms(GAs). Genetic algorithms belong to a class of stochastic algorithms based on biological models of evolution. They have been applied to many function optimization problems and shown to find optimal or near optimal solutions. In this paper, GAs are used to find the appropriate shape and number of membership functions based on fitness function which is inversely proportional to classification error. The strings in GAs determine the membership functions and recognition results using these membership functions affect reproduction of next generation in GAs. The proposed design scheme is applied to the several patterns such as tire tread patterns and handwritten alphabetic characters. Experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed scheme.
The mixed-mode stress intensity factors of 2-D angled cracks are evaluated by Petrov-Galerkin natural element (PG-NE) method in which Voronoi polygon-based Laplace interpolation functions and CS-FE basis functions are used for the trial and test functions respectively. The interaction integral is implemented in a frame of PG-NE method in which the weighting function defined over a crack-tip integral domain is interpolated by Laplace interpolation functions. Two Cartesian coordinate systems are employed and the displacement, strains and stresses which are solved in the grid-oriented coordinate system are transformed to the other coordinate system aligned to the angled crack. The present method is validated through the numerical experiments with the angled edge and center cracks, and the numerical accuracy is examined with respect to the grid density, crack length and angle. Also, the stress intensity factors obtained by the present method are compared with other numerical methods and the exact solution. It is observed from the numerical results that the present method successfully and accurately evaluates the mixed-mode stress intensity factors of 2-D angled cracks for various crack lengths and crack angles.
Background: In physical activity or labor, the human body is in a state of high intensity stress, and all parts or physiological functions of the body respond positively to maintain or balance the need for movement. The human body has many physiological changes in the process of movement, and fatigue is the external manifestation of various complex changes inside the human body. Fatigue is also a physiological mechanism of self-protection after the body reaches a certain level of activity, which can prevent the occurrence of life-threatening excessive functional failure. The generation of fatigue is a very complex process, and its mechanism has not been concluded yet. Therefore, it is an important work to search and screen the effective components of natural plants that have anti-fatigue effect and to explore their mechanism. Methods: This was a 8-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial. A total of 110 subjects who passed physical examination were included according to the scheme design, and randomly divided into a test group which was given KRG and a placebo control group. The calculation is carried out according to the standard of sub-high-intensity exercise test. Results: There was no adverse effect on safety index of subjects after taking red ginseng capsule. After KRG treatment, subjective strength grade is significant lower than placebo treatment. Blood lactic acid content is significantly get lower after trial in KRG group, and significant lower than placebo group. Creatine phosphokinase(CK) content is significantly get lower after trial in KRG group, and significant lower than placebo group. Conclusion: According to the criterion in the test scheme, the result shows that KRG is helpful on relieving physical fatigue.
The general solution for two-dimensional magneto-electro-elastic media in terms of four harmonic displacement functions is proposed analytically. The expressions of specific solutions of magneto-electro-elastic plane problems with specific body forces are derived. Finally, based on the general solution in the case of distinct eigenvalues and the specific solution for density functionally gradient media, two kinds of beam problems with body forces depending only on the z or x coordinate are solved by the trial-and-error method.
