The results were as follows. First, STEAM education has been increasing in the past couple of years and gifted and talented education took up relatively high proportion of it. This demonstrates that gifted education closely related to creative and versatile individuals plays a leading role in STEAM education. Second, researches on STEAM education and STEAM education for the gifted targeted elementary school students the most. Third, researches on the development of STEAM program for the gifted have been mainly addressing science-oriented convergence programs. Among them, programs including all the five combined factors(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) were the most common. In terms of learning types, a criterion-referenced teaching-learning model has been developing and there were diverse learning types which applied teaching-learning models tailored to characteristics of a gifted child. The researches related to STEAM programs'application effects on creativity were most dominant.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the trends of science gifted education-related research for the last 5 years using LDA topic modeling. To achieve the purpose of the study, 2,404 keywords of 292 domestic academic papers were analyzed using RISS, KISS, and DBpia. The main results were as follows. First, the number of researches in science gifted education has been decreasing since 2019. In the science gifted education research, the top 10 keywords were 'students', 'program', 'elementary school', 'class', 'creativity', 'gifted education', 'awareness', 'teacher', 'education', and 'activity'. Second, as a result of topic modeling analysis, 10 topics were derived. Research topics mainly conducted in science gifted education for the past five years are 'Affective characteristics of science gifted students', 'Characteristics of science gifted students in middle school', 'Development and application of science gifted education programs', 'Education programs of science gifted high school', 'Cognitive characteristics of science gifted students', 'Policy of science gifted education', 'Science gifted students and creativity', 'Research conducting education by science gifted students', 'Academic and career choice of science gifted students', 'Science concept of science gifted Students'. In the past, the proportion of specific topics was relatively high, but the proportion between topics does not differ significantly as 2019 approaches. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the more recent it comes, the more research is being conducted evenly without being biased toward one subject.

For papers of gifted education in Korea, two KCI (Korea Citation Index) rated journals, the 'Gifted/Talented Education' (The Korean Society for the Gifted) and 'Gifted and Talented Education' (The Korean Society for the Gifted and Talented Education) were selected and 457 pieces published in two journals were collected. The papers of 347 published in SSCI rated journals, 'The Gifted Child Quarterly,' 'Journal for the Education of the Gifted,' and 'High Ability Studies' were selected. English keywords were extracted from 457 papers from Korean journals and 347 papers from foreign journals and the Social Network Analysis (SNA) way was utilized for keyword frequency and central network analyses. It was appeared that the trends of paper keywords from domestic and foreign countries showed common keywords, 'academically gifted', 'science gifted', and 'gifted' as center keyword frequency, and keywords, 'achievement', 'identification', 'intelligence' appeared as the most frequent ones. For domestic papers, keywords, 'creativity', 'gifted education', and 'gifted education teacher' were the highest frequent keywords while keywords, 'foreign countries', and 'student attitudes' were most frequent ones for the foreign countries. • The purpose of this study is to investigate current trends and future directions of research in the area of gifted education through the analysis of published manuscripts on giftedness and gifted education between $2000{\sim}2006$. About 521 articles among 35 journals and 49 dissertations listed in the Korea Education and Research Information Service, including the journal of gifted/talented education and the journal of giftedness and gifted education, were mainly analyzed in the present study. The articles were examined by topics, domains, ages, and research methods both yearly and synthetically. The most widely researched topic was curriculum and program issues in gifted education, and the topic related to factors and development of giftedness was the second. Most studies have continuously focused on the mathematically and scientifically gifted students, and studies on gifted students in the areas of art, language, and other domains were scant. Issues on underachieving gifted students and underachievement were researched actively in 2005. More research has utilized elementary students as samples rather than middle or high school students. Young children under 7 have attracted much attention by researchers after 2004. Related to research methods, literature review was the most widely used, survey was the second, and experimental and correlational studies were the next. Implications related to results were discussed in depth.

Second, the analysis by research objects found the highest number of the studies on elementary school gifted students; followed by on middle school gifted students; on elementary school gifted students and general school students and teachers; and high school gifted students, middle school gifted students and general school students, and elementary, middle school gifted students, respectively. However, research targeted at infants and college students did not exist. Third, the analysis by research subjects found that science gifted education consists of mainly programming/curriculum and creativity. In addition, the higher number of the researches on creativity suggests that science gifted education is closely associated with not only scientific creativity but science education's nature of increasing the interest and understanding of science and technology. Fourth, the analysis by research methods revealed that the number was the highest regarding development and research studies, followed by experimental research, survey research, qualitative research, and literature research.
