  • Understanding how ram pressure stripping (RPS) affects the star formation activity of cluster galaxies is one of the important issues in astrophysics. To examine whether we can identify any discernible trend in the star formation activity of galaxies undergoing ram pressure stripping, we study the star formation properties of galaxies in the Virgo cluster for which high-resolution HI images are available. We first classify galaxies in the Extended Virgo Cluster Catalog into different stages of RPS based on their HI morphology, HI deficiency, and location in phase space. We then examine various star formation activity indicators of these galaxies, which include starburstiness, g - r color, and WISE [3.4]-[12] color. No noticeable enhancement in star formation was identified for galaxies undergoing early or active stripping. Our results suggest that star formation activity at best seems to be enhanced locally in such galaxies, making it challenging to detect with integrated photometry. With the combination of HI deficiencies and locations in phase space, we were instead able to capture the overall quenching of star formation activity with increasing degree of ram pressure stripping, which agree with previous studies.

  • Effects of artificial thermal aging on color variations of various commercial papers (fine paper, coated paper, newsprint and filter paper) were investigated. With thermal aging at $105^{\circ}C$, most of papers showed a special trend in $a^*-b^*$ plane: the $a^*$ (red-green) values of the samples were initially reduced (heading to - $a^*$ side) and after a turning point they increased to +$a^*$ side while the $b^*$(blue-yellow) values were kept increased to +$b^*$ side (yellowing of paper). Different papers had different turning points for $a^*$ value. The filter paper consisted of a pure chemical pulp and the copy paper with OBA (optical brightening agent) showed the latest turing points. In addition, the papers without OBA showed less reduction in brightness compared with that with OBA, suggesting that OBA could adversely influence the brightness stability during thermal aging.

  • Oat flour was purchased and investigated for quality characteristics of oat bread. Antioxidant and flour pasting properties of oat flour, and water content, weight, volume, Hunter color value, texture of bread were measured. DPPH radical scavenging capacity (%) of oat extract was 68.49%. Pasting temperature of oat flour ranged between $66.60^{\circ}C$ and $70.93^{\circ}C$. Flour pasting properties of sample added with 10 and 30% oat flour was shown similar results compared with wheat flour. Final viscosity of sample was increased by adding concentration of oat flour (up to 311.65 RVA). Water content (%) of bread was shown increasing trend by adding oat flour. Weight of bread loaf with 100% oat flour was shown higher score than other samples. Volume of loaf by adding oat flour of 10, 30, and 50 % ratio was 550, 450, and 388 mL, respectively. The Hunter color $L^*$ values of bread by adding oat flour was dark compared with wheat bread. Color value of bread added 10% oat flour was similar results with $L^*$ values of bread with wheat flour. The bread added with 20 and 30% oat flours had the higher hardness, gumminess, and chewiness compared with other samples. Cohesiveness of the bread with wheat flour showed higher than that of bread added with oat flour and increased by storage period. The growth of total viable cell was inhibited depending on the concentration of oat flour during storage.

  • Color Doppler imaging (CDI) was carried out to evaluate the anesthetics effect on ophthalmic circulation using CDI-derived resistive index (RI) values. CDI was preformed on 24 dogs, and RI values were calculated for the medial long posterior ciliary artery (mLPCA) and ophthalmic artery (OA) before and after administration of anesthetics. After administration of benoxinate or acepromazine, a significant change of the mLPCA RI was not found. But, a significant decrease of the RI following ketamine (p < 0.001) or xylazine (p < 0.01) administration could be observed as compared with the self-control. Mean RI value of OA also showed this same trend. Intraocular pressure was significantly decrease following benoxinate (p < 0.01), acepromazine (p < 0.01), and xylazine (p < 0.001) administration within normal range. The results suggest that some anesthetics influence on ophthalmic vascular resistance. Therefore, chemical restraint was carefully used in clinical application of CDI-derived RI measurement. Particularly, benoxinate and acepromazine is useful chemical restraint without a change of the ophthalmic vascular resistance.

  • Among the common textile fibers, wool has excellent wrinkle recovery. However, absorbed moisture plasticizes the structure and increases the rate of stress relaxation during wear deformation. Therefore, the wrinkle recovery of wool deteriorates under very high-humidity conditions and is of particular concern in men's lightweight suits, where the trend is toward wool fabrics of lightweight and bright color in which the wrinkles are emphasized. • This study has surveyed and analyzed in 2005 S/S domestic men's street fashion by using the Web-SFAS system that was developed and completed in the earlier research. Total of 270 men who were sensitive to fashion were surveyed around 5 nationwide cities and 9 commercial zones. The analysis results of the questionnaire and image survey in 2005 S/S for each commercial zone was shown as follows. 1. The most interest in producing fashionable shape when they go out was in the order of clothes>hair style>shoes and it was found that the proper reason for visiting the commercial zone was to meet with friends>watching movies>shopping etc. 2. T-shirts were most preferred as upper garments and as for bottoms, blue jeans were preferred. Black, gray, and white colors were most preferred and blue color was most preferred primarily due to the preference for blue jeans. The color image was proven mainly modem and light tone, comfortable and casual items were preferred. An active comfort casual image emphasized with activeness by coordinating comfortable T-shirts or shirts with blue jeans were most preferred in 9 areas. 3. A clear difference was confirmed in color by commercial area. Blackish color was most prevalent in Daehakro whereas simple color was mostly shown around Hongik University area. Bright and unique colors such as green and violate were dominant at Dae-Gu Dongseongro, and basic colors such as white and black were preferred in Masan Hapseong-dong and Changwon Sangnam-dong. Through the results of nationwide street fashion survey, the each commercial zone has unique characteristics in fashion trend even in the same city, rather than the regional difference in Seoul and local city.

  • This study aims to develop colored gemstone products based on the analysis of color preference. Colored gem stones were classified by their colors using Munsell's ten basic colors and the color preference of women consumers in their twenties was analyzed, in consideration of trend analysis and design image description analysis, which led to the direction of product development. The analysis of color preference seems to suggest that consumers preferred blue quartz, cahnite, spessartite garnet, the colors of which are rather less known to ordinary consumers, to the other more common kinds of gem stones. Through the analysis of the trends and adjectives to describe preferable design images, the current study has made it possible to explore the designs for the future development of colored jewelry products, which would satisfy the consumption value and individual tastes of the consumers. It is expected that the current study may contribute to the jewelry industries and designers as a basic data for developing colored gem stone products.
